After a successful career in Human Resources, Alexander Cambron started a few years ago with the sale of high-quality residential projects, ready for occupation: exclusive country houses, full of character, in a timeless or contemporary style. His high point is ‘Le Paquebot’, a modernist masterwork by the architect Marcel Leborgne in 1935, which has been transformed by Alexander Cambron and his team into an exuberant villa in which respect for the past and a comfortable contemporary lifestyle go hand in hand.

An XL size book (34 x 27 cm) in which every house is shown at its best.

The work of London-based, Persian-born interior designer Alidad is the realization of a fantasy of splendour in elegant brocade and rich damask. Award-winning interior designer Alidad is renowned for creating interiors of comfort made from a warm, glowing elegance with richness, colour, and sumptuous materials. His work is associated with the exacting use of intricately patterned antique and modern textiles, upholstered furniture, and high quality of craftsmanship.

This book presents his unique aesthetic — a kind of controlled glamour that embraces exotic forms, patterns, and fabrics while at the same time evoking the timeless and comforting. Alidad offers a compelling visual survey of his projects, from apartments in London and Paris and villas in Beirut and Kuwait to seaside homes in Sardinia and Cornwall. The work of Alidad is a resplendent tapestry, sewn through with colour upon colour and texture upon texture.

The book also illustrates creatively for the reader Alidad’s approach to the practical issues of interior decoration, from architectural alteration and furniture design to choosing appropriate textiles, and it serves as an intimate resource and an entry into the secrets of evocative design.

Caroline Clifton-Mogg
ID: 8530
Видавництво: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

A building may be beautiful but our homes are also defined by our possessions – without them our living quarters have no personality. It is only when our books and photographs, pictures and cushions are in place that our houses and flats become real homes. All in the Detail provides hundreds of ideas for affordable finishing touches that will enhance the elegance and individuality of your home.

Caroline Clifton-Mogg looks at the principles of display and arrangement, of the importance of scale, and how to edit your possessions so they make the maximum impact, in chapters including Pictures, Mirrors and Other Wall Art; Flowers and Plants; Soft Furnishings; China and Glass; and Living (encompassing Living with Books; Mantelpieces and Fireplaces; and Lighting). Finally, there is a chapter exploring Decorative Collections. From hanging pictures to arranging quirky collections, from displaying textiles to making the most of mantelpieces, Caroline will inspire you to add finishing touches with confidence and flair.

This is a label that can be applied to many different homes: houses in the countryside, built with reclaimed materials, painstakingly restored farmhouses, grand town houses, a minimally designed villa where antiques and design go hand in hand, a house by the sea, furnished in a contemporary classic style…the list goes on.

This is a monograph on celebrated interior design firm Ricky C T Wong Design. It features 24 recent projects Ricky and Simon Chong live by the philosophy, 'Ambience is a passion that cannot be expressed, but experienced'. They regard it as something surpassing physical beauty, an indulgence that delivers unique vitality, stimulation, and spiritual aestheticism to an interior space. It is the concerted coordination of the whole interior environment: the harmony between spatial proportion, illumination, materials and colours that attains a peak of artistic sensation with which to stimulate people's passions and sublime responses. This powerful ambience is demonstrated in projects including clubhouses, flats, houses and retail spaces.

Thomas Jayne
ID: 10199
Видавництво: Monacelli Press

Interior designer and decorative arts and antiques expert Thomas Jayne follows up his essential 2010 compendium The Finest Rooms in America with this new collection of his own work.

Thomas Jayne possesses a unique dual vision—he keeps one eye focused on the aesthetic traditions of the past, and the other looking forward: innovating, creating, and imagining interiors to suit modern sensibilities. His reverence for traditional ideas does not restrict Jayne’s understanding of what makes a beautiful room—rather than seeking to replicate and repeat the exact décor from past, Jayne finds inspiration in the distinctive histories of the spaces in which he works. In every project he undertakes, he draws on his rich academic background in the decorative arts to design interiors that harmonize with their historical settings, yet also connect intimately to the active and modern lives of families who call these remarkable buildings home.

Jayne believes that American interior decoration is unique in its combination of elements from European and Asian cultural traditions with indigenous ideas and materials, in its emphasis on comfort and livability, and in its human scale. Presented here for the first time, his projects reflect this sensibility, drawing from established traditions and reinterpreting them for contemporary life. Drawing on the legacies of Albert Hadley and Sister Parish, Jayne insists on authenticity and comfort, incorporating elegant antiques and art with a subtle but warm palette and a welcoming setting.

In this richly illustrated collection of both city and country residences, Jayne reveals the inspiration and thought behind each design, identifying elements from the architecture, the clients’ collections of art and antiques, and from the site itself that serves as the basis for the decoration of the rooms.

Mary Miers

Видавництво: Rizzoli

Anne Fairfax and Richard Sammons are at the forefront of a movement among architects today who draw inspiration from the wellspring of the classical traditions in architecture.

They have developed a body of work that reflects and adheres to the long-held theories of proportion and order passed down through many past generations of scholarship and practice. The firm's office also served as the headquarters for Henry Hope Reid's Classical America, the only organization offering an alternative to modernist aesthetics until the establishment of the Institute of Classical Architecture in 1992.

The twenty-four projects in this volume show the firm's consistent focus on classical architectural beauty, whether the chosen style be Palladian, Tuscan, Mediterranean, Georgian, Adamesque, Neo-classical, British or Dutch Colonial, Colonial Revival, or even East Coast Shingle Style, in all of which Fairfax & Sammons are eminently proficient.

The projects selected out of the firm's large body of work include country houses located in Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and Florida, including the renovation of townhouses and apartments in New York City — all presented in new color photography.

Thomas O'Brien, Lisa Light
ID: 5890
Видавництво: Abrams

Designer and merchant, collector and tastemaker, Thomas O’Brien has made a career of translating cool notions of modernism into an easy and generous array of modern styles that anyone can attain. Now he introduces readers to a range of those styles - from casual to formal, vintage to urban - alongside stunning photography and charming design stories.

O’Brien carefully describes the design process of his chosen projects, including a downtown New York City loft, a traditional Connecticut estate, and a converted schoolhouse in eastern Long Island. Each home explores a view on the modern design spectrum he has created, as well as the individual choices that make the design unique and its mix essentially American. He explains not only what was at work to create a given style, but how readers can import those practices to their own homes and personal design sensibilities. Important design principles such as architectural authenticity, color relationships, correctness of scale, and informed collecting are threaded through a practical narrative that reads like a master class in interior design.

American Modern is an inspiring design volume that will redefine the way readers think about modern interiors.

William Abranowicz, Zander Abranowicz

Видавництво: Vendome Press

Who are the American Originals? They are photographer William Abranowicz’s pantheon of extraordinary subjects — artists, poets, rock stars, designers, heirs and heiresses, tastemakers, architects, designers — for whom the home represents the ultimate canvas of self-expression. In this lavish volume of more than 225 photographs, including many never-before-published images, Abranowicz invites us into the private spaces of extraordinary and fiercely authentic individuals, as seen through his inimitable eye.

Whether he’s capturing the cathedral-like quality of natural light in a New York City loft or taking readers to a rock ’n’ roll icon’s remote Gothic mansion on an otherwise deserted island, Abranowicz’s classical sensibility for light, form, and composition mingles with his innate curiosity and sense of humour, producing stunning, unconventional portraits of the living spaces and workplaces of larger-than-life Americans and European expats.

The images feature the homes of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Bette Midler and Martin von Haselberg, John Mellencamp, John Derian, Frederico de Vera, Jeffrey Bilhuber, Robert Couturier, Linda Rodin, Cliff Fong, Mayer Rus, and many more. The text recounts Abranowicz’s personal interactions with his subjects and their homes, and muses on voyeurism, decoration, and honesty in design.

Meticulously crafted and lavishly produced, American Originals is a profound meditation on the interaction between people, place, and space by one of the world’s great working photographers. It is sure to be an essential source of inspiration not only for decorating and interior design but also for ways of living authentically and creatively in the modern world.

Bunny Williams, Christine Pittel
ID: 10818
Видавництво: Abrams

For 28 years the world-renowned interior designer Bunny Williams has been involved in a passionate love affair with an 18th-century New England manor house that she found in sad repair.

From the moment she walked up the driveway and her palms began to perspire, Williams knew she wanted the affair to last forever. In her sumptuous new book, An Affair with a House, the venerable decorator describes in detail how she and her husband, antiques dealer John Rosselli, rescued, nurtured, renovated, and decorated the well-worn house, giving it new life as they restored each room, resurrected the abandoned gardens, and filled this weekend home with family and friends.

Through photographs, anecdotes, how-tos, and recipes, Williams provides a rare inside look at a top decorator's retreat and explains how she approached the joys, pleasures, challenges, obstacles, and day-to-day realities of creating a beautiful, comfortable country home. An Affair with a House provides a wealth of advice on interior decor and such topics as mixing design styles, but it also addresses such practical matters as stocking the pantry and outfitting the linen closet.

Beautiful photographs of the house, the gardens, and the property's rustic structures provide an intimate glimpse of the couple's lifestyle and illustrate a way of life we can all appreciate and learn from.

Donald Albrecht
ID: 7956
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Indisputably the grande dame of modern design, Andrée Putman burst onto the scene twenty-five years ago with the graphic, black-and-white interiors of the Morgans Hotel in New York.

Since then Putman has gone on to redefine design for a diverse group of prestigious clients, including Karl Lagerfeld, the French Ministry of Culture, and the interior of the supersonic Concorde. Projects since 1980 range from museum interiors, a jewellery line for Christofle, private residences for global trendsetters, and a film set for Peter Greenaway. Putman’s work is the epitome of chic, incorporating cashmere and leather with affordable ceramic tiles and industrial metals for interiors that speak volumes for Putman’s unmistakable style of quiet luxury.

The same attention to detail is given to a simple necklace as to furniture collections, grand offices, and entire spa hotels. Putman is also credited for the revival of once-forgotten early modernist designers, such as Eileen Gray, Robert Mallet-Stevens, and Jean-Michel Frank, whose designs she put back into production and used in her famous interiors. The first comprehensive monograph on Putman’s essential designs in 20 years, Andrée Putman Complete Works will be an indispensable road map of style and elegance to all lovers of modern design.
