Richard Hambleton (1954–2017) was a Canadian artist known for his pioneering street art. He was a surviving member of a group that emerged from the New York City art scene during the booming art market of the 1980s, which also included his close friends Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

As a conceptual artist, Hambleton’s early work installations titled “Image Mass Murder” from 1976–1979 were secretly placed onto streets in over 15 cities, depicting chalk-body outlines and blood-splattered crime scenes of what appeared to be “victims.” This theme of a prevailing violence, fear, and morbid curiosity elicited surprise and anxiety from its unsuspecting viewers. In the early 1980s, Hambleton created his most iconic “Shadow Man” works — artfully splattered ominous shadowy figures on unexpected street corners, walls, and alleys that startled viewers into a visceral awareness that the city was still a dangerous place.

This book features over 200 images including his early “Shadow Man” canvas paintings, as well as photographs of his in situ street work, a selection of his “Marlboro” rodeo horse silhouettes, and his “Beautiful Paintings” series of landscapes and seascapes, alongside other works on paper; behind-the-scenes studio shots; personal, unseen photographs of the artist; and inspirational imagery. Hambleton was renowned for influencing artists such as Banksy, Blek le Rat, and Shepard Fairey. Known for his multi-storey murals gracing buildings all over the world, Melbourne-based artist Rone uses his work to explore the friction and connection between beauty and decay, youth and ruin. Rone was a seminal figure in the explosive Melbourne street art scene of the early 2000s. With his beginnings in street art, stencil and screen printing, Rone is now best known for haunting images of women's faces, rendered in arresting detail on silos and store fronts, museums and apartment blocks. Tyrone Wright (Rone) lives and creates in Collingwood, Victoria, Australia. This is the first monograph on the great American artist's work as a sculptor.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition held at the Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova for the 2013 Venice Biennale, the monograph exhaustively illustrates the sculptures Lichtenstein created between 1968 and 1997, the year of his death. From his first ceramic works down to large-scale public ones, the volume seeks to trace the artistic process leading from draughts and drawings to collages, maquettes, metal sculptures and large-scale urban installations. It also seeks to explore Lichtenstein's work on industrial manufacturing methods and techniques, by providing important information about the workshops the artist collaborated with during his career.

The book is intended to offer a comprehensive overview of the artist's experimental use of methods of industrial production, along with a selection of interviews and texts on his two-dimensional sculptures.

The art historian, critic and theoretician Germano Celant has curated exhibitions throughout the world and authored over a hundred books and catalogues. The Director of the Fondazone Prada in Milan since 1995, Celant is also the curator of the Fondazione Aldo Rossi in Milan, and the curator of the Fondazione Vedova in Venice.  He writes for L'Espresso and Interni.
