Beneath the original Venetian glass and rosewood case at La Specola in Florence lies Clemente Susini’s Anatomical Venus (c. 1790), a perfect object whose luxuriously bizarre existence challenges belief. Fleur Cowles (1908–2009) was an American artist, editor, and writer best known for her pioneering and influential work at Flair. Dominick Dunne (1925–2009) was an American writer and investigative journalist best known for his contributions to Vanity Fair magazine as well as his true crime novels.
