In the 1980s Hans Nadelhoffer was granted exclusive access to the Cartier archives, including previously unpublished photographs and designs, to write the history of the Cartier empire.

Instead there is a singular reinterpretation of the neoclassical vocabulary: floral motifs, acanthus scrolls, and garlands or drops. Care for detail in these architectural motifs–often in three dimensions–is paramount. At the same time, Cartier introduced the use of platinum for the mounts. This metal was more solid and more luminous but also harder to work. It required a revolution in setting techniques as well as new tools and underlying techniques. She has also served as consultant, adviser, deputy director, and head of preservation in some of the most important cultural spaces in the country. Michel Aliaga is Director of Transmission of Cartier History and Heritage. Eugenio López Alonso is President of Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo. Pierre Rainero is Director of Image, Style and Heritage, Cartier. Cyrille Vigneron is President and CEO, Cartier SA.

He received lifetime achievement awards for his contribution to fashion from the British Fashion Council and Graduate Fashion Week, and received honorary doctorate awards from the University of the Arts London and Northumbria University.
