About the Authors:

Carlos Mota is a creative consultant with extensive experience in styling, interior design, product design, and advertising campaigns. Formerly international style editor for Architectural Digest and editor at large for Elle Decor, he is the author of A Touch of Style. He lives in New York.

The third chapter is reference for all those who have had to work in a city as consolidated as Barcelona, consolidated in the fact that for every brand-new building raised in the city, there are 5 interior renovations or restorations, mostly caused by changes of use.

This memo-game is based on a very special concept: the colors follow the format used in Johannes Itten’s color theory: red for a square, blue for a circle, yellow for a triangle, orange for a trapezium, green for a spherical triangle, and purple for an ellipse. The colors are shown with the corresponding form, which increases their specific impression.

Furthermore, each color is present in six different nuances; this increases the perception of the color tones and supports the creative process of finding new names to specify the individual forms. As the cards are turned over new color contrasts are revealed; these can also be used to intensify knowledge of color theory. Thus, these cards must not just be used for playing the memo-game, they can also be used for inspiration and for experimenting with different color combinations, series and tones.

One of art history’s previously overlooked treasures — the vibrant ceramic tiles of Syria and especially Damascus — are the subject of this fascinating study by a leading Islamic art expert.

The architectural ceramic decoration is one of the most celebrated manifestations of the arts of Islam. Spanning a period from the 13th to the 20th century, the tiles featured in this book exhibit a rich range of influences from Persia, Turkey, China and even Europe. About the Author:

Arthur Millner is a consultant and independent scholar in the field of Indian and Islamic art. He lectures at the London School of Oriental and African Studies, the V&A Museum, the Royal Asiatic Society and the Oriental Rug and Textile Society. He is the author of Indian Tiles (Prestel, 2021).

Each project is presented with colour photographs, site plans and sections and elevations, as well as numerous construction details. The projects are presented in clear and concise layouts over four pages. All of the drawings are styled in the same consistent way and presented at standard architectural scales to allow for easy comparison. About the Author:

Virginia McLeod studied architecture in Australia before practising for a number of years in Sydney. She moved to the UK in 1998 to complete an MA in the history and theory of Architecture at the Architectural Association in London. Since then she has worked for a number of private practices in London and was also the editor of The Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture. She is the author of 'Detail in Contemporary Residential Architecture', 'Detail in Contemporary Landscape Architecture', 'Detail in Contemporary Timber Architecture' , 'Detail in Contemporary Kitchen Design' and 'Detail in Contemporary Bathroom Design', and also 'Encyclopedia of Detail in Contemporary Residential Architecture'  -   all published by Laurence King.
