Menswear is one of the most creative and dynamic areas in fashion today. Changing attitudes, a relaxation of dress codes and larger disposable incomes have all led to men spending more money on looking good than ever before. Modern Menswear is defying convention and changing the fashion landscape. Creating this focus is a group of visionaries who have shifted the boundaries of menswear design, designers who have broken with tradition to visualize radical and directional clothing. They are not concerned with the formalities and traditions of menswear, but see their garments as an expression of contemporary thought. With a huge range of imagery, Modern Menswear showcases these fashion leaders, profiling big names and emerging talent from across the world. Designers featured include Marc Jacobs, Yoji Yamamoto, Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano, with an insight into their design processes and their contribution to the contemporary fashion aesthetic.

Hywel Davies has lectured at Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion and the Royal College of Art. Previously fashion editor at Sleazenation, he has also written for Arena, Jack, Vogue, ELLE, Wallpaper*, The Sunday Telegraph, Nylon, Dazed & Confused, Loaded Fashion, and Time Out. He is also a consultant for numerous brands, including Levi’s, Braun, and Orange.

Norman Bel Geddes Designs America accompanies a landmark exhibition exploring the career of Norman Bel Geddes (1893–1958), one of the 20th century’s foremost theatrical and industrial designers. This companion volume explores Bel Geddes’s life and career in comprehensive detail through nearly 100 projects, ranging from streamlined airplanes, ships, and cars, to stage sets, appliances, and much more. He is perhaps best known for his Futurama display for the General Motors Highways and Horizons exhibit at the New York World’s Fair of 1939–40, which to this day remains a useful model for city planning and design. Or, if you admire the work of Warhol, Duchamp and Cornell, you will understand the fascination of these accidental masterpieces of the everyday. Some are the tools of vanished trades, others anonymous implements of simpler cultures, but all have been chosen for their intriguing functions and their elegant, suggestive forms, whether for

Philippe Starck is one of the world's most prolific and famous designers. Well known for his luxurious hotels and restaurants, he is equally celebrated for his inspirational reworkings of everyday household items.

Whether it be his iconic lemon squeezer, dubbed the 'Juicy Salif', or his colourful stylized toothbrushes, Starck's works are some of the earliest examples of 'democratic design'. This idea, that exceptional products should not be exclusive and elite, but be accessible and affordable, would eventually revolutionise modern design.

Starck has worked privately for French president Francois Mitterand, decorating a suite in the Palais d'Élysée in Paris in 1982. He has designed products for a number of internationally renowned organisations including Microsoft, Lacie, Eurostar, Alessi and Fossil.

These volumes will introduce in a practical manner the personalities and the works of the world's major designers by way of an historical-critical introduction to the work and life of each individual designer. An accurate selection of the designer's most famous objects arranged in chronological order and a critique of his or her work summarising the most significant reviews published in magazines and newspapers will complete the subject.

Christina Morozzi is the editor of Design magazine and works as a curator of exhibitions in Italy and abroad. She is also a visiting professor at Domus Academy of Milan and University of Art and Design, Lausanne, Switzerland.
