Packaging is an important factor in any retail environment and a key element in most marketing strategies. Consumers react immediately to package shapes, and are influenced by them when making buying decisions. Different product categories are often easy to recognise by their characteristic form, for example chocolate boxes or milk cartons. On the other hand, a manufacturer of an exclusive product, such as jewellery or perfume, may deliberately choose an unusual, eye-catching form.

Folding Patterns for Display and Publicity is a unique step-by-step manual, containing hundreds of great folding ideas and ready-to-use designs. This book is an essential tool for anyone involved in the fields of graphic and industrial design, advertising and printing. All patterns are stored in eps vector format on the enclosed CD-ROMs. They may be used freely to create new designs, and can be scaled and modified to suit any conceivable purpose.

Amid our ever-growing consumption of data visualization, nothing makes for tastier morsels than the fine art of food and dining. Ushering the cookbook into the future, this volume gathers together the best infographics of all things eating, drinking, and cuisine, from measurement conversion charts and recipes for cookies and cocktails to stress-free party planning.

A must-have for every 21st-century foodie, this is gastro-guidance at its most visually appealing as much as expert. Want to master sashimi? Know the secret to perfectly grilled steak? Wow, guests with your own dry martini? Food & Drink Infographics has all the answers and more, using the best culinary graphics to answer kitchen conundrums in a lively, simple, and memorable form.

You’ll find infographics on all the food groups, from grains and pulses to fruit and vegetables, to fish, meat, and poultry. Recipe ideas include soups, sandwiches, snacks, sweet treats, and just-right dressings. Other sections cover flavour pairings, baking, cooking tools and techniques, and alcohols, coffee, and tea.

The book opens with a foreword by cooking author Michael Ruhlman, followed by a historic survey of food imagery examining how and where pictures have been used to enjoy, prepare, and serve food and drink, from Egyptian tomb paintings showing flatbread being made to 19th-century classics such as Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management. Slick, smart, and packed full of perfect nuggets of advice, Food & Drink Infographics rounds up a delightful visual exploration of food and dining as much as an indispensable collection of everyday tips, techniques, and temptations.

An overview of the most famous classic bags as well as the latest and hottest Instagram stars

Women love handbags because they are a perfect vehicle — not just for keys, credit cards, and lipstick, but also their dreams and desires. Luxury labels made the humble purse into a billion-dollar business in the 20th century, but the purse is more than just a status symbol. Because it is constantly being reinvented, it wields a greater influence on everyday fashion than any hemline or silhouette. For the Love of Bags is a homage to the power of the pocketbook: from icons like the Kelly Bag, the first “must-have” item ever, to popular Paris fashion house labels and the latest Instagram stars, this book details the history of the “it” bag and decodes the messages handbags communicate.

Women have long realized that cool shoes do not only complement the outfit, they are the whole point. From Cinderella to Carrie, we have all fallen head over heels for “the right pair”—and to hell with cost or comfort! This book explores the outer realms of avant-garde shoe design. Unfettered by commercialism, these pioneering designers give full rein to their artistic visions. These zany pieces contain an array of extraordinary forms and materials. With influences ranging from Las Vegas pizzazz and arcane tribal relics to contemporary architecture, it may be difficult to distinguish between fun footwear and conceptual sculpture.

Shortly after, she began reporting for the German edition of Harper’s Bazaar. Today, the author still resides in New York, working as US editor-at-large for the magazine.

NINA ZYWIETZ studied psychology and sociology in Wuppertal and Los Angeles, and after several stints with various agencies, landed in London, where she worked for a large communications agency in the fashion industry. A celebration of the enormously popular Italian painter, sculptor and interior decorator

Piero Fornasetti established an enduring reputation as a designer with a style that was all his own – a style based on illusionism, architectural perspectives and a host of personal leitmotifs, such as the sun, playing cards and fishes, from which he spun seemingly endless variations. 'He makes objects speak' said Gio Ponti, his friend and longtime collaborator.

Designers and collectors today celebrate his use of allusion, unsettling images and striking juxtaposition to create unique, whimsical objects. Fornasetti's masterpieces shock, delight and inspire.

Perspective is a discipline often set aside when it comes to general art study, though it is essential to master in order to produce any piece of art that is and feels realistic. As intimidating as perspective may seem to aspiring artists, celebrated artist and author Marcos Mateu-Mestre takes the mystery out of understanding and applying it correctly with his highly anticipated two-volume collection, Framed Perspective.

In Framed Perspective, Vol. 1: Technical Drawing for Visual Storytelling, Mateu-Mestre equips artists with the technical knowledge needed to produce successful visual storytelling–related drawings: from understanding the basics of the space around us and how we perceive it, to more sophisticated endeavors such as creating entire environments that are believable.

Sure to be one of the most popular books in your art library, thanks to Mateu-Mestre’s thorough step-by-step explanations and awe-inspiring illustrations, Framed Perspective, Vol. 1 will train you to enjoy every curve and slope you see in the world and, more importantly, translate that vision into art with a solid comprehension of depth and proportion — in short, accuracy. Your perspective will never be the same!

About the Author:

Born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Marcos Mateu-Mestre is a lead animation designer and graphic novel artist with three decades of experience in feature animation. Some of his film credits include Balto, The Prince of Egypt, Asterix and The Vikings, Surf's Up, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. His work in film, primarily for DreamWorks Animation, Netflix Animation and Sony Pictures Animation, has focused on the design and cinematic aspects of frame composition, lighting, and visual continuity, experience he shared in his international best-sellers, Framed Ink: Drawing and Composition for Visual Storytellers, Framed Perspective Vol.1, Framed Perspective Vol. 2, and Framed Drawing Techniques. In addition to his work in film, he has taught drawing, illustration, and visual storytelling techniques for more than a decade. Mateu-Mestre currently lives in Los Angeles and is a production designer at Netflix.
