This book provides the best study of Art and Crafts style jewelry and metalwork to date. Devised late in the 19th century as a reaction to industrialized manufacturing, the Arts and Crafts movement stressed naturalistic materials, designs and techniques. The book begins with the British movement and traces the roots of this "new art" including its characteristics, materials, motifs, influences and makers' marks. Biographical sketches are provided for over 240 of the most influential British designers/jewelers/metalworkers, with discussions of the guilds, schools and commercial firms. In over 700 photographs, nearly 400 in glorious color, the success of these designs to provide fascinating and beautiful objects is demonstrated.

Stellene Volandes is an internationally renowned expert in jewelry. In addition to writing about jewelry for Town & Country (where she is also editor in chief), she hosts a series at the 92nd Street Y on jewels and their history. Her first book, Jeweler, was published by Rizzoli in 2016.

Joe Sorren’s oil paintings redefine naturalist scenery such as caves, reefs, and seashores, inserting a surreal mood through soft, eerie imagery, thick Impressionist-inspired brushstrokes, and animalistic figures caught mid-motion.

Although the subjects are often childlike, the postures and weariness betray adult maturity, drawing a fine line between the vulnerable and precocious. "In the middle of the seventeenth century Johann von Nassau returned to his estate and castle at Idstein, which had been devastated by the Thirty Years War. A sophisticated collector, he acquired paintings, stuffed birds and objects of every kind for his cabinet of curiosities. He created a garden full of rare plant species, grottoes decorated with shells, fountains, and flower-beds in the shape of vegetables and fruit. In the desire to immortalize his garden, Johann von Nassau engaged Johann Walter (1604-1677), a painter from Strasbourg, to record it. This was the origin of the Florilegium, a work of great artistic quality.

Now kept in the department of Prints and Photography of the BNF, it comprises 54 gouaches on vellum, including a portrait of the prince in his cabinet of curiosities, a portrait of the painter, and views of the castle and garden, following by 30 plates depicting flowers and 12 depicting fruits, all remarkable originality."

John Cage. Imaginary Landscapes, Concerts and Musicircus, are the contents of the catalogue that documents the exhibition, of the same title, realized in the Espai d'Art Contemporani de Castello. Apart from having a section of theoretical texts developed by Joan Cerveró, Francisco Ramos, Carmen Pardo, Vicente Carretón Cano and Richard Kostelanetz, the catalogue also reflects on each of the activities that were realized during the exhibition, (concerts, operas, dance, auditions and pedagogic concerts, workshops, lectures, conferences, meetings and round table discussions). Lastly, the publication contains a biography on Cage, a chronology, including a chronologic list of his work, discography, bibliography and filmography about the composer. The idea that founded both the exhibition and the publication was to pay homage to one of the most important artists and musicians of our time, while at the same time disseminating and promoting his core body of work. To this end, the art centre was transformed into a concert hall, a stage and a meeting place for a plethora of events where the connection with John Cage was made not just as a mere spectator but also as an active participant. One of the main ideas of the project is to stage various scenarios, like his Imaginary Landscapes , where Cage s works were performed. These spaces were designed specifically for the EACC as several little installations that transform the exhibition hall into one huge sound installation.
