Kate Hume, Linda O'Keeffe, Photographs by Frans van der Heijden
ID: 16071
Издательство: Rizzoli

The first book from celebrated interior and furniture designer Kate Hume.

Kate Hume's passion for interiors stems from her lifelong love affair with color and her respect for anything artisanal. Color, light, and texture inform all of Hume's projects to create a distinctive style that is casually luxurious; bold patterns are expressed in rich, elemental hues. Though color drives her design schemes, it is never dominant. For Hume there is no wrong color, only wrong combinations.

Hume's inimitable approach to design favors tactile materials such as linen, grass cloth, silk, jute, and impeccably sourced homespun fabrics. Unabashedly mixing different furniture genres, Hume prefers vintage over brand-new, considering for instance the best dining tables to look as if they've witnessed countless lunches and dinners. That is why she and her husband and collaborator, Frans van der Heijden, design their own pieces from sandblasted wood and brushed timbers where signs of age already exist. Exquisitely employing beautifully crafted furniture, intriguing objects, engaging color schemes, and seductive, ambient lighting, Hume consistently demonstrates her mastery of eclectic, warm, and sophisticated design.

About the Author:

Linda O'Keeffe has been involved in design for over three decades, including sixteen years as the creative director at Metropolitan Home magazine. She currently contributes to a variety of shelter and architecture publications and is the author of Heart and Home: Rooms That Tell Stories.

This monograph dedicated to the most spectacular example of Parisian First Empire interior architecture retraces the history of the building and the lives of its residents.

The Hôtel de Beauharnais, constructed in 1713, gained renown during the Consulate period. In 1803, Josephine Bonaparte acquired the property for her son, Eugène de Beauharnais, and had the building renovated and decorated at great expense. At the fall of the Napoleonic Empire, it was sold to the King of Prussia and became an embassy during the nineteenth century. With its unique Consulate and Empire décor, the palace is an invaluable specimen of Parisian interior architecture.

The result of more than ten years of research and restoration work, this book recounts three centuries of European political history through the lives of the Hôtel’s successive owners.

Native Houstonians Lucas and Eilers's aesthetic marries the entrepreneurial, can-do spirit of the West with Southern grace. Marin Montagut, Pierre Musellec, Laura Fronty
ID: 17177
Издательство: Flammarion

The art of collecting — from artist’s palettes still freckled with oil paint, to sculpted picture frames, to a menagerie of wooden toy animals — associating an accumulation of kindred objects is at the core of timeless French style.

French artist, designer, and talented antique hunter Marin Montagut celebrates the joy of collecting everything from textiles to barware to architectural details, taking readers inside a dozen private homes, flea markets, and unusual ateliers to discover the most whimsical treasure troves in France. From a film prop house’s array of leather sporting goods and playing cards to a travel buff’s vintage maps and globes, and from a sculpture studio’s Grecian plaster casts to an amateur designer’s spiral staircase models, and from Montagut’s own wonder wall assemblages to a cook’s haven filled with porcelain dessert molds and copper pots — objects, when presented together as a series, create unforgettable interiors that radiate charm. Inspiration comes in repetition: wooden zigzag rulers with engraved numbers aligned on a wall in a herringbone pattern create an artful space. The spare wooden forms of capipotes — devotional statues used in religious processions, their eyes turned heavenward in ecstasy — and silver ex-votos can be the point of departure for the theme of an entire room. Montagut’s mood boards for each chapter provide endless ideas for the home.

About the Author:

Marin Montagut is French illustrator and designer; his eponymous boutique is dedicated to whimsical decorative objects. He published Timeless Paris (Flammarion, 2021), is coauthor with Ines de la Fressange of Maison: Parisian Chic at Home (Flammarion, 2018), and he created and illustrated the Bonjour City Map-Guides. He has collaborated with the Château de Versailles and with many brands, including Farrow & Ball, the Ritz Paris, Diptyque, and Pierre Frey. Pierre Musellec is a lifestyle photographer; his work appeared in Timeless Paris and Faire magazine. Laura Fronty contributed text to Timeless Paris: Ateliers, Emporiums, Savoir Faire (Flammarion, 2021).

The construction of a modern house becomes a tremendously appealing prospect for both the architect as well as the client, not only because in principle these projects respond to the basic needs of humans to take shelter from the elements, but also due to the fact they are a consequence of their surroundings and the environmental prerequisites required for any type of building these days.

This is why the frame in which these projects are presented here in this book allows for different ariations and "sensations": small and large-scale houses, low-cost projects, grandiose ideas, typologies set according to family elements, risky settings, far-flung locations, technological resources and above all, a markedly contemporary nature to each and every one of the projects.

Explore the emotional connection that a home can have to a person’s life with Feels Like Home from Lauren Liess, the TV and social media star and author of Habitat and Down to Earth

A house is a feeling. That is the conceit behind designer Lauren Liess’s third book, which explores the emotional connection between the way we decorate our homes and our daily lives.

She advises readers to think beyond just the objects in their homes and explore how design informs an intentional, happy, and authentic life.

The book includes practical design information, with never-before-seen case studies on a variety of homes including a farmhouse, a home in the woods, a Spanish colonial, and other more traditional homes. Each case study explores a hardworking design aspect (such as proportion, scale, and color), while also focusing on the emotional aspect of the home.

With chapters inspired by the themes of comfort, calm, excitement, belonging, carefree, love, and contentment, Feels Like Home provides inspiration while also serving as a beautiful object itself.

Available again as of October 2019| Atmospherically illustrated tribute to the brilliant Danish designer and his own home, an icon of good taste

Birgit Lyngbye Pedersen was looking for the right sofa for a house from the fifties and discovered Finn Juhl (1912–1989), whose furniture is experiencing a renaissance in the wake of the retro wave. When Juhl’s house in Charlottenlund, which he designed and decorated in 1941–42, came up for sale, Pedersen purchased the building and all of its furnishings, presenting it immediately afterward to the adjacent Ordrupgaard Museum.

This monograph takes a look at Finn Juhl—alongside Hans J. Wegner and Arne Jacobsen one of the most important Danish Modernists—in an agreeably unpretentious way. Per H. Hansen, a renowned expert in Scandinavian furniture design, provides a humorous, extremely informative description of Juhl’s unconventional character and classic furniture—the Chieftain Chair, the Pelican Chair, or the Poet Sofa. Drawings, original photographs, images of the newly curated house (2008), and an amusing final chapter about his patrons round off this unusual volume.
