Actors often say they only really assume the identity of their character when they have donned the costumes painstakingly created for them by the costume designer. In this volume of the Filmcraft series, sixteen of the worlds greatest costume designers come together to share their inspiration and knowledge with the world. They provide insights into the challenges of building a team, working with budgets, and collaboration with production designers, actors and directors. Designers featured include Academy Award winners like Aggie Guerard Rodgers, Janty Yates and Lindy Hemming and nominees Julie Weiss and Mary Zophres, and BAFTA winner Michael Kaplan.

An overview of the most famous classic bags as well as the latest and hottest Instagram stars

Women love handbags because they are a perfect vehicle — not just for keys, credit cards, and lipstick, but also their dreams and desires. Luxury labels made the humble purse into a billion-dollar business in the 20th century, but the purse is more than just a status symbol. Because it is constantly being reinvented, it wields a greater influence on everyday fashion than any hemline or silhouette. For the Love of Bags is a homage to the power of the pocketbook: from icons like the Kelly Bag, the first “must-have” item ever, to popular Paris fashion house labels and the latest Instagram stars, this book details the history of the “it” bag and decodes the messages handbags communicate.

Her first style guide, Who is Who im Kleiderschrank (A Closet Who’s Who), a collaboration with Kera Till, was published in 2014.

DENNIS BRAATZ, born in 1986, studied fashion journalism and media communication at the Akademie Mode & Design in Munich. Women have long realized that cool shoes do not only complement the outfit, they are the whole point. From Cinderella to Carrie, we have all fallen head over heels for “the right pair”—and to hell with cost or comfort! This book explores the outer realms of avant-garde shoe design. Unfettered by commercialism, these pioneering designers give full rein to their artistic visions. These zany pieces contain an array of extraordinary forms and materials. With influences ranging from Las Vegas pizzazz and arcane tribal relics to contemporary architecture, it may be difficult to distinguish between fun footwear and conceptual sculpture.

72 tritone photographs, 19 color photographs

In July 1997 Gianni Versace had begun his Fall Collection when his life was tragically cut short. It was up to his sister Donatella to bravely pick up the pieces and finish what her beloved brother had started. That October was Gianni's last collection and Donatella's first. It was an end and new beginning … a metamorphosis and change for the Versaces, a metaphor for life itself.

At the special invitation of the Versace family, Sante D'Orazio painted a photographic masterpiece of that milestone, both front- and backstage. For a decade the Versace family has kept these cherished images private. However, they are being published now to mark the 10th anniversary of that landmark collection—a fitting tribute to Gianni Versace and his talented and devoted sister Donatella.

Hollywood star, royal bride, beloved princess – Grace Kelly lived all three roles with a style all of her own. Renowned for her cool beauty and faultless good taste, the young actress stood apart from the other film sirens of the fifties, with 1000s of women, both in the US and Europe, emulating her classic yet accessible style. Her marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956 catapulted Grace Kelly to further fame and cemented her influence on the world of fashion. From the Parisian catwalks to the pages of Vogue, the ‘Grace Kelly Look’ became the look of the moment.

This book, the first to look exclusively at Grace’s unique style, accompanies an enchanting exhibition at the V&A opening in April 2010. Sumptuously illustrated, the book introduces Grace’s glamorous wardrobe as she transformed herself from actress to bride to princess.
