The most highly publicized building renewal process in the world today-and the most significant survey of competing architecture designs since the international design competition for the Chicago Tribune Tower in 1922-is for the reconstruction of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. It has inspired a multitude of designs and has engaged architects on a global scale in the re-imagining of the vacant 16-acre site.

Published in conjunction with Architectural Record, the most important architecture journal in the United States, Imagining Ground Zero documents not only the various competitions sponsored by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation but also the informal proposals sponsored by the New York Times, New York Magazine, and the exhibition at Max Protetch Gallery, as well as a selection from thousands of schemes submitted independently for the World Trade Center site and Memorial.

With its exhaustive approach to these myriad voices in the discourse surrounding the World Trade Center site, Imagining Ground Zero is destined to become the canonical reference for this unprecedented event in world architecture.

The book is classified into five parts: landscape of plaza, park, waterfront landscape, public landscape, residential landscape, and fully provides the readers an overview of design principles and the tendency of urban landscape development through the rich information. This is not only a collection of recent design proposals for landscape worldwide; rather, features are addressed in details, such as the relationship between living space and ecological environment. What designers are pursuing is the better living environment and higher living quality for the people. Moreover, the landscape design is related to the development of human beings and sustainability.

Тема исторического города и новой архитектуры стала главной для XVI Московского международного фестиваля «Зодчество-2008», прошедшего в Манеже в октябре 2008 года. Ее актуальность исторически почти вечна. Развитие искусства состоит в поиске новых средств выразительности языка и пластики форм, что и приводит к смене стилей, которые фиксирует история искусств, в том числе и история архитектуры. Почему же сегодня появление новых объектов в исторической среде вызывает обширную общественную полемику и, как правило, негативную оценку? Почему новое строительство расценивается как агрессивное вторжение в гармоничную городскую среду, хотя она тоже сложилась из стилистически разных компонентов? На эти и многие другие вопросы дают ответ проекты лауреатов международного фестиваля «Зодчество-2008».

Традиционный, второй том официальных каталогов фестиваля «Зодчество» за 2009 год содержит полную информацию о победителях конкурсных программ ведущего российского архитектурного форума. Каталог открывает вступительная статья председателя большого жюри фестиваля, известного российского архитектора, первого вице-президента Союза архитекторов России Сергея Киселева. Иллюстративная часть каталога представляет проект обладателя премии «Хрустальный Дедал», призеров и дипломантов смотров-конкурсов «Архитектурные произведения. Постройки», «Архитектурные произведения. Проекты», «Архитектурные коллективы, Проектные институты», «Архитектурные коллективы. Мастерские», «Архитектура городов и регионов России. Города», «Архитектура городов и регионов России. Регионы», «Творчество молодых архитекторов».

Фестивали «Зодчество», организуемые Союзом архитекторов России, – события национального масштаба, которые открывают уникальную возможность получить представление о современном состоянии архитектуры и градостроительства в стране. Это единственная и самая крупная выставочная площадка, где можно одновременно увидеть результаты архитектурной и градостроительной деятельности многих городов и регионов России, творческих архитектурных коллективов, проектных институтов, мастерских и бюро, молодых архитекторов, студентов архитектурных вузов и факультетов, детских архитектурно-художественных коллективов. Кульминацией фестиваля ежегодно является вручение главного приза – национальной премии в области архитектуры «Хрустальный Дедал». Тема фестиваля «Зодчество-2009», предложенная куратором Юрием Аввакумовым – «Индекс устойчивости». Индекс устойчивости – это индикатор успеха и перспектив на будущее в нынешних условиях. Программа фестиваля «Зодчество-2009» предусматривает проведение восьми тематических конкурсов, выставок зарубежной архитектуры, современных строительных материалов и технологий, творческих дискуссий, круглых столов, семинаров, лекций российских и зарубежных архитекторов. Вся программа, а также данные всех участников фестиваля впервые в полном формате отражены на страницах обновленного каталога фестиваля.

В этом году издательству «Татлин» был доверен выпуск главного каталога международной премии имени Якова Чернихова для молодых архитекторов «ICIF 2008: Вызов времени». Он представляет работы 76 архитекторов из более чем 20 стран мира, претендующие на звание самого инновационного и концептуального проекта современности и будущего. Среди участников – Грег Линн, Юрген Майер, Nendo, ателье Bow-wow, Филипп Рам, агентство 5+1АА, Атриум, архитектурный офис Baukuh, DSDHA, FOA, GPY arquitectos, Шува Тей, Жульен де Смедт, Меритт Бучольз, Виктор Зотов, Эрнан Диаз Алонсо… и, конечно же, победитель – участник архитектурной биеннале в Венеции Джуниа Ишигами. Каталог дает возможность подробно познакомиться со спецификой конкурса, его международными экспертами, членами жюри, деятельностью, наградами и основными проектами всех участников.

Деревянный дом – плоть от плоти русской природы. И она ведь не умирает в нем, а продолжает жить, дышать и даже стареет – красиво. Но почему же сегодня в России, когда-то бывшей «деревянной державой», так мало строят из дерева? Почему деревянные дома так однообразны и бывают ли красивые? Возможна ли вообще современная архитектура из дерева? Ответом на часть этих вопросов стала выставка "Новое деревянное. Русская архитектура в поисках идентичности", которая прошла в Музее архитектуры в октябре 2009 года. На ней было представлено 120 самых разных сооружений из дерева, построенных российскими зодчими за последние 10 лет. А чтобы ответить на остальные вопросы, компания  HONKA и PR-агентство "Правила Общения" учредили архитектурную премию за лучшее сооружение из дерева – АРХИWOOD. И сегодня мы представляем вам результаты первого опыта. Это 50 объектов, построенных (или спроектированных) за последний год, прошедшие предварительный отбор Экспертного совета, распределенные по пяти номинациям: "Функция", "Конструктив", "Дерево в отделке", "Арт-объект", "Проект".
