Author Rafael de Cárdenas, Contributions by Felix Burrichter and Jesse Seegers and John Miller
ID: 16494
Издательство: Rizzoli

The first volume on the exciting work by one of the most cutting-edge architects and interior designers working today.

Founded in 2006, Rafael de Cárdenas’s firm Architecture at Large was created after a roundabout route to architecture. His experience as a menswear designer at Calvin Klein and a creative director at the special-effects production house Imaginary Forces led him to study architecture and blend his multidisciplinary background to create spaces that are artful and highly conceptual. He is known for his bold and eye-popping projects spanning commercial and residential interiors, art objects and furniture, and pop-ups.

With four thematically organized chapters treating his most stunning projects from a decade of work in vivid detail, this book is a must-have for those interested in contemporary spaces. From highly sculptural and geometric commercial interiors to some of the most sophisticated homes in Manhattan, de Cárdenas and his firm infuse their work with an energetic spirit that is less about a particular style than it is about a masterful shaping of atmospheres and moods. The book includes stunning photography alongside two insightful essays by thought leaders in architecture and art.

Ralph Lauren
ID: 17216
Издательство: Rizzoli

A stunning celebration of Ralph Lauren’s signature home collections — including the designer’s own homes — which have inspired the world of interior design for nearly half a century.

The cinematic vision of Ralph Lauren is brought to life with a stunning and intimately written book that spans decades of innovation and influence by the iconic American designer. Ralph Lauren: A Way of Living, published by Rizzoli New York, commemorates the 40th anniversary of the home collection with the first comprehensive volume dedicated to the signature style of Ralph Lauren and his pioneering lifestyle approach to design. From trailblazing innovations that revolutionized the home industry to conceptualizing residential retailing and perfecting the art of hospitality, Lauren has created a multifaceted world that evokes emotion and inspires a more beautiful way of life.

This special volume presents a visual timeline of Ralph Lauren’s remarkable history as a lifestyle innovator. Lauren’s unparalleled ability to seamlessly blend fashion and the home is illustrated with the groundbreaking designs and innovative use of materials that have distinguished the home collection since its inception in 1983: menswear-inspired Oxford Cloth bedding that required the creation of special looms and took two years to refine; the sleek RL-CF1 chair, crafted of carbon fiber and inspired by Lauren’s McLaren F1 racecar; and an appreciation for a timeworn, weathered aesthetic, as exemplified in the iconic Writer’s Chair with its hand-burnished leather and rich patina. Historic achievements such as the opening of his first New York City flagship on Madison Avenue – which invited guests to experience the complete World of Ralph Lauren in a residential environment – and his renowned restaurants that offer the epitome of gracious hospitality, demonstrate the magnitude of Ralph Lauren’s influence on the worlds of lifestyle design and hospitality. The timeline is complete with quotes from distinguished members of the design world and prominent figures of our culture including Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and architecture critic Paul Goldberger.

Ralph Lauren’s signature ability to create transportive environments begins with his private homes that inspire his iconic lifestyle collections. Ralph Lauren: A Way of Living offers an in-depth look at all the places Lauren calls home, from a sprawling ranch in Colorado and an island retreat in Jamaica, to a Fifth Avenue penthouse overlooking Manhattan’s Central Park, a seaside home in Montauk and a country estate in Bedford. Lauren’s homes are deeply personal expressions of his vision for living; captivating imagery is complemented by essays and descriptions written in his own words that intimately express the meaning of home and share inspiration and anecdotes for each residence. The photos of Lauren’s captivating homes are followed by a celebration of Ralph Lauren Home’s lifestyle collections – cinematic worlds that are brought to life with iconic imagery showcasing Lauren’s pioneering lifestyle approach and all-encompassing home collection.

Ralph Lauren: A Way of Living honors the life and work of a true visionary and innovator. Ralph Lauren’s monumental impact on the way we live is as recognizable today as it was groundbreaking 40 years ago. His vision is not about trends of the moment, but is built upon values and things that last, and his legacy will continue to shape the places we call home.

Sally Denning
ID: 12096
Издательство: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

In Relaxed Coastal Style, Sally Denning offers decorating inspiration for anyone lucky enough to live by the ocean, as well as those who only dream of it.

Scientists tell us that living by the ocean makes us happier and healthier: increased views of blue space have a calming effect and sea air improves our ability to absorb oxygen. Being by water brings a sense of tranquillity and relaxation and a home by the sea has never been more desirable.

The first part of the book offers up Sally’s unique take on coastal style, celebrating the colours and textures of the seaside: bare wooden boards, uncurtained windows, and furnishings covered in robust linen or cotton that will endure salt water and the sun’s rays. Sally also looks at lighting, furniture and coastal decorative accents such as maps, charts and nautical-themed accessories. She draws inspiration from beachcombing, displaying shells and driftwood to feel close to nature and the sound of the waves.

The second half of the book visits a selection of glorious coastal houses, cottages and hideaways that are guaranteed to enchant and inspire. Wherever you live, relaxed Coastal style will inspire you to adopt the relaxed, informal simplicity of life by the sea.

Niki Brantmark
ID: 14697
Издательство: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

Inspired by nature, these beautiful interiors show how you can bring the natural world into your home whether you live in the country or the city.

Relaxed rustic interiors are about embracing the pared-back lifestyle of living in the country, taking nature as the main point of inspiration. Use colours, textures and details to create a home in which to unwind – a retreat from the rest of the world. Niki Brantmark explores various takes on this simple, informal style. The graphical look is striking, reminiscent of exposed landscapes: think whitewashed ceilings, rugged stone surfaces and striking black features, softened by cosy soft furnishings and fresh plants and flowers. Savanna style introduces warmer hues, featuring painted wood and reds, oranges and browns in textiles, furniture and collectibles.

Nordic interiors take in the best of the Scandinavian landscape – clean white backdrops against sleek designs – while those inspired by forest and mountain streams are filled with rich, deep greens and blues, combined with traditional patterns and features, such as log burners, wood panelling and woven rugs. The stunning photography for this book takes in locations across Scandinavia and the United States, and all evoke an ideal, rural life, adapted to modern living.

About the Author:

Niki Brantmark is the creator of My Scandinavian Home (www.myscandinavianhome.com), an award-winning interior design blog and social media platform with over a million views per month. Originally from London, Niki is the author of Relaxed Rustic, Lagom: the Swedish Art of Living a Balanced, Happy Life and The Scandinavian Home (all CICO Books) and lives in Malmö, Sweden with her husband and three children.

Remodelista.com is the go-to, undisputed authority for home design enthusiasts, remodelers, architects, and designers. High and low mix seamlessly here, and getting the look need not be expensive (think Design Within Reach meets Ikea). Remodelista decodes the secrets to achieving this aesthetic, with in-depth tours and lessons from 12 enviable homes; a recipe-like breakdown of the hardest-working kitchens and baths; dozens of do-it-yourself projects; “The Remodelista 100,” a guide to the best everyday household objects; and an in-depth look at the ins and outs of the remodeling process. In a world of design confusion, Remodelista takes the guesswork out of the process.

Eric J. Smith, Introduction by Marisa Bartolucci, Foreword by Alexa Hampton
ID: 16330
Издательство: Rizzoli

The first book on the houses and interiors of a firm known for its sensitive and sumptuous residential work in traditional and contemporary styles.

Whether for a plantation guesthouse in South Carolina or a Dutch Colonial home on Long Island Sound, Eric J. Smith's evocative designs are the result of thoughtful planning integrated with a deep understanding of his clients' lives and lifestyles, a design ethos beautifully evident in the book.

From a Georgian home in California and a French Country home on Long Island to a Shelter Island fishing camp, Smith's work is at once an homage to tradition and an expression of the living beauties these traditions still offer. Over the course of a storied career, and often working with prestigious interior designers--including Alexa Hampton, David Easton, and William Diamond--Smith has garnered a reputation for a kind of personal architecture that is, in each case, in sync with the homeowner, whomever he or she may be, and the place, whether it is oceanfront, on a hillside, or set beside a lake or stream. Renewing Tradition features custom residential projects from New York to California, and Bermuda to the United Kingdom, and Smith's houses, apartments, and country cabins are a revelation, work to be savored and which will serve to inspire homeowners in search of a guide to achieving comfortable elegance in the home.

Eric J. Smith, A.I.A., is the founding principal of the New York-based firm Eric J. Smith Architect. Marisa Bartolucci is the former executive editor of Metropolis magazine and author of Architecture & Design: NYC. Alexa Hampton is an award-winning interior designer and author.

Steve King

Издательство: Rizzoli

A book recounting the history and marvels of Reschio through an alphabet of stories and pictures of an ancient Italian estate beginning a new life.

Reschio Estate sprawls over the hills of Umbria, north of Perugia and not far from Cortona, in the very heart of Italy, with its circular Castello at its highest point. Dating back one thousand years, it was revived when it was bought by Austro-Hungarian expatriate Count Antonio Bolza in the 1980s, and it has now been transformed into a group of villas and a spectacular hotel by his son Count Benedikt, who lives there with his wife Donna Nencia Corsini and their five children.

Reschio Estate is every architect’s dream, and a total work of art. It spans nearly 1,330 hectares of land, and today half of the nearly fifty abandoned farmsteads have been transformed into beautiful villas. The 1940s tobacco warehouse has become the Tabaccaia, where the vibrant architectural and design studio brings Benedikt’s designs to life, with furniture and lighting made by local artisans. Ancient forests and meadows have been restored to their wild state, protecting the animals living in their natural habitat.
