Some of Bernard Trainor's best known gardens, and those this monograph portrays, are monumental; they unfold over many acres, across inland hills or along the Pacific coast, and extend visually toward miles of adjourning land that is often part of state preserves. On these one-of-a-kind tracts, Trainor applies simple, understated frames to rugged natural panoramas, the better to bring them into focus. Instead of calling attention to itself his work sketches lines around the wondrous, drawing viewers outward.

Artistic interpretation of the landscape was transformed when artists started working directly in the landscape itself. At the same time, architects explored strategies aimed at integrating humans and habitats within the environment. This book showcases the ways in which designers have created living spaces within the built and natural environments - areas of harmony between man and nature.

Architecture outside the box. Designing the great outdoors

One of the hottest areas of contemporary design is landscape architecture. No matter what the architectural style of the moment, the green areas around houses, stadiums or corporate headquarters have taken on a considerable importance, all the more so with the emphasis on ecology and green design. This book calls on the work of the top designers of the moment, from Ken Smith, author of the Museum of Modern Art’s rooftop garden, to West 8 from Rotterdam, but also on architects ranging from Steven Holl to Tadao Ando, who have long been fascinated by the environments of their buildings. There are new names like the Lebanese landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic and well-known ones like Renzo Piano. There are established firms, like the Wirtz family from Belgium or Gustafson Porter from the United States, and young creators like Sophie Agata Ambroise from Lugano. Landscape architecture may not always be easy to delimit, but this new book opens the doors and windows of today’s architecture into the gardens of tomorrow.

Over the past decade, incorporating water features into the architectural landscape has become a prevailing theme. As a result, there are hundreds of noteworthy installations wordwide on a public level that document the drama and beauty that water can bring to a landscape design. Far beyond the simple central fountain, landscape designers are bringing innovative and startling creativity to their landscapes using water as a central feature.

The book is classified into five parts: landscape of plaza, park, waterfront landscape, public landscape, residential landscape, and fully provides the readers an overview of design principles and the tendency of urban landscape development through the rich information. This is not only a collection of recent design proposals for landscape worldwide; rather, features are addressed in details, such as the relationship between living space and ecological environment. What designers are pursuing is the better living environment and higher living quality for the people. Moreover, the landscape design is related to the development of human beings and sustainability.

The collection of 7 most representitive works of Ryoko Ueyama who's the pioneer landscape designer in Japan. Her works are highly respcted in Japan as well as in overseas.

Landscape Design, which contains internationally and domestically renowned landscape design projects, has been published in two volumes. Each book contains both completed works and proposed designs.
