Издательство: Promopress

Graffiti writing was born in the streets of Philadelphia in the late 1960s. But it was in New York in the early 1970s that it became a full-fledged urban art. He then invites us to a detailed examination of the 26 letters of the alphabet, their structure and the evolutions contributed by the graffiti writers. Finally, 10 of the most talented creators on the international scene answer to Woshe’s questions about their practice, their relationship to letters, their culture references, and so on. Alphabeatz is both a writing manual, an inspiring ideas box, and a beautiful book on the world of graffiti.

Stefano Antonelli, Gianluca Marziani
ID: 14813
Издательство: Rizzoli

The largest presentation of works by Banksy, the world’s most enigmatic yet highly sought-after artist, including iconic works, installation objects, ephemera, and memorabilia all in one volume.

Banksy is the world’s most discussed artist of recent decades, and this seminal collection features hundreds of works including Girl with BalloonPulp FictionLove Is in the AirBarcode, and Monkey Queen. It also includes scores of paintings, serigraphs, stencils, and installation objects as well as a selection of memorabilia — many of which have never been published previously. Created with the cooperation of Pest Control, the group that manages all things Banksy, this is as official and authorized as any Banksy publication could be.

Banksy is the world’s greatest practitioner of street art. His work has always been political, involving pointed critiques of inequality, injustice, consumerism, and the establishment, yet no one knows his identity. He is an exemplary case of fame and notoriety built upon absence and anonymity. His relationship with the art market is also complex: marked by mocking hostility while being one of the most marketable and most collected contemporary artists.

About the Authors:

Stefano Antonelli curated Europe’s first major Banksy exhibition at the Fondazione Roma Museo. He also collaborates with institutions such as Luiss Guido Carli, La Sapienza, Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome (MACRO), and PAC in Milan. Gianluca Marziani is a curator of contemporary art shows that have appeared at the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto, the Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive, and the 2011 Venice Biennale.

Alessandra Mattanza
ID: 15511
Издательство: Prestel

The most wide-ranging and up-to-date volume available on the enigmatic and controversial graffiti artist, this deeply researched and highly personal tribute explores how Banksy continues to defy accepted wisdom about artistic success, growing only more famous and powerful even as he sticks to his anti-establishment platform and to his mission to give a voice to the voiceless.

Accompanied by stunning full-page, full-color reproductions and photographs of works in situ — including many that have been lost to time — photographer and street art expert Alessandra Mattanza’s impassioned and informed text follows Banksy’s career trajectory from creator of message-laden stencils on London’s city walls to a sought-after champion of human and environmental rights. She investigates many of the key images that populate Banksy’s work — animals, children, historic figures, balloons, cartoon characters, police officers, and others. She shows how Banksy’s oeuvre has expanded beyond graffiti and stenciling and how his art has helped support his activism in a variety of causes — from calls for peace in the Middle East to the preservation of the natural environment. Readers will come away with a new understanding of how Banksy helped transform an illegal act of criminal damage into a high art form, and how, by ridiculing institutionalized art, he has achieved enormous fame within those very institutions.

About the Author:

Alessandra Mattanza is a foreign correspondent, contributor, and editor for several publishers in Italy and Germany. Her previous books are Street Art: Famous Artists Talk About Their VisionWomen Street Artists and Banksy

Will Ellsworth-Jones
ID: 15100
Издательство: Aurum Press Ltd

For someone who shuns the limelight so completely that he conceals his name, never shows his face and gives interviews only by email, Banksy is remarkably famous.

From his beginnings as a Bristol graffiti artist, his artwork is now sold at auction for six-figure sums and hangs on celebrities’ walls. The appearance of a new Banksy is national news, his documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop was Oscar-nominated and people queue for hours to see his latest exhibition. Now more National Treasure than edgy outsider, who is Banksy and how did he become what he is today?

In the first attempt to tell the full story of Banksy’s life and career, Will Ellsworth-Jones pieces together a picture of his world and unpicks its contradictions. Whether art or vandalism, anti-establishment or sell-out, Banksy and his work have become a cultural phenomenon and the question ‘Who is Banksy?’ is as much about his career as it is ‘the man behind the wall’.

About the Author:

Will Ellsworth-Jones was chief reporter and then New York correspondent for the Sunday Times as well as holding senior editorial positions at the Telegraph Magazine, The Independent Magazine and Saga Magazine. His other books include a history of conscientious objectors in the First World War, We Will Not Fight. He lives in London.

Will Ellsworth-Jones
ID: 14282
Издательство: Frances Lincoln

In this fully revised and richly illustrated edition, author and journalist Will Ellsworth-Jones pieces together a complete picture of the life and work of Banksy, perhaps the most iconic, enigmatic and controversial artist of modern times.

For someone who shuns the limelight so completely that he conceals his name, never shows his face and gives interviews only by email, Banksy is remarkably famous.

]This fully updated and illustrated story of Banksy’s life and career builds an intriguing picture of his world and unpicks its contradictions. Whether art or vandalism, anti-establishment or sell-out, Banksy and his work have become a cultural phenomenon and the question ‘Who is Banksy?’ is as much about his career as it is ‘the man behind the wall’.

From his beginnings as a Bristol graffiti artist, his artwork is now sold at auction for seven-figure sums and hangs on celebrities’ walls. The appearance of a new Banksy is national news, his documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop was Oscar-nominated and people queue for hours to see his latest exhibition. Now more, National Treasure than edgy outsider, who is Banksy and how did he become what he is today?

This book charts Banksy's journey from the graffiti-scrawled streets of Barton Hill, the working-class neighbourhood of Bristol where he and others covered the walls with vibrant pieces while trying to avoid the police, through to some of the most prestigious galleries of the world, where his daring acts of guerilla art have forced us to reconsider how we define as art.

From the artist's own words to recollections of friends and colleagues, this book also examines the contradictions of Banksy's life: charting how a privately educated boy from a middle-class area of Bristol reinvented himself as a rogue and an outlaw who would take the art world by storm.

With beautiful reproductions of some of his most controversial and recognisable works, this detailed study is a truly indispensable guide to understanding the ultimate art rebel whose work is no less relevant today than it was when he first started out some thirty years ago.

David Zinn
ID: 18432
Издательство: Prestel

The master of contemporary sidewalk chalk shares his latest creations in this collection of impossible-seeming, brilliantly imagined illustrations that leap off the page in all their original joyful exuberance.

David Zinn’s amazing street drawings are created using chalk, charcoal and found objects, and each extraordinary drawing is only ever temporary. This book preserves Zinn’s art in all its colorful, hypnotic glory by collecting together never-before published images of his eye-popping creations. Created over the last two years on streets across the globe, these adorably zany and deceptively three-dimensional characters come to life on manhole covers and streetlamps, village squares and subway platforms. Zinn’s most frequent characters are a bright green googly-eyed monster and a phlegmatic flying pig ― but the diversity of his menagerie is limited only by the size of the sidewalk and the spirit of the day. In a brief introduction Zinn describes his creative process, explaining how he seeks out everyday imperfections to situate his art–such as sidewalk cracks and chips, tufts of weeds and sewer grates–and brief captions describe the provenance of each work. While these amazing drawings can no longer stop pedestrians in their tracks on the streets, they live on in book form to mesmerize and inspire readers of all ages.

About the Author:

David Zinn was a freelance commercial illustrator for more than twenty years until he picked out some sidewalk chalk to "work" outdoors on a beautiful day. Since then his work has appeared on streets around the United States and as far away as Taiwan, Sweden, Germany, France and Holland. He is the author of »Temporary Preserves« and »Underfoot Menagerie«, and has been featured in The Guardian, Business Insider, and the Los Angeles Times, among others. Zinn lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Temporary Projects, Eternal Impressions. The XXL exploration, now in a condensed handbook

The works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude are monuments of transience.
