His book A Portable Paradise (Peepal Tree Press) won the prestigious 2019 T. S. Eliot Prize, announced in London in January 2020. He is the second writer of Caribbean heritage to win the prize, the highest-value award in UK poetry, after Derek Walcott won in 2010.

This catalogue raisonné of printed works by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov comprises some 90 works from 1981–2023. Some of these are series and consist of several prints. This graphic part of the Kabakov oeuvre, recently acquired by the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, offers insight into the varied work of these two artists, comprising drawings, works with garbage, albums, paintings, and installations.

John Lennon (1940–1980) was an English singer, songwriter and peace activist who co-founded the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music.

Yoko Ono is a globally renowned multimedia artist, singer, songwriter and activist. She married John Lennon in 1969 and became his creative partner and muse. She continues to work to preserve his legacy, funding, among other projects, Strawberry Fields in Manhattan’s Central Park, the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER in Iceland and the ‘Imagine There’s No Hunger’ campaign.

Historic India, which now encompasses the modern nations of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, is celebrated for the richness of its architectural and decorative arts, but less well-known for glazed tiles. Arthur Millner opens up this hitherto neglected subject with a richly illustrated narrative. Millner traces the craft’s roots in Muslim Persia, Afghanistan and Central Asia, showing how imported glazing techniques combined with an ancient local tradition of clay craftsmanship. He explores the production, designs and influences in Indian tiles from antiquity to the colonial period, tracing the historical evolution through a series of key eras, including the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire in Northern India. Although glazed tiles are generally associated with Islam, they also briefly flourished in both Hindu strongholds, such as Gwalior and Orchha, and in Christian Portuguese-ruled Goa. This is the first international monograph on the French artist Inès Longevial.

Inès Longevial is a French painter based in Paris. She started drawing and painting at a very young age, first showing her work on Instagram, where she had an immediate success in terms of visibility. Since then her career has been growing fast, thanks to the support of the Parisian gallery Ketabi-Bourdet and to solo shows in Paris and New York.

Her oil paintings and drawings focus on two main themes: femininity and nature. Bodies, faces, and skin are shaped by light and color, and different palettes reflect different emotions—sometimes soft and sensual, sometimes intense, strong, and violent. The artist approaches her memories in color and gives form to candid and absorbed faces that embody the nostalgia of seasons, sunsets, shades of light, and caresses.

Originally from the southwest of France but with family in the Basque Country, she’s been close to Spanish culture; Pedro Almodóvar’s colorful world and Pablo Picasso’s lines rank among her main influences. Through large oil portraits on linen canvas and on paper, the artist follows an intimate injunction: “to make the face speak.” Her face—her faces—have always taken on the appearance of a landscape, sculpted by infinite shades of gleam, carved by valleys, traversed by shadows.

The book presents a significant selection of paintings and drawings, and includes pages of her sketchbook, a kind of intimate diary showing her inspiration and her spontaneous approach to painting. It is the first monographic publication on a promising young talent, with great potential.

Line Papin is a French novelist, born in Vietnam and living in Paris. She published her first novel at the age of 21 and has published two successful novels since then.

Reconstructing an omitted chapter of art history. The Untold History of Immersive Art

At the intersection of art, architecture and design, environments create and transform space into an immersive experience, inviting the audience to engage and interact. So far, art history has been focused on the works of male artists mostly from the US and Europe. Inside Other Spaces: Environments by Women Artists 1956–1976 aims to signpost a different narrative by highlighting women’s fundamental contributions to this field. Redefining the canon, the exhibition features 11 pioneering women artists from three generations, spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas, including Judy Chicago, Aleksandra Kasuba, and Lygia Clark. Given the experimental nature of such environments, many of these original works were deconstructed or destroyed. The detailed reconstructions, which are carried out with the help of restorers and based on archival photographs, construction plans, and material lists, are presented here for the first time. Conceived as a reference book for the historiography of environments, the publication comprises a wealth of visual material also on artists not featured in the show, such as Yayoi Kusama and Yoko Ono, providing leading scholars’ essays and extensive bibliographies on environments and individual artists.
