Barbara Sallick, Foreword by Peter Sallick
ID: 15850
Издательство: Rizzoli

From the cofounder of Waterworks comes a beautifully curated collection of dream bathrooms designed by today’s top architects and interior designers, from Commune to Suzanne Kasler.

In The Perfect Bath and The Perfect Kitchen, Barbara Sallick walked readers through the creation of stylish, functional spaces. With the renewed emphasis on the importance of home, her new book takes bath design a step further. The Ultimate Bath devotes its elegantly illustrated chapters to the most luxuriously designed bathrooms from a wide-ranging list of contributors, including Gil Schafer, Nickey Kehoe, Brigette Romanek, and Miles Redd. These are baths that, while grounded in timeless elements, surprise and enchant. There are grand baths of high style with elegant mirrored and marble surfaces. There are bold rooms of rich maximalist pattern and color. There are strictly tailored spaces of great restraint and serenity. And finally, there are baths with restorative views to the garden or forest — or in the middle of nature themselves.

Gathered together, these spaces seduce, delight, and serve as a visual blueprint for readers looking to create rest, refuge, and beauty at home. The end result is a book that celebrates the unexpected and inspires readers to bring a magical quality to their own baths, no matter how modest or grand.

Ashley Whittaker
ID: 16175
Издательство: Rizzoli

In her first book, Elle Decor A-List decorator Ashley Whittaker shares the secrets of her colorful, pattern-filled classic rooms.

Ashley Whittaker’s work is distinctively classic and sophisticated, but also inviting and warm. Dubbed a neo-traditionalist, she fearlessly marries adventurous colors and patterns in rooms yet still manages to retain a sense of elegance and restraint. In The Well-Loved House, she shares a selection of dwellings, from gracious Connecticut estates to chic Manhattan pieds-à-terre to waterfront beach houses on the Florida coast, most exclusively photographed for this book, including her own house never before seen. Whittaker believes houses are meant to be beautiful, but also lived in and enjoyed, and she shares her knowledge and strategies for achieving this interplay. Within each house, Whittaker offers guidance on furniture plans, complementing the architecture of a space, playing with color, and mixing pattern. She explains why it is important to have consistent threads throughout a home, but also contrast and juxtaposition. The results are stunning: Bohemian patterns mix with classic palettes; rich, saturated color mingles with highly polished finishes. Lacquered blue walls show off a collection of blue-and-white porcelain. An inviting L-shaped sofa and games table reinvent an unused library into a favorite space for socializing.

Whittaker’s houses all share both a sense of drama and a sense of comfort — they are homes that welcome you at the end of a long day, homes for living, homes to love.

About the Author:

Ashley Whittaker’s work has been featured in VerandaHouse Beautiful, the New York TimesSouthern LivingCoastal Living, and Domino. Acclaimed ceramicist Christopher Spitzmiller is the author of A Year at Clove Brook Farm.

Benoît Rauzy, Anthony Watson, Marie Godfrain
ID: 18347
Издательство: Flammarion

Using natural materials ― wicker, osier, rattan, rope ― to create exquisite handwoven decorative objects, French lifestyle brand Atelier Vime has redefined luxury.

When Atelier Vime’s cofounders discovered that their eighteenth-century hôtel particulier had previously been a basket-weaving workshop, they dedicated themselves to reviving the vanishing artisanal craft. They replanted willow shrubs, hired local artisans, and designed a contemporary collection of decorative objects with their associate Raphaëlle Hanley. Karl Lagerfeld was an early admirer and, according to Architectural Digest, Atelier Vime swiftly became “the industry secret for designers.” Today, customers around the world ― from private homeowners to notable designers including Pierre Yovanovich, Kelly Wearstler, Aerin Lauder, Jake Arnold, Virginia Tupker, and Beata Heuman ― flock to La Maison Vime at Vallabrègues in Provence to source Vime’s unique home furnishings that are handmade in France.

The duo behind Atelier Vime invites readers to discover their idyllic universe in their homes across France, where their unusual color palettes ― from periwinkle blue to burnished ocher ― offer a striking backdrop for their Medici column vase, woven screens, and rattan furniture. Their collections include classical and modern art, antique textiles, Provençal ceramics, and miniature baskets, which are combined with their contemporary creations to form the signature Vime style. Bringing the ancestral savoir faire of basketry into the twenty-first century, using materials and methods that are as sustainable as they are sumptuous, Atelier Vime celebrates an impeccable lifestyle rooted in the synergic relationship between luxurious design and nature.

About the Authors:

Benoit Rauzy, a specialist in infrastructure and water resource management, cofounded Atelier Vime.
Anthony Watson, a stylist, is the artistic director and cofounder of Atelier Vime.
Marie Godfrain is a freelance journalist specialized in design, decoration, craft, and architecture. She writes a weekly column for M, the magazine of Le Monde, and contributes to Ideat and Le Quotidien de l'Art.

Издательство: Rizzoli

A sweeping survey of the work of celebrated bon vivant Federico Forquet, whose decades-long design career has embraced couture fashion, elegant interiors, and imaginative gardens, reflecting both the best of Italian style and the dolce vita era of Rome.

Through his long and crowded life, polyglot designer Federico Forquet has been by turns a couturier who learned his craft at Balenciaga's side and whose creations for his eponymous house clothed the best-dressed women of the day; a decorator of interiors of singular style and charm; a discriminating collector of rare and beautiful objects, furnishings, and pictures; and a creator of magical gardens.

For the first time, the many worlds of this creative visionary are brought together in a richly illustrated celebration of style: from imagery of his lavish haute-couture gowns featured in 1960s and '70s VogueHarper's Bazaar, and other fashionable publications and worn by trendsetters such as Marella Agnelli, Sophia Loren, and Diana Vreeland to picturesque scenes of verdant Tuscan gardens and opulent, old-world Roman villas and palazzos decorated by Forquet. Accompanied by insightful texts from the design world's authoritative voices, this inspiring and utterly enchanting tome will appeal to readers fascinated by fashion, social history, gardens, interior design, and Italian style.

Author Leslie Banker, Foreword by Alexa Hampton
ID: 15847
Издательство: Rizzoli

A reassuring, idea-filled guide to decorating by interior designer Leslie Banker, enriched by advice and contributions from other prominent decorators.

Interior designer Leslie Banker grew up learning the trade by her decorator mother’s side. The most important thing her mother taught her was that thinking like a decorator means focusing on developing the story of the space and its inhabitants. That story is what gives a place style, depth, character, and its own unique look, as well as — most importantly — makes the people who live there happy. Think Like a Decorator shows readers how to do just that.

Banker teaches readers how to drill down and articulate what appeals to them. She explains how to drop anchors for the project, whether it’s a favorite paint color or an inherited family piece, and what is essential to living comfortably in a home (hint: enough chairs at the dinner table). Banker also covers how to identify what is not working currently (the pile of backpacks that grows at the end of each day in that neglected corner) and how to solve the inevitable issues that will arise (the paint color that turned garish on the wall).

Witty and entertaining, with Q and As from noted designers including Alexa Hampton, Tom Scheerer, Amanda Nisbet, Katie Ridder, and Christopher Spitzmiller, Think Like a Decorator is, ultimately, about how to live happily and well at home.

About the Author:

Leslie Banker is principal at Leslie Banker & Company, an interior design and decorating business, and coauthor of The Pocket Decorator and The Pocket Renovator with her late mother Pamela Banker. She lives in New York City and Jamestown, Rhode Island, with her husband and daughter. Alexa Hampton, owner and president of Mark Hampton since 1998, is an AD100, Elle Decor A-List world-renowned interior designer known for translating the classical principles of good design and decoration into some of today's most elegant, enduring, and functional landscapes.

Editors of Mark and Dan Rubinstein

Издательство: Rizzoli

This Is Not a House takes a close look at spaces that reformulate the idea of what “home” means, in innovative houses in cities around the globe. This Is Not a House showcases recent projects that represent the vanguard of architects creating innovative spaces for living in the twenty-first century. Dan Rubinstein and the editors of the Amsterdam-based magazine have selected projects on five continents that will shape how we think of domestic life for a long time to come. Where the great experimenters of the last century were stripping away ornamentation and creating free-flowing spaces for the first time, today’s pioneers are researching the potential of new materials and techniques to push the boundaries of environmental sustainability, as well as creating new forms and bold, sophisticated explorations in the adaptive reuse of spaces originally designed for any number of other purposes.

This Is Not a House presents the latest built residential projects by such design luminaries as Sou Fujimoto, Plasma Studio, and Michael Maltzan, as well as emerging ones such as Johan Selbing, among others, in an array of locations across the globe, including New York, London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

The first monograph of renowned architect and interior designer Thomas Griem in London (5 projects), Hong Kong (2), Paris and on Mallorca (3) and Ibiza.

Architecture is mutually the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings or other structures with the aim to ultimately improve human life, by creating timeless, free, joyous spaces for all life’s activities. Interior Design is the art of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and a more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space. It is the seamless enjoyment of both that ultimately achieves a perfect unison.

Thomas Griem trained in London at the University of Westminster and at the Architectural Association. He has also made furniture, lights and has always been fascinated by the making, designing and creating of not only buildings or interior spaces, but products.

His work as an architect has been diverse, however he found that his passion lay in designing timeless beautiful homes. It has always been exceptionally important for Thomas to genuinely respond to the particular requirements of the client, the site and significantly the budget.

Thomas opened TG Studio in 2011 and this new book is a testament to the success of the studio’s creativity and approach to architecture and interior design.

This visually stunning volume explores Monticello, both house and plantation, with texts that present a current assessment of Jefferson’s cultural contributions to his noteworthy home and the fledgling country.

Each writer considers the important role, and the painful reality, of Jefferson’s enslaved workforce, which made his lifestyle and plantation possible. Thomas Pheasant, Foreword by Victoria Sant, Contributions by Jeff Turrentine, Photographs by Durston Saylor
ID: 16000
Издательство: Rizzoli

The work of influential, award-winning interior designer Thomas Pheasant is best described as "contemporary classical" and simply serene. Celebrated interior designer Thomas Pheasant is best known for his seamless melding of tradition and the contemporary. His spaces are fresh and of the age yet also enduringly timeless. Balancing classical elements, like recessed paneling, pilasters, crown moldings, and carved plaster garlands, Pheasant introduces modern details, sometimes including such flourishes and surprising complements as a scroll coffee table and a room screen of ribbed, translucent glass. Unafraid of combining pieces from various traditions, he achieves a sense of harmony and balance. This lavish offering of his work gives the reader a sensible, artful approach to interior design, presenting models of great aesthetic subtlety and beauty. Based in Washington, D.C., Thomas Pheasant works around the globe. Recent projects include the redesign of Blair House, the President’s guest house on Pennsylvania Avenue across from the White House, and apartments in Washington, New York, Paris, and Moscow. Never a strict by-the-book traditionalist, Pheasant responds to and sees in classicism its rational order, its quietude, its serenity.

Nina Farmer, Andrew Sessa, Mitchell Owens
ID: 17213
Издательство: Rizzoli

A debut book from award-winning designer Nina Farmer, known for her sophisticated eye and interiors that are elegant, comfortable, and timeless.

Designer Nina Farmer has made a name for herself with her classically beautiful interiors. From reimagining century-old homes to more modern dwellings, Farmer has a way of creating looks that celebrate the past and simultaneously live squarely — and stylishly — in the present. In these pages, Farmer introduces readers to the design solutions she has found for creating that special combination: a carefully curated mix of the classic and the contemporary that looks like it was collected over time rather than created all at once.

The book features nine projects, including a stone-walled 1930s colonial in Westport, Connecticut, a mid-century–inspired beach bungalow on Martha’s Vineyard, and Farmer’s own 1850s Federal-style brownstone in Boston’s Beacon Hill. The book is rounded out with a series of informative essays on the key elements of Farmer’s look, including creating a sense of place, the importance of travel, and collecting art.

Ultimately, the book illustrates how thoughtful, considerate design can give new life to any home and inspires readers to do the same.

The recipient of the New York School of Interior Design’s prestigious Rising Star Award, Nina Farmer and her striking body of work have been featured in Architectural Digest, Marie Claire Maison, and House Beautiful.
