Universally recognized as the definitive competition for photographic reporting, the World Press Photo awards have been described by Michael Rand as ‘the international photographic contest’. Publishing the results of the most recent annual competition, this exceptional book contains the very best press photographs from the year 2017 – pictures submitted by photojournalists, picture agencies, newspapers and magazines throughout the world. Selected from thousands of images, these prizewinning photos capture the most powerful, moving and sometimes disturbing images of the year.

This album represents some six decades of achievements of Russian photo reporters in the international press photography arena. It contains all the winning photographs in the main categories, as well as photographs awarded honorary diplomas and special prizes by the international jury – a total of over 450 unique works.

What makes this book such an exclusive photographic publication is that it features not only the works of 115 great photographers, but also some truly original and unique texts – memoirs of events and notable national and international figures of the time. These include Dmitri Shostakovich, Leonid Brezhnev, Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, Maya Plisetskaya, Igor Moiseyev, Svyatoslav Fyodorov, Nikolai Amosov, and many others.

This publication is therefore of immense artistic and historical value, and the first project of its kind to encompass, and give a detailed account of, the participation of all Russian authors, and members of the professional and children’s juries, in the World Press Photo competition. Another unique feature is the large number of works presented in the author’s original version.

This monumental project is the result of a collaboration between Russ Press Photo (curator: Vasily Prudikov) and Schilt Publishing. The original version was published in Russia in 2010, and has been updated for the English edition in 2013.
Russ Press Photo is a non-profit organization, an independent cultural project whose purpose is to shed light on history and create an archive of contemporary photojournalism in Russia, as well as promoting and supporting the Russian school of photojournalism.

Каталог выставки "Время колокольчиков", проекта, посвященного независимой музыке в СССР, а точнее ленинградскому рок-движению конца 1970-х - начала 1990-х. Одному из самых ярких периодов советского культурного подполья, когда была прорвана брешь официальной идеологии, и рок стал символом обновления всего общества.

Кроме уже известных и культовых фотографий, в альбом вошли редкие, ранее не публиковавшиеся кадры. В книге есть кадры, сделанные Дмитрием Конрадтом, Валерием Потаповым, Валерием Плотниковым, Наташей Васильевой, Игорем Мухиным и другими.

Выставка представляет творчество известного современного американского общественного деятеля, филантропа, защитника дикой природы, ставшего также значительной фигурой в мире художественной фотографии.

Главным содержанием фотографий Говарда Баффетта, посетившего более 100 стран мира, стало исследование взаимоотношений человека и окружающей его среды – природной и социальной. Основу экспозиции составляют сюжетные и портретные фотографии, где судьбы «третьего мира» постигаются через образы отдельных его представителей, а также работы, посвященные многообразному и причудливому животному миру.

Дмитрий Бальтерманц – один из самых известных советских фоторепортеров, фронтовой корреспондент газеты «Известия» (1939–1944), глава фотоотдела журнала «Огонёк» (1965–1990). Каталог персональной выставки Дмитрия Бальтерманца в «Европейском Доме фотографии» (Париж, 2005) открывается кадрами обороны Москвы, военных действий в Крыму и битвы под Сталинградом, а заканчивается хроникой заката Советского Союза и знаменитой серией «Шесть генеральных». На фотографиях Бальтерманца – Великая Отечественная Война, советские стройки, панорамы Москвы, портреты рабочих и доярок, Сергей Михалков, Семен Буденный, Кукрыниксы… Сталин, Берия, Маленков, Хрущев, Булганин, Суслов, Брежнев, Микоян, Косыгин, Горбачев и Рейган… В предисловии к каталогу Ольга Свиблова отмечает его «блестящий профессионализм, безупречное чувство композиции (математик по образованию, Бальтерманц был виртуозом горизонтали) и врожденный аристократизм» и то, что «большинство его работ – не просто фотоархивация советской истории, но философская метафора своего времени, обращенная в будущее».
