About the Author:

Mary Miers commutes between her home in the Scottish Highlands and England, where she works as the Fine Arts and Books Editor for Country Life magazine. Her books include: 'The English Country House’ (Rizzoli); 'Highlands and Islands; an anthology of poetry of place’ (Eland); and 'The Western Seaboard; an illustrated architectural guide’ (Rutland Press). The late Paul Barker was one of England’s premier interior and architectural photographers, whose books included English Country House Interiors, The Drawing Room, and English Ruins.

About the Author:

Alain Stella is a traveler and writer. He has published numerous books with Flammarion including The Book of Coffee (1997), The Book of Tea (1992/2005), The Little Book of Coffee (2001), French Tea: Mariage Frères—Three Centuries of Savoir-Faire (2009), Distinctive Vintages (2008), and The Book of Spices (2000). 

Francis Hammond’s photographs have been published in French Tea: Mariage Frères and Elegant Entertaining (2009). He regularly works in the fashion and advertising industries, contributes to international magazines, and divides his time between New York and Paris.

Michael is the co-author of the Rizzoli publication, Julius Shulman: Palm Springs and Director of the film "Julius Shulman: Desert Modern" which aired on PBS. He has lectured extensively and made numerous television and film appearances discussing the joys of modern architecture. Alan Hess is the author of eighteen books, including Palm Springs Weekend, Frank Lloyd Wright: The Houses (Rizzoli), Organic Architecture, The Architecture of John Lautner (Rizzoli), Googie: Fifties Coffee Shop Architecture, Oscar Niemeyer, Houses (Rizzoli), and numerous others.
