Text by Lucia Impelluso, Photographs by Dario Fusaro
ID: 16605
Издательство: Rizzoli

A stunning collection of photographs celebrating the excellence of the Italian Renaissance period through palaces and gardens built between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.

The book illustrates nine locations of extraordinary artistic and architectural interest, conceived by prominent Italian families and dynasties as urban villas or country houses centered around the pursuit of entertainment and leisure. These lavishly decorated and frescoed palaces are adorned with handcrafted furniture and works of art and surrounded by gardens that retain their original layout to this day -- a very rare feature.

An historical text introduces each property, giving an overview of its origins. The villas have been specially photographed for this book by Dario Fusaro, with views of both the palace interiors and their grounds, as well as the gardens, glimpses of the halls, details of the furnishings, and a focus on the frescoes, where still preserved. Explanatory text offers insights on the most interesting frescoes, such as those of Veronese at Villa Barbaro. For the first time, Fusaro also employs a drone with the purpose of capturing the architectural structure and elements of each Italian Renaissance garden, from above and as a whole.

This all-access volume is essential for fans and readers interested in Italian art, for those who love to travel through Italy in search of places of artistic interest, and for those seeking out green tourist destinations.

About the Authors:

Lucia Impelluso is an historian of architecture and an expert in the study of historical gardens. Her publications on gardens have been translated into multiple languages and awarded important prizes both in Italy and France. Dario Fusaro is one of the most important photographers of gardens in Italy.

François Halard, Pierre Le-Tan, Simon Liberati, Jorge Semprun
ID: 14506
Издательство: Rizzoli

From Vincent Darré, a French dandy and eccentric decorator, this volume offers a fanciful look into his unique universe of artful interiors.

Known for his dynamic personality and extravagant style, Vincent Darré -- the enfant terrible of Paris's design world -- presents a debut monograph brimming with his hallmark flamboyant whimsy, unrivaled imagination, and Gallic flair. As a fixture of the city's nightlife scene and member of its exclusive artistic circles, Darré is arguably one of its most creative residents (prior to launching his decorating career, he held posts at top fashion houses) -- which comes through in his instantly recognizable interiors: think Surrealist furniture, dizzying patterns, and spirited color combinations.

Boasting over 200 vibrantly colored photographs, this exquisite tome takes readers on a journey into Darré's world of conversation-starting spaces. From his signature furnishings, such as the Grenouille nightstand, and maximalist use of prints (cue the Little Prince Bedroom), to his expert use of vivid hues, he offers an intimate glimpse into the singular, utterly enthralling universe of one of the design world's most eccentric, quirky, and celebrated members.

About the Authors:

Vincent Darré is a Paris-based artistic director and interior designer known for his maximalist interiors and Surrealist furnishings. His clientele includes Schiaparelli and Christian Louboutin, and he designed André Saraiva's Le Montana nightclub in Paris and Le Baron in New York.
Marie-France Boyer is a journalist and author specializing in lifestyle, décor, gardening, and travel. She represents The World of Interiors in Paris.
Bernard-Henri Lévy is a French philosopher, columnist, and author. His most recent work is The Spirit of Judaism (Random House, 2017).

A global overview of the most contemporary and ingenious – and comfortable – former light-industrial spaces transformed into stylish modern residences.

The love of warehouse buildings – often in attractive waterside locations – has become a global phenomenon, from London to New York, from Sydney to Florence. Drawing on her own experience of living in a Grade II listed mill, Sophie Bush has amassed a wealth of knowledge, contacts and understanding about which ingredients make a building fit for contemporary habitation.

Warehouse Home is the ultimate resource for everything from how best to preserve and complement original architectural features to style ideas for adapting vintage and reclaimed pieces for modern living. The book has a practical structure, broken down into two key sections.

• 'Architectural Features' looks at how to make the most of a space while retaining its features, such as exposed brickwork, concrete floors and mezzanines. It also draws on examples of former industrial buildings across the world that have been renovated to create distinctive homes and workspaces, each selected for the originality or intelligence of its design.
• ‘Decorative Details' provides tips on how to recreate the warehouse aesthetic in any home, from repurposing pallets and breeze blocks as furniture to transforming exhaust cones into unique lighting fixtures.
• A reference section includes ideas on where to source everything from furniture to finishes.

About the Author:

Sophie Bush is the editor of Warehouse Home, an online and print magazine focused on warehouse living.

Pamela Todd
ID: 7816
Издательство: Thames & Hudson

In the history of the decorative arts, there has never been another designer who has achieved such lasting impact. While lamenting the excesses of mass-production, he set up the firm of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Company. Soon it was producing a range of goods, from hand-woven tapestries, carpets and printed textiles to stained glass, metalwork and furniture. What the company offered was quite simply a way of life.

Now available in paperback, Pamela Todd’s book celebrates William Morris’s genius, presenting a thorough overview of his life and career, while setting out his guiding principles so that a modern audience can recreate the Arts & Crafts style in their own homes.

A series of case studies explores six contemporary houses – from a modern London townhouse to a traditional Arts & Crafts home in Massachusetts – that have followed and adapted Morris’s dicta, brilliantly demonstrating how the style can be applied to our environment today.

The book concludes with a comprehensive style-sourcing section, as well as a gazetteer of places to visit for inspiration.

Summer Thornton
ID: 14832
Издательство: Rizzoli

Follow rising star designer Summer Thornton down the rabbit hole into a wonderland of color and pattern in her very first book of interiors.

Interior decorator Summer Thornton believes in designing with the wildest abandon: her world is one of nickel tubs, marble fireplaces, whimsical textiles, surprising patterns, and secret gardens. Often described as maximalist with a modern, fresh sensibility, Thornton manages to achieve highly polished, sophisticated interiors that indulge in a lighthearted, almost irreverent sense of whimsy. In her first book, she will inspire readers to follow their creative impulses and make their own rules.

Let yourself be transported with the dreamy, fantastical homes arranged by theme in Wonderland. “Fearless Romantic” features Thornton’s own gorgeous city house. “In Here Comes the Sun,” peek into an over-the-top tropical vacation home that’s centered on citrus. Look for her to misbehave a bit in “Good to be Bad.” If refinement is more your cup of tea, the polished settings in “The New Formal” are fit for a queen. Plus take a deep dive into the most colorful technicolor homes she’s ever designed in “Super Saturated.”

With outstanding photography from A-list photographers including Thomas Loof, Bjorn Wallander, Annie Schlechter, and Melanie Acevedo, and styling by AD contributor Mieke ten Have, Wonderland is a celebration of personal expression and fearless escapism.

About the Author:

Summer Thornton has been featured in many prestigious publications, including Architectural Digest, Veranda, Elle Décor, and the Wall Street Journal. Издательство: Batsford

A celebration of Britain's diverse housing styles throughout the twentieth century and beyond.

This illuminating book is a fascinating insight into Britain’s built heritage and the diverse housing styles of the twentieth century. Redesigned and updated in a brand-new edition, it showcases 100 houses, from throughout the 20th century and stretching into the 21st, that represent the range of architectural styles throughout the years and show how housing has adapted to suit urban life. Each house is accompanied by stunning photography and texts written by leading architectural critics and design historians, including Gavin Stamp, Elain Harwood, Barnabas Calder, Alan Powers and Gillian Darley.

From specially commissioned architect-designed houses for private individuals to housing built for increased workforces, each of the 100 houses brings a different design style or historical story. There are houses built as part of garden cities, semi-detached suburban dwellings, housing estates, eco-houses, almshouses, converted factories and affordable post-war homes. Architectural styles encompass mock Tudor, modernist, Arts and Crafts and brutalism, and featured architects include Giles Gilbert Scott, Walter Gropius, Edwin Lutyens, Powell and Moya and David Chipperfield.

The book also contains essays that explore the social and political aspects of housing design in Britain over the last 100 years, looking at the impact the world wars had on housing, exploring domestic technology and building materials and discovering how the modern house came about.
