Ben Pentreath
ID: 11801
Видавництво: Ryland Peters & Small / CICO books

In this timeless and beautiful book, renowned architectural and interior designer, writer, shop-keeper and blogger Ben Pentreath presents a fresh and insightful overview of the classic English style.

Visiting 12 very different homes, Ben explores and appraises the unique spirit of the English House – at once restrained and simple yet overflowing with a generosity of touch and a richness of color and texture.

The book is divided into three sections: London, Country, and Country House, and the interiors featured range from a 1930s pied-a-terre in London's historic St James to designer Veere Grenney's pocket-sized Palladian Temple folly in Suffolk and Wardington, a 16th-century stone manor house in North Oxfordshire. Ben’s own homes, in central London and West Dorset, are also included.

These homes vary greatly in architecture, size, shape and age, but they all have in common a peculiarly English style – richly-layered rooms that deftly intertwine colour and pattern and a mix of old and new furniture to create timeless and comfortable places to live.

Exceptional residential mountain chalets in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Sankt Moritz, Madonna di Campiglio, Corvara in Badia, St. Nikolai im Sölktal, Auronzo di Cadore, …

ZwD Living has started in 1968. Its challenge is to associate design with wood scent, touch, sounds and temperature. It looks good and, being natural, it is a pleasure to touch. ZwD projects go beyond design, meant for visual and two-dimensional purposes, which is made to communicate image and not substance. They transmit that sense of protection found in the warmth of wood. Their shapes are not abstract because they need a connection with reality, with man and his culture: in this way, not only the designer but also people can actually experience the design.

Author Sandra Lucas and Sarah Eilers and Lucas/Eilers Design Associates, Contributions by Judith Nasatir, Photographs by Stephen Karlisch
ID: 15681
Видавництво: Rizzoli

From the Third Coast comes this inspirational interiors book by award-winning interior designers Sandra Lucas and Sarah Eilers, who show us how to design inviting homes with a classical backbone that are stylish and versatile for today's living.

Native Houstonians Lucas and Eilers's aesthetic marries the entrepreneurial, can-do spirit of the West with Southern grace. The distinctive influences of their hometown--from the architecture of John Staub to the textures and color palettes of the surrounding Texas ranches and expansive landscapes to the impact of futuristic NASA -- infuse their design choices. Whether traditional, contemporary, or transitional in style, the rooms they create are timeless.

The duo's seasoned insight into the principles and elements of interior design forms the book's heart. Touching on such topics as scale and proportion, color and light, and pattern and texture, they explore their pragmatic, imaginative approach to creating expressive living spaces in a diverse range of projects from coast to coast. They then tour us through several homes, including a comfortable family ski compound in Utah with repurposed rough-hewn wooden beams and custom forged-steel fireplace surrounds; a Houston shotgun home rich with patina; and a charming Gulf Coast beach house. For those passionate about interiors, this wealth of design fundamentals is inspirational.

About the Authors:

Sandra Lucas and Sarah Eilers are the founding partners of Houston's Lucas/Eilers Design Associates, which opened in 1995. Their interiors have been featured in numerous shelter magazines. Judith Nasatir is a lifestyle writer who has cowritten several interiors books. Stephen Karlisch is a leading lifestyle photographer whose work has been published in many publications and books.

Marin Montagut, Pierre Musellec, Laura Fronty
ID: 17177
Видавництво: Flammarion

The art of collecting — from artist’s palettes still freckled with oil paint, to sculpted picture frames, to a menagerie of wooden toy animals — associating an accumulation of kindred objects is at the core of timeless French style.

French artist, designer, and talented antique hunter Marin Montagut celebrates the joy of collecting everything from textiles to barware to architectural details, taking readers inside a dozen private homes, flea markets, and unusual ateliers to discover the most whimsical treasure troves in France. From a film prop house’s array of leather sporting goods and playing cards to a travel buff’s vintage maps and globes, and from a sculpture studio’s Grecian plaster casts to an amateur designer’s spiral staircase models, and from Montagut’s own wonder wall assemblages to a cook’s haven filled with porcelain dessert molds and copper pots — objects, when presented together as a series, create unforgettable interiors that radiate charm. Inspiration comes in repetition: wooden zigzag rulers with engraved numbers aligned on a wall in a herringbone pattern create an artful space. The spare wooden forms of capipotes — devotional statues used in religious processions, their eyes turned heavenward in ecstasy — and silver ex-votos can be the point of departure for the theme of an entire room. Montagut’s mood boards for each chapter provide endless ideas for the home.

About the Author:

Marin Montagut is French illustrator and designer; his eponymous boutique is dedicated to whimsical decorative objects. He published Timeless Paris (Flammarion, 2021), is coauthor with Ines de la Fressange of Maison: Parisian Chic at Home (Flammarion, 2018), and he created and illustrated the Bonjour City Map-Guides. He has collaborated with the Château de Versailles and with many brands, including Farrow & Ball, the Ritz Paris, Diptyque, and Pierre Frey. Pierre Musellec is a lifestyle photographer; his work appeared in Timeless Paris and Faire magazine. Laura Fronty contributed text to Timeless Paris: Ateliers, Emporiums, Savoir Faire (Flammarion, 2021).

The construction of a modern house becomes a tremendously appealing prospect for both the architect as well as the client, not only because in principle these projects respond to the basic needs of humans to take shelter from the elements, but also due to the fact they are a consequence of their surroundings and the environmental prerequisites required for any type of building these days.

This is why the frame in which these projects are presented here in this book allows for different ariations and "sensations": small and large-scale houses, low-cost projects, grandiose ideas, typologies set according to family elements, risky settings, far-flung locations, technological resources and above all, a markedly contemporary nature to each and every one of the projects.

Available again as of October 2019| Atmospherically illustrated tribute to the brilliant Danish designer and his own home, an icon of good taste

Birgit Lyngbye Pedersen was looking for the right sofa for a house from the fifties and discovered Finn Juhl (1912–1989), whose furniture is experiencing a renaissance in the wake of the retro wave. When Juhl’s house in Charlottenlund, which he designed and decorated in 1941–42, came up for sale, Pedersen purchased the building and all of its furnishings, presenting it immediately afterward to the adjacent Ordrupgaard Museum.

This monograph takes a look at Finn Juhl—alongside Hans J. Wegner and Arne Jacobsen one of the most important Danish Modernists—in an agreeably unpretentious way. Per H. Hansen, a renowned expert in Scandinavian furniture design, provides a humorous, extremely informative description of Juhl’s unconventional character and classic furniture—the Chieftain Chair, the Pelican Chair, or the Poet Sofa. Drawings, original photographs, images of the newly curated house (2008), and an amusing final chapter about his patrons round off this unusual volume.

Fiona Barratt-Campbell, Foreword by Tony Chambers
ID: 16063
Видавництво: Rizzoli

The first book to showcase the award-winning work of interior designer and entrepreneur Fiona Barratt-Campbell, whose interiors marry a sense of opulence with bold, material simplicity.

Fiona Barratt-Campbell established Fiona Barratt Interiors in 2006 and is increasingly recognized as one of Britain's leading figures in interior design. Barratt-Campbell draws on the history of the rugged landscape of Northumberland, where she grew up. Her designs are bold and geometric, and her finishes are intricate, with materials ranging from solid cast bronze and sandblasted wood to Brazilian fish skin. Her signature style combines sophisticated neutrals interlaced with bursts of accent color, and although more modern themes remain core to her interiors, she also integrates antiques, particularly twentieth-century pieces, into her designs.

In her first book, Barratt-Campbell offers a wealth of experience and advice to readers to achieve signature style via in-depth looks at the homes profiled here, making this a definitive master class in interior design. Curated in close collaboration with Barratt-Campbell, this beautiful volume is a must-have for any decorator wanting to give his or her home a touch of Barratt-Campbell's distinctive style: the perfect blend of luxury and functionality.

Barratt-Campbell studied fine art at Chelsea College of Art, London, and Parsons School of Design, New York.
