The group hails from across the country, from Seattle to Los Angeles, Houston to New York. It includes best-selling authors like Paloma Contreras; Elle Decor's 2018 A-Listers like Nick Olsen, Charlie Ferrer, and Bennett Leifer; members of distinguished firms like Cullman & Kravis and McMillen Inc.; and protégés of famous decorators such as Bunny Williams, Jamie Drake, and Miles Redd. Oliver Furth
ID: 17294
Издательство: Rizzoli

AD100 and Elle Décor A-List Interior Designer Oliver Furth masterfully combines bi-partisan enthusiasm for classical and contemporary influences with California cool, to create sophisticated, livable spaces with relaxed rigor, infused with color and joy.

Known for his timeless approach to design, as well as his irreverent ability to blend different styles and eras seamlessly, Furth combines his expertise in historic decorative arts and contemporary collectible design to create encyclopedic interiors where aristo-irreverence meets West Coast optimism.

A fourth-generation Los Angeles native, Furth’s homes conjure something magical, with optimism for the power of design as a guide to life well-lived. His signature style — a mix of freewheeling creativity, scholarly historicism and unabashed joie de vivre — has been applied to an array of homes over the past fifteen years, resulting in interiors full of personality and calibrated elegance that are prized by celebrities, creatives, and collectors.

Furth grounds his interiors with a sense of place and people over trends, considering his collaborators’ individuality and the materials, objects, textures that tell their story. His sophisticated eye for color is the antidote to misconceptions of current mass beige-ness.

The first monograph from the internationally celebrated designer, OP! Optimistic Interiors shines a light on Furth’s ingenious approach, showcasing homes that strike a balance between modernity and tradition, aesthetics and functionality, all while leaving room for self-expression and that most important ingredient: joy.

The cover of this book includes a circular die-cut.

About the Author:

AD100 and Elle Decor A-List Interior Designer Oliver M. Furth is principal of his eponymous studio founded in 2005, and a fixture in the Los Angeles design and cultural communities. He also consults for The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and is Chair Emeritus of their Decorative Arts and Design Council.

Heide Hendricks, Rafe Churchill, Laura Chávez Silverman, Asad Syrkett, Chris Motallini
ID: 17207
Издательство: Rizzoli

The glorious Connecticut property of Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill (of the architecture and interior design firm Hendricks Churchill) illustrates how a late nineteenth-century farmhouse can be adapted for stylish and comfortable twenty-first-century living.

Rafe and Heide discovered their true home in a late 1800s New England farmhouse after a decade of living in Brooklyn, New York. The historic property, Ellsworth, is a showplace for their shared aesthetic and sensibility of designing for real life, and not for formality. At the core is a house of pared-down traditionalism with references to Shaker tranquility, Arts & Crafts practicality, and bohemian chic. Whimsical wallcoverings, striking colors, a mix of contemporary furniture and antiques, exciting works of art, and comfort abound—turning a workaday house from the nineteenth century into a creative laboratory of the twenty-first.

The house and its surroundings — a constant work in progress with evolving interiors, landscaping objectives, a reconfigured sunroom, a barn restoration, and planned hiking trails — have become an endless source of inspiration for the couple’s many projects, which include residences in New England, New York’s Hudson Valley, New York City, Oyster Bay, Boulder, and Austin. The narrative of the book addresses the couple’s design process in terms of architecture, decoration, and final installation. As many Americans are deciding to leave cities for calmer, more connected lives in the country, Heide and Rafe illustrate how this transition can be one of beauty and logic.

About the Author:

Rafe Churchill and Heide Hendricks are the husband-and-wife team behind Hendricks Churchill, an architectural and interior design firm that respects historic accuracy and modern relevance. Laura Chávez Silverman is a creative director and writer. Asad Syrkett is editor-in-chief of Elle Decor. Chris Mottalini is a photographer of architecture, interiors, and design.

Jane S. Day, Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach
ID: 17223
Издательство: Rizzoli

Palm Beach style is the expression of elegance and romance everywhere evident in this paradise and epitomized in the lives and work of architect John Volk and artist-preservationist Jane Volk.

Together they conjured up much of the magic that now makes the place. The book explores this unique chemistry and the dazzling homes that are the result.

John Volk was one of the “big five” architects of Palm Beach. It was here, during his sixty years of practice, that he was commissioned to design over 2,000 projects, among them the Royal Poinciana Plaza as well as additions and renovations to the Everglades Club. This book is about the Volks, and the part they played in conjuring the spell with which Palm Beach continues to enchant.

Palm Beach, among other things, is its architecture. Red tile roofs and cast stone columns hint of the Mediterranean. Evidence of inspirations from Spain and Morocco abound. After the economic collapse of 1929, the classical architectural orders began to appear on columns and porticos. The Bermuda style and Modernism made an appearance later. Yet there is no one style exclusively associated Volk; here he perfected many styles and his architectural legacy can be found on almost every street.

While this book honors John Volk’s architecture and his enormous impact, it also celebrates Jane Volk’s contribution to Palm Beach and her devotion to protecting the town and its historic character.

About the Authors:

Jane S. Day is an historian and preservationist and author of Rizzoli’s From Palm Beach to Shangri La: The Architecture of Marion Sims Wyeth.
The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach is a private, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the preservation of the architectural and cultural heritage of Palm Beach, Florida.

Издательство: Rizzoli

This classic volume, now available at a lower price, showcases jet-set homes designed by the likes of Neutra, Frey, Lautner, and others. Palm Springs is famous as a mecca for the international jet set. Издательство: Rizzoli

Paying homage to the seminal mid-century modern architecture of Palm Springs, this luxurious book showcases historic jet-set homes designed by legendary talents such as Richard Neutra, Albert Frey, and Paul Williams, as well as private residences by today’s leading tastemakers.

The book profiles outstanding examples such as the Annenberg Estate, the Ford House, and the Kaufmann House, shown in their splendor, as well as today’s restorations by top interior designers such as Martyn Lawrence Bullard and fashion designer Trina Turk. A resource section provides modernist furnishing stores and other points of interest.

In this exquisite monograph, designer and antiques dealer Richard Shapiro demonstrates the alchemy required to create a home that seems cultivated over many generations. Shapiro has mastered the art of crafting refined, cultivated spaces that transport their inhabitants to distant lands and past epochs. Designers and homeowners who wish to endow their homes with authentic European charm and character will be inspired by Shapiro’s gift for conjuring Old World savoir-faire.

As a manufacturer of furnishings with a distinctly European sensibility, he also brings to bear a thorough knowledge of production processes and finishing techniques based on Old World archetypes. Karen E. Hudson
ID: 8080
Издательство: Rizzoli

Over a career spanning six decades, architect Paul Revere Williams came to define what gracious living looked like for the Hollywood elite. Williams mastered an array of architectural idioms — including American Colonial, Spanish Mediterranean, English Tudor, French Normandy, Art Deco, and, of course, the California ranch style — to create the sophisticated yet understated showplaces that are featured here in all new full-color photography.

Among the most celebrated architects of his generation, Williams was also the first African-American member of the American Institute of Architects, and he was deeply involved in the black community in Los Angeles and in African-American affairs nationally. Williams moved among many worlds, and with celebrity clients such as Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Tyrone Power, and Barbara Stanwyck, as well as clients who made Hollywood run behind the scenes, not to mention members of Los Angeles high society, Williams left his mark in the city’s most glamorous and exclusive enclaves — Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bel Air, and the Hollywood Hills.

Paul R. Williams: Classic Hollywood Style is a dazzling tour of this prolific architect’s most spectacular houses, by his granddaughter Karen Hudson, with a special focus on their roles not only as places for high living but also as venues for world-class entertaining.

About the Author:

Karen E. Hudson is Paul Williams’ granddaughter, an owner of one of his homes, and the author of Paul R. Williams Architect. A third-generation Angeleno, she chronicles the African-American experience in Los Angeles in writings and photographs.

Ros Byam Shaw
ID: 8020
Издательство: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

The English style in interior design is admired and imitated the world over.

At its grandest it is a stately home furnished with antiques, but the houses featured in this book are cottages, farmhouses, townhouses and apartments. What links them is as much an attitude as a look. The English style of decoration is practical and informal, designed around the inhabitants of the rooms and their lifestyles rather than to awe or impress. These houses are lived in and loved, with interiors that are comfortable, relaxed and not afraid to be pretty.

The book’s chapters – Plain English, English Eccentric, English Rose, English Country House and Classic English – reflect the many and varied facets of English style, and each section ends with pages devoted to suggestions for furnishing a house in all these versions of English style. At the back of the book, there is also a listing of suppliers to help readers create their very own take on perfect English style

“The sheer variety of interiors featured in this enjoyable book is happy evidence that an English tradition still thrives.” Review of English Eccentric in The World of Interiors.
