Figure It Out! Drawing Essential Poses, the third book in bestselling author Christopher Hart's successful Figure It Out! series, shows artists how to overcome common challenges in drawing the human figure by transforming standard, stiff figure drawings with natural-looking poses for a more realistic effect. Starting with basic "Foundation Figures," Chris shows how to change an arm here or move a leg there to gradually achieve a more interesting, believable form. Through guided drawings highlighted with color to pinpoint key concepts, artists will learn how to easily create poses that are not only essential but also practical. Eschewing esoteric "art poses" that are often found in figure-drawing books, the focus here is on the gestures of real people from a variety of angles and positions such as standing, sitting, kneeling, reclining, arms folded, ankles crossed, hands on hips, and so much more. Deeper concepts such as perspective, illusion of depth, casting shadows, and foreshortening are also covered, along with step-by-step tutorials that will take artists through complete, naturally-posed figure drawings from start to finish. With a solid foundation in fundamentals combined with detailed instruction in more advanced techniques, artists of varied skill levels will have everything they need to master the art of drawing a realistic human form in any pose.

Aspiring artists frustrated with or intimidated by figure drawing books that focus on anatomy now have an easier way to learn.

Figure It Out! shows how to effectively draw male and female figures without learning anatomy. This fun and friendly book starts with drawing the head and facial expressions and then moves on to full-figure poses, including clothed figures and people in motion. Instead of just showing finished drawings like many other books do, Figure It Out! breaks the drawings down into easy-to-follow steps. And throughout the book, visual hints show how to draw accurate body proportions and reveal artists' secrets for bringing drawings to life.

An ingenious take on the Rorschach Inkblot Test – a book packed full of blots that readers can transform into whatever they like

What is Hirameki?
In Japanese, it means a flash of inspiration, which is just what artists Peng & Hu had when they saw a cow with a splotch that looked just like a famous filmstar – and realized that even the splodgiest blot could be easily turned into something amazing. Since then, their passion for collecting blots and dots has taken over their lives.

• Highly creative and a little bit anarchic, this is the perfect outlet for all those who are bored by drawing inside the lines
• It's for everybody: even the most inexperienced doodlers can produce hundreds of sensational scribbles.
• Readers hone their Hirameki skills in seven sections, allowing them to progress from single drawings to complete blot-to-blot scenes.
• Artists Peng & Hu guide the reader with prompts and hints.

Hirameki is set to be the creative phenomenon of 2016!
