Author Alireza Sagharchi, Foreword by HRH The Prince of Wales, Edited by Clive Aslet, Text by Leon Krier, Designed by Takaaki Matsumoto
ID: 16068
Видавництво: Rizzoli

The first book to feature the precisely detailed, sumptuous architecture of Stanhope Gate, one of the finest firms working in the classical style anywhere.

Alireza Sagharchi, principal of Stanhope Gate Architecture, is one of the world's leading classical architects, whose projects are dazzling in their scale and accomplishment -- many of which, until now, have been unpublished and little seen. From a European Palladian villa to a country house in Scotland, Sagharchi's work is a testament to the virtues of traditional planning and design as married to an informed and inspired vision that embraces the wisdom of the past, of classicism and vernacular traditions, while establishing harmony with the needs of contemporary living.

Classicism at Home, richly detailed with new photography, meticulous drawings, and beautifully written text, features Sagharchi's work around the world, from a residence in Kensington Gardens, London, a chic eco-resort on the Danube, and a rural hunting lodge to an elegantly appointed courtyard house by the sea.

The practice works within diverse styles and the tradition of the local to create stylistically unique buildings that fit their context. The book features both exteriors and interiors, as well as exquisitely manicured gardens.

About the Author:

Alireza Sagharchi is a leading practitioner of contemporary classical architecture and traditional urban design and coauthor of the books New Palladians and Traditional Architecture. HRH The Prince of Wales is the author of A Vision of Britain: A Personal View of Architecture. Clive Aslet is the former editor of Country Life magazine and author of more than twenty books. Léon Krier is an architect, theorist, urban planner, and author.

Household organization is complicated, and the basic steps to attaining rooms which are uncluttered yet have everything within arm’s reach usually lie in choosing good storage options. All resources come into play when conceiving and designing functional and versatile rooms that adapt to their inhabitants and lend a coherent decor to the whole, all to one’s personal taste.

This book explores various storage solutions for apartments of different sizes. It is structured from the lowest to the highest available surface, and they all have aspects in common: the style of each house, the space available, the entrance of light and how to take advantage of it, and finally the color.

Philip Mitchell and Judith Nasatir, Foreword by Bunny Williams
ID: 16194
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Modern maximalist designer Philip Mitchell reveals his talent for blending collections, family heirlooms, contemporary art, and accessories in visually creative environments that are brimming with personality, color, authenticity, and warmth.

The elegant, clean classicism of Philip Mitchell’s style is on full display in these homes, where he masterfully incorporates a wide-ranging mix of antiques, vintage collectibles, and contemporary pieces — everything from inherited furniture collections to modern art — in rooms that are filled with memories and warmth. As a master of what he calls modern maximalism, Mitchell embraces the challenge of taking wonderful things that a homeowner already has and making more of them. Once Mitchell has established a connecting thread among a variety of disparate pieces — whether through finish, material, scale, color, texture, or line — he starts the process of building the relationships that bring a space to life.

Brilliant photographs take readers on in-depth tours of nine homes, ranging from an elegant Upper East Side pied-à-terre to a classic cottage on the water in Nova Scotia. Mitchell’s personal narrative in elegant text enlightens, while his takeaways accompanying each home help readers understand how to blend new and old, mix colors and patterns, and fill a home with an eclectic mix that is truly their own.

ID: 14821
Видавництво: Flammarion

The call of the wild has never looked as stylish as in these homes nestled in the French countryside, crafted by families pursuing a new form of country living.

A manor next to an elegant seventeenth-century castle in a picturesque village, a restored four-hundred-year-old windmill, or a ruin in the Barbizon forest transformed into a contemporary timber house — our trio of authors saw the potential in these rural homes and took the leap into a life rhythmed by nature. But how did these urban dwellers step away from the glamour of Paris, and why haven’t they looked back?

A calmer life enriched by its surroundings, with more space at home, a burgeoning garden, and a relaxed ambience is a seductive combination. But a country house is different from a cozy apartment, just steps from modern conveniences. In their search for a deeper experience, they embarked on a long-term project that required planning and effort, but it brought unexpected joy along with the challenges.

Life in the countryside takes adjustment and there is much to be learned — from furnishing and organizing your home to getting the most from nature and your garden, and from dressing to suit your new setting to hosting relaxed soirées where you’ll linger over dinner with your guests. This is the art of countryfication. Alongside portraits of similar-minded individuals and families who have adopted country living, this book provides insight, practical advice, and recipes that celebrate life in the countryside, all while retaining a Parisian flair.

About the Authors:

Gesa Hansen is a furniture and interior designer. Estelle Marandon is a lifestyle journalist. Charlotte Huguet is a stylist. Stephanie Füssenich and Nathalie Mohadjer are lifestyle photographers.

Barbara de Vries
ID: 14417
Видавництво: Rizzoli

A celebration of the innovative, artisanal, and sustainable living exemplified by contemporary Dutch interiors.

With a carefully curated collection of interiors, including historic canal houses, restored farms, and green homes, belonging to interior designers, product designers, architects, and artists, this book showcases creative and resourceful living. These properties have been created or renovated and brought into the twenty-first century with typical Dutch style and sensibility — environmentally friendly, imaginative uses of space filled with color and charm and never to be taken too seriously.

Each home in the book reflects the personality and spirit of the people who inhabit it. From furniture designer Valentin Loellman’s handcrafted interiors in a traditional worker’s cottage on the Maas river to fiber artist Claudy Jongstra’s farmhouse in Friesland where indigo dye plants grow in the biodynamic garden, Coming Home illustrates fun ideas and easy ways to incorporate individual style into your surroundings. Whether it’s the traditional “lowlands” aesthetic of combining old and new, faded and inviting, into a casual chic or a quirky reinvention of a space that reveals a touch of eccentricity, this book illustrates why the Netherlands is truly loved by so many and can be an inspiration to us all.

About the Author:

Barbara de Vries was born in Amsterdam. She has spent most of her career as a designer in the fashion business and in 1991, she created the CK collections at Calvin Klein and subsequently had her own collections in the U.S. and Japan. In 2009, Barbara and her husband, author Alastair Gordon, founded Gordon de Vries Studio, an imprint that publishes illustrated books on design and lifestyle. She is also a passionate anti-plastic-pollution activist. When her twin daughters moved to the Netherlands to study design, Barbara saw her home country through their eyes and realized that the Dutch way of life had never really left her.

A must-have design source, with cutting-edge ideas from the world’s best designers and architects. Contemporary Interiors showcases a wide range of twenty-first-century residences by world-renowned architects and designers. Filled with more than 300 color illustrations, specialist Philip Jodidio compiles from around the globe fifty of the most innovative homes designed and built within the last five years. Sou Fujimoto experiments with a house that is entirely open, without clearly defined floors; Werner Sobek’s B10 House is designed to be dismantled in one day and rebuilt in the same time frame; Eduardo Arroyo’s house in Spain has iridescent polycarbonate walls that change colors with the light; the Leaf House by Mareines + Patalano architects has a curving swimming pool that enters the house and passes below the dining room where it becomes a pond with aquatic plants and fish; Steven Holl’s gallery and house in Seoul has his signature door that wraps into a corner, notched walls, and neo-constructivist lighting fixtures.

Philip Jodidio studied art history and economics at Harvard University, and was editor in chief of the leading French art journal Connaissance des Arts for more than two decades. He has published numerous articles and more than one hundred books.

Lucy Haywood
ID: 14266
Видавництво: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

Find inspiration in decorative country living with Country Brocante Style.

Lucy Haywood is the creator of The Country Brocantes – home and lifestyle fairs held in idyllic rural surroundings. In Country Brocante Style, she introduces her pretty and accessible signature look into the home, fusing two classic and enduring decorating traditions – English country style and French-inspired vintage styling. There’s plenty of classic French ‘brocanterie’ – old textiles, vintage furniture and decorative pieces – alongside lifestyle brands, gardenalia, handmade textiles, cottage-garden flowers and other homewares. In the first section, Country Brocante Style, Lucy leads you through the colour palette of the Brocantes and discusses key pieces of furniture and decorative pieces before presenting creative ideas for putting the look together. In the second section, Country Brocante Interiors, she pays a visit to the homes of the dealers and the buyers who flock to the fairs.

Decorative country style is more popular than ever and The Country Brocante will inspire you to create this romantic, timeless style in your own home.

About the Author:

Lucy Haywood started her career as a designer for British Airways before going on to work for Lady Annabel Astor at OKA. However, her passion for interiors, antiques and vintage was sparked many years earlier when, as a tiny child, she was taken by her father to numerous antiques fairs and house clearances to hunt for hidden treasure. The Country Brocante fairs came into being when Lucy decided to create an event where visitors could shop and enjoy a day out and both hobby dealers and professionals could sell their wares. The Country Brocante now takes place four times a year against a backdrop of some of England's most beautiful scenery and stately homes.

Nora Murphy
ID: 17262
Видавництво: Rizzoli

Following her success with Nora Murphy’s Country House Style, Murphy celebrates a selection of homes and their homeowners, each exemplifying a different style.

For Nora Murphy, a country house isn’t so much a place as it is a state of mind. A country house is warm, welcoming — at once down to earth, yet elegant. A country house has genuine character, tells a story, and is truly, wonderfully lived in. Here Murphy explores the tenets of country house style, as illustrated by her own “new” country house, and the many other striking homes she has curated for the book. Each one of these homeowners has embraced country house style — but each implements it in their own unique way. There is a pastoral 1732 center-chimney colonial in Connecticut nestled in spectacular gardens, a cozy cottage on the coast of Maine rich with local details, and an 1840s Greek Revival in the Hudson Valley filled with romantic Victorian ephemera. Common threads weave through the stories: the thrill of the antiques hunt, the role of history, and the priority of comfort.

Filled with practical ways to celebrate American country style, beautifully designed with a ribbon bookmark, and written in the author’s warm and effusive voice, this book will inspire readers to create a country house lifestyle wherever they live.

About the Author:

Nora Murphy’s lifestyle brand Nora Murphy Country House celebrates decorating, gardening, and entertaining, and is home to an award-winning blog; online magazine; the e-commerce site, Hunt Club; and the brick-and-mortar store, The Little Shop. Previously, Murphy was Executive Vice President of Style and Advertising at Ethan Allen. She is the author of Nora Murphy’s Country House Style.

A celebrated photographer focuses his lens on distinctive period and contemporary residences amid the natural beauty of New York’s Catskill Mountains and Hudson River Valley

The majestic panoramas, lush vegetation, and bucolic vibe of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River Valley in upstate New York have long proved irresistible for city dwellers seeking respite from urban life and inveterate country lovers alike.
