The story of Anna Molinari’s beloved and successful fashion house, as told through a kaleidoscope of stunning images by famed photographers. Blumarine has become synonymous with fashion created for the modern woman, characterized by a sensual femininity and timeless romanticism, with a vibrant edge. Anna Molinari, known as "the queen of roses" because of her love for the flower, is the designer and creative force behind the label, which has since evolved into a range of successful lines, including Miss Blumarine, Blugirl, and Blumarine Home. Against the Grain

Since its beginnings in Paris in the mid-19th century, the idea of bohemia, an urban community of artists and intellectuals living outside bourgeois norms, has been a potent trope of artistic identity. It was here that the notion of an unconventional, free-spirited life, precarious yet filled with idealism, was codified and romanticized. Bohemia: History of an Idea, 1950 – 2000 shows the continuities and differences between the scenes and subcultures of the second half of the twentieth century, when the mainstream began to appropriate and thereby erode a way of life predicated on its rejection. Nonetheless, as an alternative to conformity the bohemian idea has exerted an enduring fascination. Through works by 39 artists, including Alice Neel, PeterHujar, John Deakin, David Wojnarowicz, Ed van der Elsken, Robert Frank and Alfred Leslie, William Gedney, Libuše Jarcovjáková, Nan Goldin, Zhang Huan and Wolfgang Tillmans, the publication explores the diversity of expressions in various cities in Europe, North America and Asia and shows that the bohemian idea continues to galvanize and inspire.

Russell Ferguson is a research professor at the University of California’s Art Department. During his tenure at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, he curated numerous exhibitions on culture and representation in contemporary art and photography.

A concise introduction to American street photographer Bruce Gilden, best known for his candid close-up photographs of people on the streets of New York City

Bruce Gilden was born in 1946 and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. After taking photography classes at the School of Visual Arts, he embarked on his first major project: recording tourists and pleasure-seekers visiting Coney Island. Gilden is probably best known for his work on the streets of New York, focusing on the city’s characters and outsiders, but he has also spent many years on projects in Haiti, Japan and Ireland. A member of Magnum Photos since 2001, Gilden has taken the genre of street photography and pushed it in new directions, documenting the essence of the people he sees and the social landscape through which they move.

Bryan Adams
ID: 18832
Издательство: Steidl Verlag

This is the long-awaited reprint of Bryan Adams’ first comprehensive monograph of his portrait photography. In the late 1990s Adams became curious about making photographic self-portraits for his album covers, and so chose to pick up the camera himself. This serendipitous decision proved the beginning of a successful photographic career parallel to Adams’ impressive achievements as a singer, songwriter and producer. Exposed is a retrospective of his photography and features portraits of friends and colleagues in the entertainment, fashion and art industries. Including Morrissey, Ben Kingsley, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Louise Bourgeois, Lindsay Lohan and Judi Dench, among many others, the book “exposes” not only unknown facets of his subjects but also the depth of Adams’ photographic faculty.

About the Author:

Bryan Adams, born in 1959 in Ontario, divides his time between music and photography. Adams has photographed for magazines including Interview, i-D, Harper’s Bazaar, and British and German Vogue. In 2003 he founded Zoo Magazine for which he has received a Goldene Feder Award. In 2006 Adams was honored with a German Lead Award for his series of photographs of Mickey Rourke. Adams’ exhibitions include those held at the Saatchi Gallery and National Portrait Gallery in London, and Haus der Kunst in Munich. Steidl has published Adams’ Exposed (2012), Wounded: The Legacy of War (2013), Untitled (2016) and Homeless (2019).

Cecil Beaton, Claudia Acott Williams, Hugo Vickers
ID: 17385
Издательство: Thames & Hudson

A contemporary look at Cecil Beaton's portraits of the Royal Family and how they helped create the public face of the House of Windsor.

Cecil Beaton: The Royal Portraits looks back in time to tell a very modern tale: the creation of a public image. Offering a fresh appraisal of Beaton's portraits of the British royal family, the book explores not only the finished images but also the sittings in which they were created, revealing Beaton's central role in shaping the public face of the House of Windsor and the ways in which he collaborated with his subjects.

Organised chronologically, from the 1930s to the 1970s, each of the book's four chapters comprises an introductory essay, plates with extended captions, and one or two in-depth analyses of a particular sitting. Throughout, a variety of contextual material - contact sheets, test shots, out-takes, sketches, letters, journals, tear-sheets - helps build a detailed picture of Beaton's working methods, the relationships he developed with his sitters, and how the eventual portraits were received.

Drawing on the Victoria and Albert Museum's unparalleled collection of Beaton's photographs, Cecil Beaton: The Royal Portraits will appeal not only to those interested in the photographer and his work, but also to anyone for whom the distinction between the private world and the public face of the royal family remains a source of fascination.

In the 1990s, queer youth, outcasts and artists, flocked to San Francisco to find one another and to experiment with art, self-expression, style, and gender. Rent was affordable, paving the way for queer bars, clubs, tattoo shops, galleries, cafes, bookstores, and women-owned businesses to emerge. A new wave of feminism embraced gender bending, and butch/femme culture flourished. The Mission District was the center of this queer cultural renaissance, and the feeling of community was palpable. Chloe Sherman was both a member of this community and an ardent visual chronicler. Her documentary photographic work on 35mm film stems from a commitment to capturing the vibrancy, tenderness, individuality, resilience, and joy within this subculture that was derided by mainstream society. Distilling the spirit of the time, her debut monograph is a candid portrait of a vibrant era that connects current and future generations to the pulse of San Francisco at a pivotal chapter in queer history.

Chloe Sherman (*1969, New York City) arrived in San Francisco in 1991 and earned her BFA in Photography at the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in magazines such as Rolling Stone and Interview. Her documentary photography is deeply influenced by her fine arts training.

Elizabeth II: A Queen for Our Time is a lively and affectionate celebration of the beloved monarch and a beautiful visual record of her extraordinary reign over the past twenty years leading up to her platinum jubilee.

For as long as many of us can remember, Queen Elizabeth II has been an omnipresent figurehead — an icon. As Head of the Commonwealth, she is respected and admired around the world in equal measure. Her stalwart presence has signaled stability, neutrality, and responsibility. Uniting all that is British as an ambassador and statesperson, Queen Elizabeth II has seen more of the planet and its people than any other head of state and has engaged with them like no other monarch in British history; she is unquestionably a global voice for our time. As a Getty Images royal photographer, Chris Jackson has been granted privileged access to the monarch and the British royal family. He has documented the Queen’s official engagements over the past two decades, during a period of seismic changes in the British monarchy.

"Photographing Her Majesty the Queen has, and is, one of the biggest privileges of my career as Getty Images Royal Photographer. As we head towards the celebration of her Platinum Jubilee, she remains at the heart of a nation and Commonwealth's affections, and is hugely admired and respected around the world,” says Jackson.. “This book is my personal perspective across the last, almost two decades, documenting many different facets of the Monarch's life, from the formal ceremony to family life and those unexpected and heartwarming moments that left me smiling behind the camera".

In Jackson’s photographs, documenting public and private moments and accompanied by warm and engaging text offering a personal perspective and behind-the-shot anecdotes, Elizabeth II: A Queen for Our Time captures her majesty’s great elegance and charm. From royal tours and state dinners to family time and equestrian triumphs, this book takes us to the heart of what it means to be the head of the British royal family. Much has also been made of the Queen’s enduring style, and Jackson shines a spotlight on the coats, dresses, evening gowns, jewels, bags, and accessories that make up her coordinated wardrobe.

About the Author:

Chris Jackson is Getty Images’ royal photographer. Jackson’s images are published regularly on the front pages of newspapers around the world. Jackson has traveled to more than 100 countries with members of the royal family. He has created one of the most intimate and elegant collections of images of the British royal family over the past two decades. His unique perspective ranges from personal moments to historic royal occasions and stand-alone official portraits.
