About the Author:

Tim Flach is a graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, where he studied photography. He spent twenty years as a successful advertising photographer before turning to more personal work, garnering much press and many awards along the way. This is his first book.

Erik Johansson was born in Sweden and started taking pictures when his parents gave him a digital camera for his 15th birthday. He has lived in Berlin and currently lives in Prague. His pictures have been exhibited all over the world and his latest major exhibition is opening at Fotografiska in Stockholm in December 2019.

Erotic photo art has lost much of its exquisite soul since Playboy and other girlie monthlies repackaged the human body for mass-market consumption. Ever-bigger print runs of increasingly grotesque photos of women in every imaginable position have edged out emotion and reduced erotica to mere physical sex appeal. Only in the late 1970s did great men like Helmut Newton and Mapplethorpe come to the fore with high-quality art photography. As leading expert and collector of erotic art Alexandre Dupouy points out. Manfred Baumann has created a marvelous fantasy world for us in Erotic Visions. Unlike his previous publication, Just Naked, where his work captured the beauty of nude models in a more artistic setting (black & white photos using art models) this collection of work presents a more glamorous perspective - where the models are all spectacularly sexy, well endowed physically, and adorned with perfect makeup and suggestive attire (when they're not fully nude). There are scenes involving girl-on-girl erotica as well as work that appears more editorial in nature but is still laced with a powerful sexual undercurrent.

There is no grand sense of cohesion to this work, other than the fantastic quality to Baumann's photography. But that was obviously not the intention. For as the title suggests, it's about erotic visions, or individual glimpses if you will, into a secret fantasy world where beauty reigns supreme and sexuality is the raison d'etre.
