Author Amy Fine Collins, Introduction by Graydon Carter, Foreword by Carolina Herrera
ID: 17205
Видавництво: Rizzoli

A lavishly illustrated banquet of style, elegance, and taste, this is a who's who of the most glamorous men and women around the world, the ultimate treasury of fashion inspiration.

This sumptuous volume -- the ultimate sourcebook for fashion mavens, Instagram followers, and celebrity worshippers--presents the complete history of the much-lauded and highly visible International Best-Dressed List (IBDL) launched by Eleanor Lambert, "Godmother of Fashion," in 1940. The List has become a barometer of style and the highest honor a sartorial savant can receive, and today it's an ongoing record of the world's most glamorous women and men from society, royalty, Hollywood, celebrity, fashion, art, culture, sports, and media. These gorgeous "swans" of elegance, influence, and grace are gathered here in the most comprehensive survey ever published.

This rich story is told by insider and IBDL Hall-of-Famer Amy Fine Collins through her encyclopedic knowledge, exclusive insights, and countless entertaining anecdotes about the behind-the-scenes goings-on -- Lambert was offered kickbacks and bribes of up to $50,000 by list aspirants -- that shed light on the selection process, the vibrant personalities (not to mention egos) of the chosen, and the zeitgeist of the times.

For sixty years, Lambert was queen of the International Best-Dressed List. In 2002, she formally ceded the reins to Graydon Carter, Amy Fine Collins, Reinaldo Herrera, and Aimée Bell.

About the Authors:

Amy Fine Collins is a writer and editor at large at Air Mail. She has been a special correspondent at Vanity Fair for more than 20 years. Graydon Carter was Vanity Fair's editor-in-chief from 1992 to 2017 and is now editor of Air Mail, the digital news platform. Fashion designer Carolina Herrera was inducted into the IBDL's Hall of Fame in 1980.

The International Interior Design Exhibition (iide) came to Brussels with heritage.  First launched in London by Fleur Rossdale as The British Interior Design Exhibition (BIDE) during the 1980's and 1990's, the event was highly acclaimed as a ground breaking showcase for the design industry.  With 30,000 international visitors to each, the exhibition helped propel interior design into the limelight, receiving worldwide press coverage and an insatiable demographic of private clients, hoteliers, designers and developers.  Fleur says ‘Good design has a vital role to play in our everyday lives.  It can improve how we live and function, be it at home, in the workplace, in education or on holiday.  Interiors set a mood, portraying an identity that should feel enhancing and harmonious.’  Fleur, an active interior designer herself, chose Brussels for the re-launch due to the cultural heritage, not least as founders of the Art Nouveau movement. 'Decoration is all about bringing together skilled workmanship, colour, texture and fine art to create a melodious interior to enhance our everyday lives', she says.

Fleur received much fan mail from visitors in the early days, in particular praising how they found a particular design style they related to, previously unknown to them.

IIDE follows the ethos of past experience.  Showcasing Belgian and international designers, presenting their interior design vision which inspired private and trade visitors in November 2018 and in September 2019 at Tour & Taxis Brussels:

Michel Penneman, Christophe Remy, J. Phine with Kaye McGarva, Erik Dhont, Christophe Gollut, Gert Voorjans, Carter Tyberghein, Jessie Lecomte, Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, Olivier Lapidus, Luxus, Vanessa Bruffaerts with Pol Quadens, Diego Fortunato with Dedar, Fleur Rossdale, A.Dem Interiors, Dominique Rigo, Designers Guild, Gerald Watelet, Guimar Urbina Interiors with Kinetura and Technogym, Johan Van Mullem, Benedetti Interieur with Evolution21, LDécoration Internationale with Catherine Nyssen, Houlès, Jean Duruisseau and Coup-de-Foudre, Maria Westerberg with Johan Patricny, Isabelle Thiltgès, Casamance, Masureel and Aristide.

Text by Mario Piazza and Maria Giulia Zunino, Illustrated by Pierluigi Longo
ID: 16321
Видавництво: Rizzoli

This is the first book of its kind devoted to the history of Estel, celebrating eighty years of the furniture manufacturer's activity.

This book takes the reader through Estel's history from the future to the past, working backward in five major phases of the company's progress. These phases are related through various illustrations, best called "dioramas," covering double spreads that fold out, making four full-size pages.

Especially created for the book by Pierluigi Longo, these "dioramas" emerge like modern-day frescoes in which the leading figures of the business world can be observed, along with the production panorama and market environment around them. They represent a sort of visualized concept that not only illustrates and tracks a path through the book, but also lends it concept and structure.

The texts that follow each theme-diorama pivot successively on the company philosophy, the protagonists, the products, and a brief text classifying the furniture-manufacturing sector itself. Hence, the tale unfolds on two fronts simultaneously, interweaving the company's history with the ongoing developments in the sector and in methods of production.

About the Authors:

Mario Piazza is one of Italy's leading graphic designers. Maria Giulia Zunino is a journalist who writes on questions of production and design. Pierluigi Longo is an illustrator whose work is featured in leading Italian publications.

Arrows, swashes, swooshes, globes, sunbursts and parallel, vertical and horizontal lines, words, letters, shapes and pictures. Logos are the most ubiquitous and essential of all graphic design devices, representing ideas, beliefs and, of course, things. They primarily identify products, businesses and institutions, but they are also associated, hopefully in a positive way, with the ethos or philosophy of those entities. The 50 logos in this book are examples of good ideas in the service of representation, reputation and identification.

The catalogues of the Paris Salons at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century provide a unique archive of illustrations of the decorative arts at a pivotal time in their development, the five previous volumes covering Jewellery, Furniture, Ceramics and Glass, and Objets d'Art.

The fabric designers of the Art Nouveau style who exhibited at the Paris Salons produced a remarkable oeuvre in printed and woven fabric, silk, lace, embroidery and tapestry.

Bookbinding was, and still is, a well-established French tradition, and bibliophiles commissioned unique bindings from artist-designers who, at the same time, were also creating and exhibiting non-bound leather goods - handbags, blotters, upholstery.

This volume is probably the most important in the series. Because of wear and tear, practically none of the approximate 1,200 textile and leatherware pieces illustrated have survived outside museum collections or appeared at auction, unlike the items covered by the earlier volumes.

Featuring the star pieces from fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent's art collection – including works by Cézanne, Picasso, Mondrian and Matisse

Yves Saint Laurent was more than a designer of clothing – he was, for many, one of the great style arbiters of the twentieth century. His talent made him the youngest and brightest star in the firmament of fashion, first with Christian Dior, who chose him as his successor, and later in his own right as the shy but daring creator of the modern woman’s wardrobe.

His private life was the subject of constant public fascination, and the homes that he shared with his lifelong friend and business partner Pierre Bergé were extraordinary private cocoons of taste and style. Ivan Terestchenko’s photographs – taken after Yves Saint Laurent’s death in 2008 – capture these exquisite surroundings and cultured luxury for the last time.

Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé amassed an exceptional collection of furniture and paintings over some forty years. It included important works by Picasso, Matisse and Mondrian, Old Master paintings by Goya, Ingres and Géricault, and masterpieces of furniture, sculpture and silver from the Renaissance to Art Deco.

Not a single piece from the collection was sold until the year following Saint Laurent’s death. A historic sale by auction at the Grand Palais in Paris became the stuff of legend months before it even took place.

This book, revealing a rare union of passion, taste and supreme connoisseurship, stands as a monument to two of the greatest taste-makers of our time.

About the Authors:

Robert Murphy is Paris correspondent for American fashion and lifestyle magazines W and Women’s Wear Daily
Born in England and educated in France, Ivan Terestchenko read History of Art at the Ecole du Louvre and was a painter until the age of 30 when he switched to photography and landed his first assignment with French Vogue. He contributes to many international publications.

This macabre tale — part dark fantasy, part Gray’s Anatomy — tells the chilling story of a man driven mad by his search for the truth, with hypnotic and horrifying images.

Philadelphia, the late 1870s. A city of gas lamps, cobblestone streets, and horse-drawn carriages — and home to the controversial surgeon Dr. Spencer Black. The son of a grave robber, young Dr. Black studies at Philadelphia’s esteemed Academy of Medicine, where he develops an unconventional hypothesis: that the mythological beasts of legend and lore — including mermaids, minotaurs, and satyrs — were in fact humanity’s evolutionary ancestors. And beyond that, he wonders: what if there was a way for humanity to reach the fuller potential these ancestors implied?

The Resurrectionist offers two extraordinary books in one. The first part is a fictional biography of Dr. Spencer Black, from his childhood spent exhuming corpses through his medical training, his travels with carnivals, his cruel and crazed experiments, and, finally, his mysterious disappearance. The second part is Black’s magnum opus: The Codex Extinct Animalia, a Gray’s Anatomy for mythological beasts, all rendered in meticulously detailed anatomical illustrations.

About the Author:

Eric was raised in Colorado but lived in several states throughout the U.S. while growing up. He worked as a snow and ice sculptor for nearly ten years, always writing and painting. His love for the arts led him all over the country and eventually to Pietrasanta, Italy where he worked as a marble sculptor. While in Italy, working on anatomy designs of impossible beings, he created the beginnings of what has become The Resurrectionist. Now living in New Jersey with his wife and two children, Eric continues to work as a professional artist.
