Written by Fawn Galli and Molly FitzSimons
ID: 12509
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Known for her witty and whimsical interiors with a bohemian flair, Brooklyn-based designer Fawn Galli shows us how to create magical rooms ourselves without breaking the bank.

Guided by her philosophy "A room should awaken the senses," Galli's goal is to cast a spell with her interior designs. Galli's interiors are celebrated for expressing the deepest desires of her clients through storytelling layers of textiles, colours, and furnishings. In Magical Rooms, Galli shares her collaborative approach to show us how we can transform our inspirations into good design.

Showcasing twelve very different interiors - from a Brooklyn townhouse to a Tribeca loft to a Greenwich Village apartment to an Upper West Side penthouse - Galli illustrates how she has achieved the finished look for each and breaks down her design principles into instructive teachings on scale, structure, balance, and colour that readers can apply to their own interiors.

Through the lens of her favourite rooms, Galli shares her own inspirations and tried-and-true tips, revealing how she distills her influences into five elements that she uses, in every project: Nature (bring the outside in); Clashing (a no-rules attitude); Surrealism (subverting the rules of scale and composition); Bohemian (worldly, chic, and eccentric); and Sparkle (the influence of disco sprinkled like fairy dust). Full of inspiration, ideas, and real-world design tips, Magical Rooms empowers us to dream and to create our own chic and personally meaningful interiors.

About the Authors:

Fawn Galli got her start in interior design working for Robert A.M. Stern where, among her many projects, she designed Mr. Stern's own loft and apartment. She went on to work with Peter Marino before eventually launching her own firm in 2007.

Fawn's work has been featured in Elle Décor, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Lonny Magazine, Domino, New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, among other outlets.

Molly FitzSimons began her career as a style editor for Martha Stewart Living, and has since created content for dozens of lifestyle and interiors brands. She is co-owner of the home furnishings company Noble Goods. She has contributed visual and editorial work to The Oprah Magazine, Apartment Therapy, New York Times, and This American Life, among other outlets.

Massimo Listri
ID: 8710
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Featuring bathrooms as never seen before, Magnificent Baths celebrates the most striking and eccentric bathrooms beautifully presented through the photography of Massimo Listri, whose travels have taken him to the most luxurious and idiosyncratic homes, palazzos, and hotels around the world.

Each space represents its own decorative aesthetic and style. Some follow in the tradition of Roman baths and Grecian spas, while others are minimalist and modern, art deco and decadent, Zen-inspired, eccentrically romantic, or art-centric sanctuaries. The incredible bathrooms are made more intriguing by their unexpected trimmings, such as Roman statuary, Renaissance paintings, Baroque fixtures, modern art, and incredible views.

Ever romantic and wonderfully indulgent, Magnificent Baths visits the lavish bathrooms of writers, artists, fashion designers, and other notable figures who have added their own personal touch to create sensuous, dreamlike spaces.

Author Bobby McAlpine, with Susan Sully, Photographs by Simon Upton
ID: 15775
Видавництво: Rizzoli

A celebration of the recent work of McAlpine, the award-winning architectural and interior design firm, with a collection of residences embracing modernism, classicism, and romanticism.

The work of renowned firm McALPINE has always communicated the power of romanticism, speaking directly to the heart through the beauty and poetry of the home. Tapping diverse influences, the residences draw from architectural languages ranging from Elizabethan and Dutch to colonial Caribbean and agrarian American. The book opens with Bobby McAlpine’s own newly designed house, featuring exquisite spaces that are modern in expression but classical in order and balance. Other projects include a white-on-white neoclassical pavilion-by-the-sea in the Bahamas; a masonry dwelling in the rolling hills of Virginia; a quintessential American country house in Tennessee that combines the familiarity of a farmhouse with crisp minimalism; and an exuberant house sited on the edge of a pastoral golf course in Alabama. Freely choosing from architecture’s treasury, the assembly of houses is familiar, bold, and surprising, all at the same time — reflecting the complexity of the human experience.

Emily Henson
ID: 10322
Видавництво: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

At its heart, the modern rustic look celebrates the fabric of a home, from the roof beams to the brickwork.

This style revels in earthy colours and rich textures; in natural materials such as wood and stone; and the ruggedly handsome bones of a building. In this book, stylist Emily Henson and writer Joanna Simmons first lead you through the Elements of the Modern Rustic look.

Pure Rustic elegantly blends clean lines with muted shades of grey. Bohemian Rustic mixes texture and pattern with lush colour, while Pop Rustic teams raw wood with pops of neon and tongue-in-cheek artworks. Retro Rustic, meanwhile, brings a relaxed feel, showcasing beaten-up leather armchairs and brick floors.

In Details, textiles, furniture, fabric and display are explored, while Living Spaces shows how Modern Rustic style translates beautifully to every room in the house.

About the Author:

Emily Henson has recently returned to London after many years spent living in LA. Her career has encompassed store display and merchandising for Anthropologie, set design, and interior design for private clients. Emily lives in East London and this is her first book.

Carl Dellatore

Видавництво: Rizzoli

A vibrant new collection of the best maximalist interiors from today’s top designers.

Rooms of jewellike color and glorious pattern. Enchanting lacquered ceilings and geometric floors. Brilliantly massed collections of furniture, objects, and art. Although maximalism has always had a place in interior design — practiced by noted decorators such as Dorothy Draper, Sister Parish, and Mario Buatta — today it is bigger than ever. Thanks to its contemporary practitioners, rooms rich with color, pattern, and everything else have exploded onto the design scene in recent years. More Is More Is More celebrates the best of this work with page after page of lushly photographed vivid inspiration and ideas.

Each of the five chapters in More Is More Is More begins with an essay on a theme — color, pattern, surfaces, elements, and layering — followed by dozens of showstopping rooms from acclaimed, award-winning designers, including Ken Fulk, Steven Gambrel, Kelly Behun, Mark D. Sikes, Pierce and Ward, Bunny Williams, Corey Damen Jenkins, and Redd Kaihoi. The images are enhanced by commentary from the designers describing their process for creating the room and offering insight on how to incorporate the ideas at home.

With a design as lavishly maximalist as its subject, More Is More Is More is a perfect gift for design fans.

Nancy Braithwaite, Foreword by Dara Caponigro
ID: 16355
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Interior designer Nancy Braithwaite’s long-awaited first book is a striking tutorial in the power of simplicity in design. In the world of interior design, Nancy Braithwaite is known for her single-minded devotion to the principle that has guided her work for more than forty years: simplicity. Braithwaite’s work is luxuriously minimalist, its beauty inextricably tied to its Shaker-like purity. While her work varies from art deco to country, the underlying rules remain the same: every element should strive to be simple and powerful without compromise, and every room must have a level of power that comes from commanding scale, repetition of elements, subtleties of color, or the sheer beauty of forms. In Braithwaite’s world, excess is not opulent. Simplicity is opulent. Braithwaite takes the reader deep into her singular vision. Divided into five sections, the book begins with her manifesto on simplicity and the aspects of design used to achieve it, including architecture, scale, color, texture, pattern, and composition. She then presents three categories of style — country, classic, and contemporary — and explains and illustrates each with iconic rooms from her portfolio. Finally, she presents several houses as case studies, displaying the power of these principles in action and emphasizing the importance of craftsmanship in design, from a stunning modern seaside retreat on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, to her unforgettable country house in Atlanta.

About the Authors:

Nancy Braithwaite started her acclaimed Atlanta interior design firm in 1969. Over her forty-plus-year career, her work has graced the pages of numerous shelter magazines. Dara Caponigro is the former editor-in-chief of Veranda and the founding editor of Domino.
