An inspiring compendium of idiosyncratic interiors assembled around eclectic collections of objects with life and history

The once rarefied world of antiques is bursting open thanks to a new generation of collectors. The New Antiquarians features twenty-two young connoisseurs whose spirited interiors exemplify unorthodox approaches to living with history. Hailing from across the United States and Britain, they brazenly blend the old with the new, embrace anachronism and pastiche, employ serious knowledge with humor and wit, and consider vintage and historical objects through the lens of contemporary values. The New Antiquarians is an exuberant entry point into the world of antiques, highlighting one-of-a-kind collections and the single-minded collectors whose stories suggest compelling new ways of living with the past.

Collectors whose homes are featured include: Jared Austin; Emily Adams Bode Aujla and Aaron Singh Aujla; Pablo Bronstein; Collier Calandruccio; Adam Charlap Hyman; Emily Eerdmans; Jared Frank; Andrew LaMar Hopkins; Kyle Marshall; Sean McNanney and Sinan Tuncay; Avril Nolan and Quy Nguyen; Camille Okhio; Jeremy K. Simien; Abel Sloane and Ruby Woodhouse; Samuel Snider; Alex Tieghi-Walker; and Giancarlo Valle and Jane Keltner de Valle.

Recent generations of farmers have reinvented the family farm and its traditions, embracing organic practices and sustainability and, along with them, a bold new use of modern architecture. The New Farm profiles sixteen contemporary farms around the globe, accompanied by plans and colorful images that highlight the connections among family, food, design, terrain, and heritage.

Visit a Tasmanian sheep shearers' quarters with a dramatic coastal view and a bamboo-wrapped farm shed in Kentucky. Learn from a fourth-generation poultry breeder and newcomers who have stepped off the corporate ladder and into the barnyard. Projects include an olive oil grove and mill in California, the storied Stone Barns Center in New York, and organic farms in Canada and across Europe. An introduction places the design of these farms in a lineage of celebrated architects including William Wurster, William Turnbull, Edward Larrabee Barnes, Marc Appleton, and Tom Kundig.

Author Jeff Andrews, Foreword by Kaley Cuoco
ID: 14081
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Interior designer Jeff Andrews reveals his decorating secrets in a refreshing, youthful, and livable take on what glamour today can be.

Kourtney Kardashian. Kris Jenner. Kaley Cuoco. These Hollywood stars and more have turned to Jeff Andrews to deliver his trademark high style to their homes. In his first book, Jeff Andrews guides us through the bold spaces he has created for his celebrity clients, while sharing his philosophy on design, exploring topics such as creating a vision and keeping unexpected choices elegant and cohesive; cultivating cinematic style with sweeping staircases and a feeling of extravagance, while never insisting on buttoned-up formality. Throughout, Andrews reminds us that interiors must be balanced -- whether it's making sure that even the most sophisticated house has a sense of welcome, or adding an element of rusticity, like grasscloth walls, to an otherwise sleek modern space. Captivating light fixtures, luxe-yet-comfortable furniture, and carefully curated collections come together for a modern take on old Hollywood glamour that will inspire and instruct. Colorful and fun, this is a sourcebook of cool California living at its best.

About the Authors:

Internationally celebrated interior designer Jeff Andrews creates sophisticated yet livable interiors for families and celebrities alike. His work has been featured in top shelter magazines around the globe, including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, Veranda, and House Beautiful. Jeff has a furniture line with A. Rudin, a wallpaper line with Astek Wallcoverings, a wood surfaces collaboration with Jamie Beckwith, and a rug collection with Mansour. He has received numerous awards from California Home + Design for his work, as well as the Hue Award from Benjamin Moore. Kaley Cuoco is an American actress who stars on The Big Bang Theory as well as the founder of Yes, Norman Productions.
