Joel Meyerowitz: A Question of Color traces the experiments in color and black-and-white photography of the young Meyerowitz, a pioneer in the history of color photography.

Traces a key turning point in the history of photography: the young Joel Meyerowitz's early experiments in colour photography.

An early advocate of colour photography, Joel Meyerowitz has impacted and influenced generations of artists. For fifty-eight years, the master photographer has documented the US's ever-changing social landscape.

For a while, during the late 1960s, Meyerowitz carried two cameras: one loaded with monochrome stock, the other with colour. Just how, when and why US fine-art photographers switched from black-and-white image-making, which was prized within the gallery system, to colour photography, once seen as the preserve of the holiday snapper, has been the cause of much debate.

In this book, Meyerowitz tells the story of his early days as a photographer when he was told that serious photographers took black & white pictures. 'But why?' he asked, 'when the world is in colour?' He proceed to buy a colour camera and various rolls of films and to read manuals and experiment with colour techniques: a passion he continued to pursue all his life...

About the Authors:

Joel Meyerowitz is an award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in over 350 exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. In 2017 Meyerowitz was honoured with a place at the Leica Hall of Fame, and was described as a 'magician using colour' and being able to both 'capture and frame the decisive moment'.

Robert Shore is the author of several books about contemporary art and photography, including Post-Photography: The Artist with a Camera (2014), Beg, Steal and Borrow: Artists against Originality (2017), Andy Warhol (2020) and Yayoi Kusama (2021). He worked for many years as an arts reviewer and also as editor of Elephant magazine.

Jose Villa, Jeff Kent

Many semi-pro and professional wedding photographers are looking to "wake up" their style, stay current, and stimulate business. And today, that means lifestyle photography, also referred to as "fine art wedding photography."

Fine art wedding photography isn't just a catchy phrase; it's a modern approach in which design is paramount. Fine art wedding images are more graphic and stylized than traditional wedding photojournalism, as if they were pulled from the pages of a glossy wedding or lifestyle magazine.

Acclaimed wedding photographer Jose Villa was a pioneer in fine art wedding photography before it became a trendy buzzword. Here, he shares his secrets for bringing a stylized sense of composition, lighting, posing, and most important, design, to your images, while still keeping them organic and narrative. You’ll learn Jose’s trademark technique of capturing the more natural moment after a pose, and tips for getting images right in-camera to avoid the need for heavy postproduction. Final chapters show you how to integrate design through the delivered product, whether an album or slideshow, and continue nurturing clients after the wedding by expanding to baby and family portraiture.

Packed with real-life examples, solid techniques, and stunning images from one of the wedding industry's brightest stars, this book will both educate and inspire photographers seeking to update their work and satisfy a new generation of brides.

With amazing low-light capabilities, incredible definition, intelligent autofocus and a host of other features, digital cameras have now become so powerful that they have left their users behind.

Most photographers can take competent shots in a range of conditions, or fix imperfect exposures in Photoshop or Lightroom, but very few have the skill to push their cameras to the limit and capture the perfect shot, under all conditions, with no post-processing required.

In Camera is the perfect way to take your photography to that level; to master your camera, understand light, exposure and composition, and make amazing photographs, whatever your camera, without cheating after the event.

One hundred of Gordon’s beautiful photos are given with his own expert commentary; full settings and camera details are included, and a host of tips and tricks let photographers of any level learn something from every example. The shots are taken with a wide range of cameras, and the emphasis is on getting results by improving your own skills, not wasting money on expensive equipment.

About the Author:

Gordon Laing has been reviewing digital cameras since the first apple quick-take was launched in 1994. In the decades since, they have changed beyond all recognition, and Gordon has built a huge following with his in-depth review website, cameralabs.com. With its impartial, real-world tests of new models, huge archive and video tours, camera labs has become a unique and essential resource for anyone buying a new camera. He regularly posts his travel and food photos across the social networks, celebrating in-camera jpegs over-processed images.

Gain a new perspective on photography in this personally guided introduction to photographic images and what they mean by one of the leading writers and curators of our time

What shapes our response to a photograph? Where does the meaning we ascribe to it come from? And how important to our reading of it are the photographer’s intentions? In a dazzling example of photography writing – an exploration of the photographic medium through 120 images, some familiar, some surprising – David Campany shows us that how we think about photographs is just as important as what we think about them.

Rejecting the conventions of chronology and the heightened status afforded to ‘classics’ in traditional accounts of the history of the medium, Campany’s selection of photographs is an expertly curated and personal one – mixing fine art prints, film stills, documentary photographs, fashion editorials and advertisements. In this playful new take on the history of photography, anonymous photographers stand alongside photography pioneers, 20th-century talents and contemporary practitioners. Each photograph is accompanied by Campany’s highly readable commentary, which strives to guide the reader in their own interpretation and understanding of the image itself.

In a visual culture in which we have become accustomed to not looking, Campany helps us to see.

David Campany is a curator, writer and educator, based in London. Scott Kelby
ID: 13330
Издательство: Rocky Nook

Standing in front of a room packed with 360 photographers at his seminar, Scott Kelby asked for a show of hands: “How many of you own some kind of an off-camera flash? A Nikon, Canon, Yongnuo, etc.?” About 340 hands went up. “Okay, I have one more question, but before you raise your hand, I want you to really think about your answer. Let’s see a show of hands — how many of you love using your off-camera flash?” Out of those 360 people, just four people raised their hands. He was stunned.

Sadly, the results were similar in city after city, even in different countries. It’s like we all bought a flash during the “hot shoe flash revolution” of 2008–2011, but we’re not getting the results we got them for in the first place. Not even close. We don’t “love” our flashes, and worse yet, in many cases, we’ve even stopped using them altogether. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You just need somebody to help you unlock the real secrets to getting beautiful, consistent, and easily repeatable results.

That’s why The Flash Book book was created — to help you finally fall in love with your flash — and the best news is, it’s way easier than you’d think. In fact, you’ll be surprised at how simple it really can be because you’re not going to learn a bunch of geeky flash stuff, and you’re not going to have to do math, and you’re not going to need a light meter (it’s not that kind of book). Instead, you’re going to learn an amazingly simple system — one that Scott has been using for years — and the best thing about this system is that it’s so darn easy (it’s probably very different from what you might have seen “on the Internet,” but this system works, and once you try it, you’ll become a believer).

Here’s how the book works: Each idea or technique is just one page, and it starts from scratch, taking you through the flash settings (just the few simple ones you actually need to know); the camera settings (Scott gives you his own settings, and you might not even need to change them during your shoot); and which affordable accessories you really need to start using flash like a pro.

This isn’t a book of theory, full of confusing jargon and complicated concepts. This is a book on which settings to use, and exactly how and when to use them. The whole book is written in Scott’s plain-English, down-to-earth style, which makes the experience more like the two of you are out together on a shoot. It’s time to fall truly head-over-heels in love with your flash, so you can start creating the type of images with your flash that you’ve always dreamed of, and this is the book that can take you there.

Table of Contents:
Chapter 1: Flash Controls and Settings
Chapter 2: Next Level Flash Stuff
Chapter 3: Camera Settings for Working with Flash
Chapter 4: Using Flash for Portraits
Chapter 5: Using Flash on Location
Chapter 6: How to Light Backgrounds
Chapter 7: Using Flash at Weddings
Chapter 8: How to Mount Your Flash
Chapter 9: Flash Tricks
Chapter 10: Flash Workflow
