Yves Saint Laurent: Inside Out presents an extraordinarily intimate insight into a fascinating world of creativity in the latter, sumptuous phase of Saint Laurent’s career, between 1989 and his final collection in 2002.

The book offers a comprehensive and multi-faceted exploration of the life of an haute couture house: from informal, atmospheric portraits of Yves Saint Laurent at work in his studio, drawing and creating, to the behind-the-scenes work of the ‘petites mains’ in the ateliers, the skilled army of artisans whose activity is rarely documented. The house’s world-famous models also feature, captured during pre-collection fittings in the house’s grandiose salons and in electric backstage moments before the shows.

Private archive materials – letters, documents, drawings, and ephemera – that situate the protagonists and give context to the unique position that the young Carlos enjoyed as a ‘fly on the wall’ in this rarefied universe are also included in the book, and published here for the first time.

A moving and visually stunning tribute to the iconic Yves Saint Laurent house as you’ve never seen it before, Yves Saint Laurent: Inside Out will be a must-have for fashion and photography fans.

In this stunning book, one of the world’s leading Asian art dealers reveals her passion project ― collecting French haute couturefrom the twentieth century and telling the stories of the women who wore them.

An Eye for Couture presents and explores Francesca Galloway’s collection of 20th-century haute couture and fashion, built over a period of thirty-five years. The book includes an outstanding group of over 100 pieces, concentrating of the work of couturiers who shaped fashion and whose pieces embodied the zeitgeist of their time. Among those featured in this book are Paul Poiret, Gabrielle Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Christian Dior and Paco Rabanne.

These garments and accessories come to life through the women who wore them. Denise Poiret ― Paul’s muse, collaborator and model ― is the subject of a specially commissioned essay. So is Princess Niloufer of Hyderabad, known as one of the most beautiful women in the world. She was photographed by Horst P. Horst for Vogue in 1939 and used her status to campaign for women’s rights. The book also looks at the 1960s as a period where designers such as Paco Rabanne and Yves Saint Laurent were shaping ideas of the future, as well as the influence of Eastern design on haute couture.

One of the world’s leading Asian Art dealers in Indian painting, courtly arts and Asian textiles, Francesca Galloway has curated many exhibitions and produced numerous publications on these subjects since the 1980s. With a curatorial perspective and an eye for design innovators and revolutionaries, an appreciation for the highest artistry and a sensibility for the influence of eastern design on haute couture, she has assembled a collection spanning more than one hundred pieces. The book’s striking imagery is the result of a collaboration between a fashion photographer, set designer and costume conservator/dresser. The images are positioned between haute couture and still life photography to bring these pieces of fashion history to life.

This first complete investigation into Karl Lagerfeld’s (1933–2019) artistry explores his extraordinary 65-year career, from the designs for Chloé and Fendi in the 1960s and 1970s to his celebrated leadership in the 1980s and beyond at Chanel and with his own label. Inspired by the “line of beauty” theorized by eighteenth-century English painter William Hogarth, this dazzling publication pursues the straight and serpentine “lines” and their intersections in Lagerfeld’s work as a means of understanding his unique creative process.

The book’s elegant parchment and cloth cover, emulating an artist’s portfolio, opens onto a pageant of stunning new photography by Julia Hetta of Lagerfeld’s fashion alongside the designer’s original sketches. The juxtaposition of drawings with finished pieces offers a window into Lagerfeld’s creative brilliance. Texts include personal reflections from Lagerfeld’s premières d’ateliers — the seamstresses behind his extraordinary creations — as well as Anna Wintour, Patrick Hourcade, Amanda Harlech, and Tadao Ando. Not only a lavish objet but also an important resource on Lagerfeld, the book concludes with an illustrated timeline of the designer’s long and illustrious career.

Maison Martin Margiela, Contribution by Jean-Paul Gaultier, Susannah Frankel, Andree Putman and Vanessa Beecroft
ID: 7964
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Graduating from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the 1980s, Martin Margiela (and his contemporaries in the Antwerp Six) transformed global fashion with his aggressive restatement of traditional fashion design and a polemical approach to luxury trends. Working first with the house of Gaultier, Margiela absorbed the radical design of Japanese deconstruction, making it wholly his own with the founding of his own label in 1988. Margiela propounds a singular, enigmatic look, moving beyond the recognizable tropes of deconstruction - a monochromatic palette, outsized garments, non-traditional fabrics, exposed seams, or roughly appliquéd details - to develop a fully considered worldview, one with elegance, mystery, and menace in equal measure.

This book provides an inside look at the design process from a craftsman who creates pieces prized for their originality, delicacy, and daring. In the spirit of Margiela’s garments, the book is a work of art in itself, designed exclusively by Margiela and complete with silver inks, ribbon markers, a variety of lush paper types, twelve booklets, and an embroidered white-linen cover. This book provides a window onto the intimate, handmade world of a unique designer.

Martin Margiela, born in 1957 in Leuven, Belgium, is the principal designer of his own Paris-based fashion house.

An exclusive look at one hundred fabulous shoes from the renowned Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

A hundred pairs of shoes, from the 16th to the 21st century, paint a vivid picture of how shoe styles have changed — sometimes radically — over the years. They also reveal how some trends have reappeared throughout the ages. For instance, platform shoes were worn by fashionable Venetian women from the 15th to the 17th century and by Manchu Chinese women in the 1800s. In the late 1930s, Salvatore Ferragamo introduced a modern version of the platform shoe, and updated versions appeared in the 1970s and 1990s.

Beautifully designed and produced, this brilliant follow-up to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's 100 Dresses presents examples of fashionable footwear in a range of styles, from flats to stilettos and everything in between. Among them are shoes designed by Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Roger Vivier, and Vivienne Westwood. Images of the shoes are accompanied by informative text and enhanced by works of art, contemporary photos, and portraits of designers. Sure to spark the imaginations of anyone interested in fashion and design, 100 Shoes details how women have used these essential fashion accessories to elevate their style, stature, and status throughout the centuries. An introduction by fashion-forward actress Sarah Jessica Parker adds to the accessibility and appeal of this delightful volume.

  • "Fashion Design: A Guide to the Industry and the Creative Proces" - книга, в якій Дені Антуан розповідає про методологію дизайнерських ідей, принципи розробки та презентації одягу, супроводжуючи свою розповідь фотографіями, ілюстраціями, малюнками з альбомів, технічними href="https://designbook.com.ua/catalog/dizajn/graficheskij-dizajn-4">малюнаками та інфографікою і навіть інформативними тематичними дослідженнями.
  • "Fabric for Fashion: The Complete Guide: Natural and Man-made Fibres" - одна з небагатьох книг, в якій розповідається про властивості різних тканин та правила їх використання модельєрами.
  • “Fashion Drawing: Illustration Techniques for Fashion Designers” –

  • так званий архітектурний одяг, розрахований із застосуванням математичних формул або зроблений з матеріалів, надрукованих на 3D-принтері;
  • енергогенеруючий одяг із гнучкими сонячними батареями;
