This publication contains 14 projects and recent works by Salvador Pérez Arroyo, an experimental and heterodox architect whose designs alternate between light, heavy and utopian.
His unstoppable creativity never ceases to amaze. His interest lies far beyond putting forward a clearly identifiable set of mannerisms; each project and building represents for him a new opportunity to engage with something unexplored, ultimately opening it up for new conversations in architecture.
Among his most relevant works and projects are the Moncloa lighthouse, the Madrid Planetarium, the restoration of the Palladium Basilica in Venice and the Convention Center of Liepage.
San Leung, prior to setting up his own pratice-san interiors, had work with a well know interior design firm where his design talent was explored and his skills polished. He brought with him a wide range of design experience to san interiors.
Leung, earned his name initially in designing residential spaces, now he is best known in the design of "brand" retailing spaces.
This monograph celebrates the 10th anniversary of "San Interiors" and presents 30 projects in 3 categories(10 each) achieved by San Leung and his team. The 10 Q & A provides an gilmpse of the design world of San Leung.
Sanaa’s housing projects, both finished (House A, S House, House in a Plum Grove, Small House and Moriyama House), and unfinished projects (Flower House, Garden & House, Seijo Apartments, Ichikawa Apartments, House in China and Eda Apartments). SANAA's architecture embraces complexities within deceptively simple appearances. It has many elements that are impossible to understand unless actually “experienced”. In contrast with modern architecture, SANAA has many aspects that cannot be revealed in “representative” media such as plans, models, and photographs. The “representations” of their architectural works incorporate ambiguity and chronological elements. This characteristic makes Sanaa one of the most innovative offices in the current architectural panorama.
For their intervention, Sanaa decided to use acrylic to make transparent curtains. They imagined an installation design that left the existing space of Barcelona Pavilion undisturbed.
The acrylic curtains are standing freely on the floor and shaped in a calm spiral. The curtain softly encompasses the space within the pavilion and creates a new atmosphere. The view through the acrylic will be something different from the original with soft reflections slightly distorting the pavilion.
Sand and Golf: How Terrain Shapes the Game explores what makes golf, and golf course architecture, so special on sandy terrain. Golf was born on sandy ground and the features of the game are a direct product of that terrain. Fairways and greens were derived from the naturally occurring areas of short grass found among the coastal dunes of Scotland. The original sand traps were areas of bare sand that can be found scattered throughout any dune landscape. As the game spread beyond the coastal dunes it took these features with it, and while they have been incorporated into a variety of landscapes they have always fit best on sandy ground. For this reason each major expansion in golf has begun with new courses on sandy ground. Even the best courses of the modern era are products of sandy terrain. The reason golf works so well on sandy ground is that it quite literally belongs there.
This book explores the unique features of sandy ground that make it so suitable for golf, studying the similarities and differences among sandy courses in a wide variety of environments. The courses of Melbourne’s Sandbelt may not bear much resemblance to the fantastic sandy courses of America’s Great Plains, but they actually have a great deal in common. The firm turf that is a product of free draining soils, rugged bunkers carved directly into the sandy soils, and a style of play suited to firm, often windy sites. Golf on sandy sites is a game played as much along the ground as through the air, and creative shotmaking is required to deal with the challenges of sandy terrain. The creativity required to succeed when golfing on sandy ground is a big part of the enduring popularity of these courses and the reason why people travel around the world to seek them out.
Golf on sandy terrain is something special because golf itself is a product of that terrain. Sand and Golf looks at all aspects of the relationship between sand and golf, from golf’s earliest days to the spread of the sport across the globe. Golf and golf course architecture on sandy sites is explored in every detail, using examples and illustrations from the best sandy courses in the world.

Feats of design and engineering.
Santiago Calatrava is not only one of the world’s most prominent architects but is also an engineer, sculptor, and painter. With recent projects such as the stadium for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the new railway station in Liège, Belgium, he has unarguably made his name in Europe and continues to look further ahead. His work is closely related to his own drawings of the human body, and to his sculptures of geometric forms, inspired by the dynamics of movement and tension.
