Author Scott Schuman, Foreword by Pierpaolo Piccioli, Illustrated by Jenny Walton
ID: 14244
Издательство: Rizzoli

The Sartorialist Man: Inspiration Every Man Wants, Education Every Man Needs, by renowned photographer, fashion editor, and social media sensation Scott Schuman, is the definitive fashion primer celebrating the diversity of today's well-dressed man.

Schuman's dynamic street photography captures the essence of style as seen through lens of guys of all ages from around the globe. Setting the new standard, the book will be an invaluable resource for men as they explore and hone their unique personal style. "What I didn't want this book to be was a list of rules. But I do outline principles that will help you make confident decisions about your many sartorial choices," says Schuman in the book's introduction.

The book begins with "Dressing Your Body Type," because when you know what fits your unique body, the better you can pull off any look. In section one, "Clothing," Schuman delves into wardrobe basics with "Elements"--an illustrated glossary of everything from jackets and pants, and collars and cuffs, to outerwear and underwear. Also sprinkled throughout are "Style Strategies" explaining how stylish gentlemen do what they do so well, and the "Focus" section is filled with tips on to how to talk to a tailor, view the runway, and discover inspiration from friends and colleagues.

The second part of the book tackles everything you need to know about accessories--whether to go socks or no socks, and how to tie a tie, choose the right glasses or sunglasses, and find the right shoe. Part three, "Maintenance & Sustainability," is filled with illustrated step-by-step instructions on how to care for, mend, fold, store, and pack your clothes and footwear. Schuman even shares pointers on the how and why to invest in key pieces of your wardrobe, shop online or in person, or buy vintage or new.

Refreshing, contemporary, and inspiring, this striking menswear tome will come to define today's essence of style. The Sartorialist: Man is about enjoying the freedom to explore what looks great on you--and that, perhaps, is the ultimate chic.

One may sew a classic suit faster or cheaper than the master tailors of Savile Row but you can not make them any better. Here’s a detailed guide to create your suit written by one of Savile Row’s finest.

Savile Row is the home of hand tailoring. This short street is home to many of the world’s finest tailoring houses, a street where for over 200 years royals, rock stars, and giants of the business and political worlds have come to have their clothes cut, sewn and fitted.

Patrick Grant, co-owner of Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons, describes the long-standing traditions of craftsmanship that are maintained in the workrooms of this quiet corner of London’s Mayfair – a fascinating and uniquely storied world. He celebrates the extraordinary ecosystem, from the British weavers and cloth houses to the trimmings merchants, that allows Savile Row to flourish.

Grant shines a light on the captivating story of Savile Row, the painstaking processes required to create a bespoke garment, and the story of his personal experiences on this most famous thoroughfare.

This book details, for the first time, the complete tailoring methods of several of Savile Row’s finest sewing tailors, providing a detailed step-by-step manual on how to hand-make a pair of trousers, waistcoat, and coat in the Savile Row style, and a shirt in the style of one of Jermyn Street’s finest shirt makers. Richly illustrated, this book gives an insight into a highly discreet and rarefied world of craftsmanship.

About the Author:

Patrick Grant is the co-owner of Norton & Sons and the co-owner and Director of Community Clothing. He won Menswear Designer of the Year at the 2010 British Fashion Awards and is best known as a judge on the BBC One show The Great British Sewing Bee.

This book presents the mysterious formula that rules art, nature, and science.

This book deals with the Divine Proportion, a secret code that rules art, nature, and science. It is known by many names: Golden Mean, Sacred Cut and Phi are only a few; and it is not by chance that the Divine Proportion was given its name. It has been called divine because over thousands of years it has been deemed to be so.

The Divine Proportion reveals a number of simple patterns: It is seen in the seed patterns of fruits, the family tree of bees, the pyramids of Egypt, Gothic cathedrals, Renaissance paintings, the human body, shells...the list is endless. Mathematicians use the Greek symbol F to represent the Divine Proportion and equate it to a number that is defined by the ratio (1 + v5) / 2 or 1.6180339... Numbers do little, however, in describing this unique ratio that is found everywhere in nature and for 2500 years has been an aesthetic guide in art and architecture.

Beginning with calculations found on clay tablets in ancient Babylon, the story of Divine Proportion can be traced alongside the history of numbers to the fractals of the digital age. As its many forms unfold we uncover the Golden Rectangle in the Parthenon, Golden Spirals in the human inner ear, a Golden Angle in the petal patterns of a rose, and the Fibonacci numbers in lilies, daisies, pineapples, and in our own DNA. With its natural balance and elegant beauty, the Divine Proportion is a perpetual reminder that our hope for regeneration and continuity lies in realizing the meaningful and harmonious relationship of all the parts to the whole.

The story of Eames furniture told in unparalleled detail on 800 pages with more than 2,500 images

Brimming with images and insightful text, this unique book is the benchmark reference on what is arguably the most influential and important furniture brand of our time. It reveals in unparalleled detail how Charles and Ray Eames, as well as a talented team of designers, worked to create pieces that still top bestseller lists. The book describes the key role played by the Eames Office's own development and perfection of production processes for its designs as well as the significance of its relationship with manufacturers. By documenting the creation and spread of these landmark furniture designs, this book also tells the story of how modernism became established in homes and offices throughout the world.

In this unique 2-volume, 800-page book with more than 2,500 images, Marilyn Neuhart tells the story — to paraphrase Charles Eames himself — of how Eames furniture got to be the way it is.

The Story of Eames Furniture is the benchmark reference on the subject. It is a biography — not of an individual person, but of arguably the most influential and important furniture brand of our time. Brimming with images and information, this 2-volume, 800-page book in a slipcase sheds new light on the context in which the furniture of Charles and Ray Eames was created. It documents in unparalleled detail how the design process in the Eames Office developed as well as the significant roles played by specific designers and manufacturers.

Through intense and self-critical teamwork, the Eames Office was the first to translate the theoretical approach of the Bauhaus into commercially successful design for a mass market. One can hardly exaggerate the relevance of Eames's modern concept of design. In many cases the success of the pieces is based on the Office's own development and perfection of production processes for its designs.

The concepts that originated in the Eames Studio made a fundamental impact on modern design. Its furniture still tops bestseller lists and, decades later, the pieces have not lost any of their original elegance, timelessness, freshness, and quality. Its combination of conceptual consistency, aesthetic mastery, and almost scientific persistence is particularly inspirational for young designers today.

The Story of Eames Furniture was written and designed by Marilyn Neuhart together with her husband John. Both have worked at the Eames Office in various capacities since the 1950s. They have looked after the house of Charles and Ray Eames since the designers’ deaths and have supervised the Eames Archive. More familiar with the material and protagonists than almost any other, Marilyn Neuhart has spent the last 15 years compiling the stories, images, and recollections featured in this book.
