Guido Taroni, Melissa Biggs Bradley
ID: 17103
Издательство: Vendome Press

Luxury adventure travel pioneer Melissa Biggs Bradley and fashion photographer Guido Taroni present a stunning photographic volume showcasing the interior décor of Africa’s foremost luxury and eco-safari lodges—and celebrates the role that photographic safaris have played in preserving threatened species and wilderness areas.

Safari Style unveils Africa’s new generation of camps and lodges in a lavish volume of spectacular photographs. The book captures the astonishing settings and design ingenuity of the 21st-century eco-safari destination in seven countries—from the classic lodges of Kenya to the indulgent resorts of South Africa and the inspired eco-designed camps of Rwanda.

Handpicked for their outstanding locations in wildlife enclaves, distinctly regional architecture and interiors, and their essential focus on sustainability and conservation, these special properties represent the ultimate African encounter. Drawing on the early 20th-century tradition of the safari, they have reinvigorated the experience with access to parts of Africa previously out of bounds, notably Rwanda, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. These new camps and lodges reinvent the safari and represent a fresh approach to wildlife conservation involving local populations.

Jennifer Ash Rudick, Tria Giovan
ID: 17147
Издательство: Vendome Press

Whether ultramodern or hundreds of years old, every one of the summer houses in Jennifer Ash Rudick and Tria Giovan’s lavish coffee table book Summer to Summer: Houses By the Sea is brimming with idiosyncratic style.

From the rocky coast of Maine to the sandy beaches of the Hamptons, from Nantucket to Newport, from Fire Island to Fishers Island, from Martha’s Vineyard to Provincetown, summer houses are as varied in style as the people who hightail it to the beach as soon as the temperature climbs. In this lushly illustrated book, author Jennifer Ash Rudick has sought out twenty-five of the best. She invites us into a minimally decorated, Isamu Noguchi–designed home in Northeast Harbor and Sister Parrish’s cozy multigenerational house in Dark Harbor. We imagine relaxing in a comfortably cushioned rattan chair on the sun porch of a Nantucket house designed by Tom Scheerer, taking in the view of Long Island Sound through the glass curtain wall of a sleek house on Fishers Island, and feeling snugly cosseted in a tiny Provincetown cottage.

With over 300 full-color photographs, all we need to do is settle back, kick off our shoes, and let the sun-kissed pages of Summer to Summer wash over us.

About the Authors:

Jennifer Ash Rudick is the author of Palm Beach Chic, Out East: Houses and Gardens of the Hamptons, and City of Angels: Houses and Gardens of Los Angeles. Издательство: Prestel

Taste and Place: The Design Hotels Book is a broad and inclusive exploration of food, an integral part of purposeful travel.

In our most ambitious book yet, we have called upon leading writers, photographers, creative chefs, and culinary innovators to explore forward-looking ideas and inspiring practices around food in our hotels, destinations, and larger community. Featuring stories from Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica, Rastrello in Italy, Satoyama Jujo in Japan, and many more Design Hotels locations, these stories go beyond the dish, the kitchen, and the dining room to reveal the holistic connectivity of food.

We find that the ecosystem of a hotel seen through the lens of food provides a perfect microcosm to better understand bigger system changes. With this rather special book, we at Design Hotels reflect on what we can bring to these shifts in terms of the hospitality we support and want to see in the future. Read more about our journey here.

Taste and Place: The Design Hotels Book includes a story about how kitchen camaraderie is created at Bursa Hotel in Kyiv, Ukraine. The hotel has been forced to close its doors for now due to the war, but the team is safe and has given us their approval to go ahead with the book release. As a sign of our support, we pledge to donate this year’s online sale profits to humanitarian aid actions suggested by our two Ukrainian member hotels.

Luca Masia
ID: 17291
Издательство: Rizzoli

This book tells the story of the Zacchera family, masters of hospitality, charting their lives from the unification of Italy to the present day.

Together with Lake Como and Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore is one of the main attractions of the Italian landscape. A true natural spectacle emerges around the lake comprising alpine peaks with imposing valleys cutting through them. Lake Maggiore is not just a natural landscape, however. The famous Borromean Islands, with lush gardens and noble palaces, the historic villages of Baveno, Stresa, and Pallanza encapsulate centuries of history and art treasures that conquer the hearts of hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.

The Zaccheras were a family of fishermen from Baveno, a picturesque village on Lake Maggiore. They carried out their activities when Napoleon was staying at Villa Borromeo after his battles in Italy. Today their hotels in Baveno and Stresa rank among the most prestigious in Lake Maggiore, a constant destination for tourists from all over the world.

This is also a fundamental business system for the promotion of the region. It is a unique landscape to be discovered without haste: the calm of the lake, the mountains reflected in the water, the wind that caresses the birds in flight, historic homes, and islands lulled by a mild climate that allows citrus fruits to ripen at the foot of the Alps.

About the Author:

Luca Masia is a publicist, author, and television and theater writer. He has curated numerous biographies and company monographs, telling the stories of incredible lives, and has written about the events behind the histories of many companies and institutions.

Travel has become an integral part of modern life and the geographic setting in which travellers find themselves is constantly changing. To be far from home is at once an adventure and a necessary thing, and as such the expectations placed in the hostelries where travellers spend much of their time rise. Neither their otherness nor their individuality should be a barrier to travellers feeling at home in the foreign environment.

The establishments presented here measure up to these expectations in their own unique ways. The conceptualization and location of the hotels and the visions of developers or architects have resulted in places of character that reject ordinariness without sacrificing comfort and a sense of well being on the part of the guest. In this way, the hotel becomes the pioneer in the evolution of modern residential experiences.

Following the formula of earlier theme publications – Countryside Hotels, Designed Spaces, Historical Ties, Luxury Residences, Mountain Pastime, Urban Hideouts and Wellness Islands – this volume presents more than fifty luxury hotels, all of them remarkable examples of architecture and design. Detailed blueprint material and large photographs serve as dual invitations to readers to undertake a trip of their own to a foreign land.

Издательство: Flammarion

Exceptional new photography brings readers behind the scenes of the Trianons and Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet at Versailles ― including areas usually closed to the public.

Life in the Château de Versailles was dense with pomp and circumstance, and the royals often craved a quiet moment with friends and lovers far from the din of the court. Hidden away from the palace on the grounds nearby, the kings built the Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, and the Queen’s Hamlet, where they could slip away to entertain their inner circle. This book explores every aspect of life at these private outbuildings, from the furnishings and gardens to the history and inhabitants.

In 1687, Sun King Louis XIV conceived of the Grand Trianon and its exceptional parterres and fountains as a seamless link between court and garden ― a private retreat where he could withdraw with his family and escape the heavy hand of protocol. Louis XV commissioned the Petit Trianon, a neoclassical masterpiece with four unique facades, and its famous menagerie and botanical gardens. Louis XVI bestowed the Petit Trianon on Marie Antoinette; in her gardens and picturesque hamlet and farm, the queen’s presence is more tangible here than anywhere else at Versailles.

This handsome volume with newly commissioned photography is both a historical testimony and an intimate visit on the grounds of the palace of Versailles.

About the Author:

Jacques Moulin is the chief architect for numerous French heritage sites, including Versailles. Francis Hammond has contributed to many books, including Versailles: A Private Invitation, Historic Houses of Paris, and A Day at Versailles. Yves Carlier, general curator at Versailles and specialist in sixteenth- to nineteenth-century French decorative arts and design, wrote A Day at Versailles.
