Jürgen Müller holds the chair of Early Modern and Modern Art History at the Technical University of Dresden. He studied art history at the universities of Bochum, Münster, Pisa, Paris and Amsterdam, and has worked as an art critic and curated numerous exhibitions. Along with Visconti and Rossellini, Fellini established the fame of Italian cinema. His subject is the life and dreams of ordinary folks, musicians, carnies, and clowns. Fellini biographer Tullio Kezich presents all 23 films, with texts, film stills, partly unpublished set photographs, and sketches by Fellini who was not only a master filmmaker but a gifted caricaturist.

This is a new edition of the diary kept by Federico Fellini, in which the great director faithfully recorded his dreams and nightmares.

A highly colourful journey into the boundless territory of a genius's imagination, this is a work that added a fundamental element to the study of Federico Fellini and his creative experience. From the late 1960s until 1990, the great director used this diary to represent his nocturnal visions in the form of drawings or, as he himself described them, "scribbles, rushed and ungrammatical notes."

Currently out of print, this new edition will include a critical introduction, as well as updated graphic design. It will be published in collaboration with the Municipality of Rimini as well as the Museo Nazionale del Cinema, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, and the Cineteca di Bologna (the three main Italian institutions in the field of cinema).

The volume will be released to coincide with the centenary of Federico Fellini's birth (January 2020), which will be celebrated in Italy with a travelling exhibition on the director that will start its journey from Milan in December 2019.

About the Authors:

Sergio Toffetti, born in Turin in 1951, is president of the Museo Nazionale del Cinema and has published essays on Italian and international cinema, and on the conservation and restoration of film. Felice Laudadio is president of the Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. He has overseen numerous cinema events, such as MystFest, EuropaCinema, and RomaFictionFest. Gian Luca Farinelli has been director of the Cineteca of Bologna since 2000. In 1986 he created, together with Nicola Mazzanti, Il Cinema Ritrovato an event dedicated to the history of cinema and the activity of film libraries. Together with Martin Scorsese, Raffaele Donato, Thierry Frémaux, and Alberto Luna he founded the World Cinema Foundation, which brings together about twenty great international directors for the restoration of third-world films.

Ferdinand Preiss (1882-1943) was the most prolific sculptor of the Art Deco period in Germany; he combined ivory, bronze, onyx and marble to create the most dazzling sculptures of his day.

Preiss entered into an apprenticeship with his uncle, a master ivory carver, at the age of sixteen, following the death of his parents. He went on to become the most important Art Deco sculptor in Germany and, indeed one of the most accomplished in the whole of Europe, during the Nazi period.

This book, the only work devoted entirely to this subject, follows the development of ivory carving in Erbach, Germany, focusing on the life and work of one of the country's most talented and prodigious sons. The political climate which Preiss and other artists were forced to endure during this time, its difficulties, constraints and influences on their work, is also explored. Extensive research into Nazi archives, interviews with family members, recently unearthed documents and the most comprehensive collection of sumptuous colour illustrations, truly enable the extraordinary talents of this formidable artist to shine.

Botero has gained international fame, capturing the whimsy of life by painting corpulent and sometimes comical figures. The dilation of his subjects gives the figures an abstract, unreal, and even grotesque dimension. About the Author:

Kan Muftic was born in 1976 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts from 1991–1992. In April 1992, he left Sarajevo due to violent political conflict in his country. During his time as a refugee, he helped his father with anti-war propaganda, creating illustrations and posters. After moving to Zurich, Switzerland, Kan attended the F F School for Art and Media Design, graduating in painting. Kan has now worked on film, television, and games projects for the past decade, for companies including the Moving Picture Company, Rocksteady Studios, and Axis. His credits include Jungle Book (2018), Godzilla, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, the Batman: Arkham series, and many more. He is currently Animation Director for an upcoming Netflix show.
