Over the course of time designers have managed to optimise fireplaces to avoid problems such as smoke and smells. However, heating the home is no longer the sole aim of chimneys and heaters. The firm has received numerous awards and was most recently honored with the prestigious 2003 Arthur Ross Award for Architecture from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America.
