Видавництво: Laurence King Publishing

Advanced Fashion Drawing is a practical book showing not only how to draw the figure but also how to illustrate it in today’s fashion and lifestyle market.
Designed specifically for those interested in illustrating fashion and lifestyle commercially, Bil Donovan demonstrates how to create an illustration with a sense of fashion, rather than one that concentrates solely on the fashion figure.

A series of demonstrations and exercises help the advanced illustration student hone their skills and increase their level of draughtsmanship while establishing their own personal style.

About the Author:

Bil Donovan is a fashion illustrator who has worked and lived in New York, Paris and Milan. He has recently been appointed Dior Beauty’s first artist-in-residence, and his work has appeared editorially in various publications and promotional advertorial campaigns throughout the world. He currently resides in New York where he teaches at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Arthur Keller, William Steven Kloepfer, Jr.
ID: 10034
Видавництво: Dover

In 1920, a well-known illustrator compiled hundreds of his preliminary studies of costumed models. He photographed them and produced two portfolios that offer a revealing look into an expert's technique. Students in need of suggestions and assistance related to figure drawing will find here exactly the sort of help they seek — the position of the body in walking and sitting, the pose of a hand and position of an arm, facial expressions of every variety, and a host of other postures and attitudes.

This new edition marks the first time Arthur Keller's Sketchbook has been made available since its original publication. Although it features no descriptive text, the energy and expressiveness of its studies will instill in art students and professionals a higher appreciation of the rendering of the draped figure. In addition to its appeal to fine art enthusiasts and seekers of art instruction, this volume will also serve as a source of inspiration for fashion designers and costumers.

Charles Oliver

This volume, written by an experienced teacher, covers both aspects and provides a basic understanding of how to convey the structure and functions of the human figure. Oliver discusses and illustrates the principles involved in figure drawing — including its representation by such simple forms as the cube, the cylinder, and the sphere— as well as anatomical features, from the trunk and limbs to the head and facial features

Jean Paul Gaultier
ID: 10539
Видавництво: Laurence King Publishing

When Tony Viramontes' work appeared in the late 1970s, his hard and direct style of drawing was a marked contrast to the prevailing soft-pastel school of fashion illustration. He scored immediate success, rapidly acquiring the kind of prestigious editorial commissions normally given to photographers, from Lei, Per Lui in Italy, Vogue in the USA, The Face in Britain, and Le Monde and Le Figaro in France.

This beautiful hardback book brings together an extensive collection of his work, featuring striking images of smouldering and smoky-eyed men and women who vibrate with New Wave energy. Viramontes worked with some of the most celebrated names in fashion including Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Chanel, Claude Montana and Christian Dior.

His images, from the portraits of Paloma Picasso and Isabella Rossellini to the album covers he conceived for Arcadia and Janet Jackson, perfectly capture the mood of the 1980s club and fashion scene.

Collage is such a flexible artistic medium that no matter what skills you master and what materials you use, you will be able to create amazing collages. All the things we know in drawing or painting, such as perspective, color, and composition can be thrown away. The only limitation is your imagination. This book traces collage as a technique back the ancient China, as an artist pursuit to the 20th century when Cubists established its utmost position in modern art and Surrealists pushed it forward to depict the subconscious world, and as a way of teasing during the Pop Art movement. For beginners, this book also includes a whole section for collage creation and displays a large number of collage works.

 - Collage history and collage creation are elaborated with abundant historical photos and drawings.
 - Articles on handmade and digital collage written by Hugo Barros and Julien Pacaud.
 - Interviews with well-known collage artists, Bryan Olson, Sarah Eisenlohr, Steve Hockett, and DR.ME, sharing their inspiring thoughts on collage.
 - Display of collage works categorized into art, graphics, and fashion.

James Gurney
ID: 18728
Видавництво: Simon & Schuster

James Gurney, New York Times best-selling author and artist of the Dinotopia series, follows Imaginative Realism with his second art-instruction book, Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter.

A researched study on two of art's most fundamental themes, Color and Light bridges the gap between abstract theory and practical knowledge. Beginning with a survey of underappreciated masters who perfected the use of color and light, the book examines how light reveals form, the properties of color and pigments, and the wide variety of atmospheric effects. Gurney cuts though the confusing and contradictory dogma about color, testing it in the light of science and observation. A glossary, pigment index, and bibliography complete what will ultimately become an indispensible tool for any artist.

This book is the second in a series based on his blog, gurneyjourney.com. His first in the series, Imaginative Realism, was widely acclaimed in the fantastical art world, and was ranked the #1 Bestseller on the Amazon list for art instruction.

About the Author:

James Gurney is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling Dinotopia book series. He designed the World of Dinosaurs stamps for the U.S. Postal Service and has worked on over a dozen assignments for National Geographic magazine, painting reconstructions of Moche, Kushite, and Etruscan civilizations. He has won the Hugo, Chesley, Spectrum, and World Fantasy Awards. Solo exhibitions of his artwork have been presented at the Smithsonian Institution, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and currently at the Lyman Allyn Museum of Art. Naoki Watanabe
ID: 4824
Видавництво: Rockport

The primary skill needed by anyone who works in fashion is the ability to convey — to clients and the general public alike — images of the designs. The impression given to the viewer depends on whether the fashion design drawings are good. Contemporary Fashion Illustration Techniques thoroughly describes the basics of fashion illustration and covers the latest trends such as vivid images, sprightly movement, and garment material texture. After all, fashion drawing is not simply about sketching a body and face; only when you accurately reproduce the garments and their colors can the designs truly come to life.

Naoki Watanabe (Japan) is a veteran of fashion design drawing who has taught for 20 years at Kuwazawa Design School, one of Japan’s foremost fashion institutions.
