This book showcases some of the most exciting and innovative environmentally-friendly products for creating wonderful living spaces for children. Children spend such a large amount of their time at home - study, rest, and play - that having a space of their own, where they can develop their creativity and sense of self, is extremely important. It is in this space we can begin to inform children of the value of the environment and sustainability.

Green Design for Kids is a magnificently illustrated volume that showcases how recycled, eco-friendly, and bio-degradable materials can be used to create innovative, practical, and stimulating products for children and their spaces the live in.

A glimpse into the "quintessentially Greenwich" homes that are stately and elegant yet designed for the comforts of family life.

Greenwich is one of the most desirable communities in the United States, with houses that epitomize the suburban tradition. With their handsome facades and elegant interiors, these homes provide inspiration to decorators and homeowners nationwide. More than almost any other community, Greenwich signifies a classic look, a way of living, and a state of mind.

Cindy Rinfret’s successful Classic Greenwich Style was the first book to celebrate the style of this classically American town and bring its renowned look to a nationwide audience. Now, the beloved designer returns with an all-new selection of interiors that will appeal to a new generation of homeowners seeking elegant yet comfortable design.

Specially commissioned photographs showcase the designer’s signature "young traditional" style: a warm blend of color, contemporary materials with traditional shapes, antiques with transitional pieces, English-style furnishings with family heirlooms, and spaces for entertaining and family life. In her own words, Rinfret offers an intimate look into these stunning interiors - including Rinfret’s own classically styled house, Laurel Hill - and shows how people who covet the look and style of Greenwich can create it for themselves.

About the Author:

Cindy Rinfret is an award-winning interior designer and the owner of Rinfret Ltd., a leading design firm in Greenwich, and Rinfret Home & Garden, a retail space on the fashionable Greenwich Avenue. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Traditional Home, and Architectural Digest, as well as on HGTV.

In our high-technological post-industrial society people are increasingly moving back towards true craftsmanship. Passionate craftsmen, who work according to ancient traditions, are consequently also highly valued – except they are not always easy to find.

About twenty carefully selected craftspeople are presented in this richly illustrated book. They all argue for a recovery of our traditional cultural heritage of crafts and give a new élan to the skilled knowledge of their ancestors.

Ask almost anyone to describe their ideal home, and the chances are that it’ll be spacious and glamorously decorated, as though it has leapt straight from the pages of a glossy magazine. But enviable decor alone does not result in happiness. The days of simply ‘getting the look’ are over; we are now more interested in achieving a contented home life than in considering purely the aesthetics of our interiors. After all, home is not simply a pretty backdrop to life, but a practical and integral part of it. In this timely new book, interiors expert Rebecca Winward first considers what makes our homes so vital to our happiness, then outlines the basic principles that create a happy home. The main part of the book follows a clear room-by-room arrangement, with sections on such elements as layout, colour, coverings for walls and floors, storage and accessories for each main space in the house. Useful, down-to-earth advice is accompanied by inspirational photographs from stylish homes of all kinds, and every chapter concludes with a list of dos and don’ts for achieving the perfect happy room. Happy Home is not so much about a certain style as about a certain style philosophy. Follow these principles, and your home will be functional, beautiful – and ultimately happier.

• The essential guide to making a home that suits your needs perfectly
• Combines inspirational photographs from a wealth of stylish homes with down-to-earth hints and tips
• Provides specific advice for each room in the house, as well as a guide to the basic principles of making a happy home

No other architect in Australia's history has been as internationally influential or famous as Harry Seidler. Presented in a two-book boxed set, Houses and Interiors 1 & 2 provide insight and analysis of the designs selected by Seidler to be his most important. The first book looks at the early years of his design career. Photographs are paralleled with concise plans and essays in a dossier showcasing this Austrian-born architect's empathy with the Australian landscape. The early designs are often in contrast to the complexities and dimensions of his later designs, comprehensively featured in the second book.

With essays by Seidler himself, these books have been edited by internationally recognised architecture writer and educator Chris Abel. Awarded the RAIA Gold Medal and the RIBA Gold Medal in 1996, Seidler attended the Walter Gropius Master Class with architect notaries IM Pei and Henry Cobb. He later studied with Marcel Breuer and Josef Albers.

Design your own beautiful sanctuary in any space, with unabashedly feminine style

Whether you are happily single or a mother of four, having a room that pleases you is a common fantasy. After all, what woman doesn’t want a modern, romantic, feminine, grown-up space that she can call her own—where she can listen to opera (or eighties music) and engross herself in the pages of Jane Austen (or the latest celebrity gossip)?

Hers offers hundreds of stylish ways for creating your own private retreat, even when your bedroom doubles as your living room or when delicate furnishings don’t seem compatible with kid-friendly living. With some thoughtful rethinking of your home’s layout and some imagination, you can dedicate part of a shared space to your own interests, and Jacqueline deMontravel will show you how.

These interiors celebrate the beauty and comfort of feminine design with color, furniture shapes, and attractive accessories. Lose yourself in such imaginative possibilities as:

   • an old-glamour boudoir complete with a vanity table and a bed piled high with linens
   • a sophisticated dressing room with a plush ottoman and a floor-to-ceiling mirror
   • a delightful nook created by an antique bench, a Parisian rug positioned beneath a staircase, and a whimsical clock
   • a bedside seating area accented with a tufted lounge chair and a mirrored  nightstand holding a collection of fashion books
   • a small reading corner with a bright orange chair next to a mod table and a vase of Gerbera daisies

And because a woman’s style doesn’t always mean frills and lace, Hers includes modern interpretations of the feminine classics: stripes in place of florals, hot pink shoes displayed like works of art, or a retro red-and-black color scheme with pop accessories.

Along with hundreds of enchanting photographs, you’ll find plenty of ideas for  personalizing and enjoying your space; hints on how to make your space sexy, special, and inviting; guidance on being prepared to entertain guests at a moment’s notice; new ideas for organizing and displaying collections; and even tips for beautifying a work area so it encourages creativity and not stress. With the endless inspiration and ideas in Hers, you’ll learn everything you need to know about designing a place of personalized retreat or where you can just savor doing nothing.

High-rise architecture has provided some of the most technically innovative and aesthetically interesting buildings of recent years, despite its checkered and often controversial history. It has also become some of the most desirable property available in cities throughout the world.

Andrew Weaving hands you the entrance keys to twenty-five different apartments-with-a-view in this rich collection of fabulous, spare photographs that capture unique views of these buildings and their highly livable interiors. High-rise Living features architecture and interior living spaces for high-rise condominiums and apartments in Europe, Asia, Canada, Australia, and the United States, divided in three categories: Classic, Now, and Future.

An engaging introduction recounts the highlights of high-rise architecture from its genesis in "ideal socialist cities" to its contemporary ideal as a solution to environmental and world population housing issues, and covers the work of such architectural greats as Louis Sullivan, Auguste Perret, Frank Lloyd Wright (yes, he did towers!), Le Corbusier, Richard Neutra, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe, Erno Goldfinger, Bertrand Goldberg, I. M. Pei, the Archigram Group, Kisho Kurokawa, and others.

High-rise Living is a fresh look at modern, architecturally designed spaces in which to live, right in the heart of the city.
