David Ragg
ID: 7672
Видавництво: Stichting Kunstboak

David Ragg is a third generation florist, following in the footsteps of his mother and grandmother. Surrounded by flowers from a very young age, he understands the simple beauty of one of nature's most wonderful creations, the flower. His philosophy and view on floral design are uncomplicated. Working with flowers should be fun, inventive and exciting and the finished product must stimulate and generate reaction. Contemporary floral design is not about forcing issues and concepts, but about letting the natural beauty of flowers speak for themselves and declare their own personality. In 2000 David Ragg became Interflora florist of the year, he was a competitor for the UK in the Interflora World Cup and in the UK Europa Cup. As a three-times Gold Medal Winner for Professional Floristry at the Chelsea Flower show, David's business has been raised to the higher ranks in the floral industry. He travels the globe teaching and demonstrating his skills. This new monograph showcases David's range and creative talent.

Deborah Turbeville
ID: 7960
Видавництво: Rizzoli

From internationally acclaimed photographer Deborah Turbeville comes the first book on her highly influential visionary avant-garde fashion photography. Celebrated for her poetic grace and cinematic vision, Deborah Turbeville has produced fashion tableaux that draw the viewer into her otherworldly environments. A romantic and modernist, Turbeville bridges the boundaries between commercial fashion and fine arts photography. In this remarkable presentation, Turbeville reveals her highly individualistic point of view of fashion photography and the stories behind her photographs.

This first retrospective presentation of Turbeville's fashion photography was selected by the artist herself. In addition, she has designed the evocative layouts to create yet another masterwork. The presentation includes Turbeville's most famous photographs, among them the controversial Bathhouse series of 1975 for American Vogue with disturbingly isolated figures and her Woman in the Woods series of 1977 for Italian Vogue showing psychologically charged emotions, along with her numerous photography campaigns for labels like Sonia Rykiel, Valentino, Yamamoto, Ungaro, and Commes des Garçons, as well as commissions for Chanel and work that has never been seen before. Her most current project for Casa Vogue--Italian nobility dressed in special couture outfits--evokes Turbeville's vision of everlasting beauty.

About the Author

Deborah Turbeville, a fashion editor turned photographer, was a fashion editor for Mademoiselle in 1966. A portfolio of some very stylized photographs she did for Saks Fifth Avenue was her first big breakthrough into the fashion photography world. Subsequently, her work first appeared in Vogue in the 1970s. Since then she has been a dominant figure in contemporary photography. Turbeville has authored many books, including Unseen Versailles, Wallflower, Studio St. Petersburg, Past Imperfect 1978-1997, and Casa No Name. Her work continues to be exhibited around the world and is published regularly in many international magazines.

Decay can possess the drama of a landslide or the intimacy of cracked skin. In Decay, photographers Nathan Troi Anderson and J.K. Putnam share how decay looks to them through their lenses. Shot in color and black & white, with their cameras trained on a wide array of subjects, decay begins to take shape, framed by written insights about how they perceive this natural phenomenon.

In a distinctly MBP twist, Decay also doubles as a pattern book, providing readers with 50 high-resolution, royalty-free patterns of decay that can be used for any number of graphic design applications.

TASCHEN's Decorative Art series, whose six installments span the 20th century up through the 1970s, carefully reproduces the best of Decorative Art, The Studio Yearbook. Published annually from 1906 until 1980, the yearbook was dedicated to the latest currents in architecture, interiors, furniture, lighting, glassware, textiles, metalware, and ceramics. Since the publications went out of print, the now hard-to-find yearbooks have become highly prized by collectors and dealers. Preserving the yearbooks' original page layouts, TASCHEN's Decorative Arts books bring you the authentic experience of each decade's design trends and styles.

Decorative Art 1950s explores the spirit of optimism and the fervent consumerism of the decade. Technology and construction had been enervated by research during the war and these discoveries could now be applied in peacetime. The popularization of plastics, fiberglass, and latex literally shaped the decade. Rising incomes and postwar rebuilding on bother sides of the Atlantic led to a massive housing boom in both the suburbs and inner cities, and these new homes reflected the new style.

While European design was extraordinarily inventive, American design was looking to an idealized vision of the future - between them a modern idiom was developed that can be seen vividly on these pages. This overview of the decade includes the work of such famous innovators as Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, Hans Wegner, and Gio Ponti.

TASCHEN's 25th anniversary - Special edition! Pop and space age interiors: Highlights from Decorative Art, The Studio Yearbook! TASCHEN's Decorative Arts series, whose six installments span the 20th century up through the 1970s, carefully reproduces the best of Decorative Art, The Studio Yearbook. Decorative Arts 1960s looks at the birth of pop in a decade of unprecedented social, sexual, and political change. All the restless energies bubbling throughout the world during the 1960s made their way into the design style of the decade. Liberation was in the air, men were rushing to the moon, and the sky was the limit as far as visual creativity was concerned. The concept of lifestyle really came into its own, and although the early years of the decade still saw a rivalry between the well-crafted object and industrial manufacture, by its end both ethnic and pop iconography had gained equal foothold in the aesthetic. Light was also pedominant in shaping interiors. Freedom of choice and personal expression were the buzzwords for the young consumer, and so the likes of Pasmore, Panton, Safdie, Sottsass, Paolozzi, and Lomazzi did what they could to oblige.

Since the publications went out of print, the now hard-to-find yearbooks have become highly prized by collectors and dealers. Preserving the yearbooks' original page layouts, TASCHEN's Decorative Arts books bring you the authentic experience of each decade's design trends and styles. This volume spotlights the futuristic, experimental aesthetic of the 1970s. After the revolutions of the '60s, the world of design and architecture became an increasingly exciting and fast-moving hotbed of ideas, rife with vehemently opposing schools and movements. In many ways, it was a more extreme era for design than the previous decade.

Experimentalism was everywhere, and many projects thought not practical, were forward-thinking visions of a new kind of decorative art and design. Various groups advocated returning to natural methods, rejecting style in favour of craft or pushing the logic of industrial living to its concrete, high-rise extreme. Decorative Arts 1970s includes the work of the decade's brightest stars, such as Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Luigi Coltani, Ettore Sottsass, Achille Castiglioni, Kisho Kurokawa, Norman Foster, Richard Meier, and Theo Crosby.
