John Derian
ID: 15336
Издательство: Artisan

John Derian’s home goods empire reaches far and wide — in addition to the four John Derian stores he owns in New York and Massachussetts, his products are sold by more than 600 retailers worldwide, including Neiman Marcus, ABC, and Gump’s in the United States; Conran and Liberty in the UK; and Astier de Villatte in Paris. It all started with his now-iconic collectible plates decoupaged with 19th-century artwork sourced from old and rare books, a process that credited him with elevating the decoupage technique into fine art. Over the past 25 years, the brand has expanded greatly to include home and general design gifts and products.

Now, for the first time ever, comes the book John Derian fans have been waiting for. Culled from the thousands of images that have appeared in his biannual collections, here is an astoundingly beautiful assortment of nearly 300 full-bleed images in their original form. From intensely colored flowers and birds to curious portraits, hand-drawn letters, and breathtaking landscapes, the best of John Derian is here. The result is an oversized object of desire, a work of art in and of itself, that brilliantly walks the line between commerce and art, and that is destined to become the gift book of the season.

About the Author:

John Derian is an artist and designer who transforms printed images from the past, and in doing so transports the viewer to another world. He established John Derian Company Inc. in 1989, and his decoupage plates, platters, paperweights, coasters, and bowls are still entirely handmade in his studio in New York City, where he employs a small staff of artisans to assist with production. His designs are sold at upscale home stores, in catalogs, and at gift shops worldwide, and he has designed exclusive collections for Cisco Brothers, Astier de Villatte, Target, and more. His retail shops, studio, and homes have been featured in VogueT: The New York Times Style MagazineThe World of InteriorsElle Decor, and Vanity Fair, among others.

Known for their strong social media presence driven by their "Balmain army" of fans, Balmain holds a unique position among the top couture houses today.

A comprehensive, irreverent guide to the inner workings of provocative art collective MSCHF

Made by MSCHF is a survey of the work of Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF, known for their eclectic projects that critique the very areas of popular culture they inhabit. Written by two of the collective’s cofounders, the book features an additional six thematic essays and an archive of every MSCHF artwork to date, together revealing the experimental group’s range and evolution.

Projects include: Big Red Boot, a pair of cartoonishly large rubber boots; Jesus Shoes, their designer-branded sneakers filled with holy water; ATM Leaderboard, an ATM installed at Art Basel Miami Beach that ranked users by bank balance; and Severed Spots, in which they cut out spots from Damien Hirst prints and sold them as individual art works.

The definitive monograph on the most illustrious haute-couture embroidery house in the world, featuring specially commissioned photography of Maison Lesage’s Paris archive collections

The most famous embroidery house in the world, Maison Lesage has collaborated with the greatest names in the history of fashion, from Madeleine Vionnet, Elsa Schiaparelli, Cristóbal Balenciaga and Christian Dior to Yves Saint Laurent, Hubert de Givenchy and, of course, Chanel, which counts Lesage as one of its Métiers d’Art ateliers.

_______________

The most prestigious Parisian Haute Couture artisans, Maison Lesage has collaborated with the biggest names in fashion, from Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Yves Saint Laurent, to Cristobal Balenciaga, Valentino, and Alexander McQueen. Founded in 1924, when the Lesage family bought the eminent firm of Michonet (then a supplier to such fashion legends as the House of Worth), Maison Lesage has created exceptional embroidery motifs ― often requiring hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of precise beadwork ― for star fashion designers for decades.

Perhaps best known today for the masterpieces it creates for Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel collections, the house was bought by Chanel in 2002 as part of its Paraffection group to ensure the survival of the house’s unique history and extraordinary skills.

The must-have book for every fashionista: Martin Margiela at French luxury house Hermès

Innovations in tailoring, technique and materials, as well as a new vision of fashion with an emphasis on comfort, timelessness and tactility created clothing whose primary aim is to please the wearer, not to impress the viewer. An image of women was also introduced that was no longer obsessed with youth but left room for women of different ages, thus generating an alternative vision of beauty.

This key period between 20th- and 21st-century fashion is evoked through interviews with Margiela's closest collaborators, more extensive essays by Rebecca Arnold, Kaat Debo and Sarah Mower, and a foreword by Suzy Menkes. Never-before-published material from the Maison Martin Margiela archives, numerous striking and exquisitely refined images from Le Monde d'Hermès, as well as new photographic material tell the story of Margiela's supreme wardrobe for Hermès.

- Includes extra images from an exhibition held in Antwerp, and new texts by Olivier Gabet and Ina Delcourt
- A celebration of Martin Margiela's stunning body of work seldom examined during his time at the French luxury house, Hermès
- Published with the cooperation of the reclusive Margiela himself
- Updated edition on the occasion of a 2018 exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris,

For Dolce&Gabbana, Monica Bellucci embodies the dream of la dolce vita. This book tells the story of a diva and her unique style.

Monica Bellucci and Dolce&Gabbana have an unbreakable bond. Their first meeting took place during a casting session for a fashion show, when it was love at first sight. Since then, the muse has continued to inspire the two designers, who are now paying their respects to her wholly Italian sensuality, beauty, and charisma in this volume. The unique style of the contemporary diva is presented in a large-format photo book, as a celebration of the career and beauty of the model, actress, and woman.

Babeth Djian, editor of the French magazine Numéro, has curated the art direction of the volume; Jean-Baptiste Mondino has created 12 wonderful portraits of Monica specifically for this project, which will be accompanied by the advertising campaigns, editorials, and most iconic shots in which she posed for the great masters of photography. Two previously unpublished interviews with Monica Bellucci and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana seal this indissoluble connection forever.

About the Authors:

Domenico Dolce started to collaborate with his father in the family clothing business while studying fashion design. Stefano Gabbana began to work in various fashion studios thanks to his graphic design background. Their joint debut dates to October 1985, when the designers presented their first collection, achieving great success. Since then, Dolce&Gabbana has experienced a constant and unstoppable ascendancy. Elisabeth “Babeth” Djian is the founder and editor-in-chief of Numéro magazine. Dijan was motivated to create the magazine because of her dissatisfaction with the titles available for women like her.
