David Bennett is the Worldwide Chairman of Sotheby’s International Jewellery Division and the Chairman of Sotheby’s Switzerland. He has sold four out of the five most expensive jewels in auction history. Having worked as an auctioneer at the firm since 1978, Bennett is renowned internationally as an authority on jewellery. He played a key role in numerous illustrious sales, such as the ‘Jewels of the Duchess of Windsor’ (1987), a tiara from the Collection of Princess Katharina Henckel von Donnersmarck (2011) and Henry IV of France’s Beau Sancy (2012).

Daniela Mascetti is Sotheby’s Chairman of Jewellery in Europe. She joined Sotheby’s in 1980, opening the firm’s Milan-based department. She is one of Sotheby’s most experienced scholars in the history of jewellery, and has collaborated extensively in the sales of historic collections. About the Authors:

Stephen Westland is Professor of Color Science and Technology in the School of Design at the University of Leeds (UK). He was previously Head of the School of Design at Leeds (2006-2013). His research interests are color design, color vision and color measurement and he has published over 250 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and books about these topics. He is a Fellow of the Society of Dyers and Colourists and was President of the Society in 2019. In 2008 he was awarded the Davies Medal from the Royal Photographic Society (London) for his color research. He has won numerous research grants from both government and industry and has recently worked with AkzoNobel, Colgate and Unilever on color-related projects. He holds several visiting professorships including at the University of Texas (USA) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan (China). 

Maggie Maggio is a designer, artist and art educator who has studied, taught, and worked with color for over forty years. Her personal explorations into the science of light and pigments led to the creation of workshops for artists and designers who want to incorporate the latest research in color science into their creative practice. As a member of the Board of Directors of the US Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) and co-chair of the International Color Association Study Group on Color Education, Maggie focuses on bridging between the art, science and industry of color and advancing color literacy for the 21st century. She is the current chair of the Joint International Color Association/ISCC Color Literacy Project advocating for the integration of art and science in color education programs worldwide.

The ukiyo-e masters are brought together in a volume that illustrates Japan’s “floating world” between the 17th and 19th centuries.

The so-called Edo period (1603–1868) was extremely productive for Japan from a historical and artistic standpoint; later its influence would extend beyond the archipelago, as far as the West, where it gave rise to a real passion for Japanese aesthetics and culture. Borchert teaches art history at the universities of Aachen, Memphis (TN), and Middlebury (VT) and has curated exhibitions in Brussels, Rome, Madrid, and New York. Van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise: His Final Months offers a unique and impressive overview of the paintings and drawings that Vincent van Gogh created during the last seventy days of his life. The life and work of the most famous artist in the world through a selection of masterpieces.

Forty masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh (1853-90) from the prestigious Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo - which houses one of the greatest Van Gogh collections - document the Dutch painter's entire career, on the eve of the 170th anniversary of his birth.

An extraordinary opportunity to enter into contact with the vision of an artist who managed, through the power of his brushstrokes, to represent his idea of reality and to convey an inner world rich in emotions, as well as a picture of the life of his time, which his work presents together with its profound significance, at times simple, at times troubled and dramatic.

Van Gogh lived a tormented life, marked by failure in all the spheres of existence generally considered to be important: incapable of establishing a family, of supporting himself and of maintaining human relations. Maria Teresa Benedetti, Italian critic and art historian, author, curator and lecturer. From 2001 to 2004 she served as President of the Italian Section of the A.I.C.A. International Association of Art Critics.
Francesca Villanti is an art historian and exhibition planner.

The book presents the extraordinary three-dimensional “live sculptures” by the Russian architect, designer, writer and artist.

Having some engineering experience, Klyukin was able to experiment and derive a concept of connecting steel sheets on a non-existent, speculative axis without any actual fasteners. The principle of mobility of each individual piece was the basis for this technological innovation. Each sculpture created without physical fasteners is easily assembled and disassembled. This new experience brought new satisfaction. One of the statuettes done using the “live sculpture” technique, the Golden Madonnina, was used as the official award during Milan Design Week in 2017, a kind of Oscar for designers.

Vasily Klyukin was born in Moscow in 1979. From 1995 to 2010, he was active in business; when he left business he moved to Monaco, where he took up writing, architecture, and design. In 2013, he published Designing Legends, an album of architectural concepts that contained fifty of his visions for future buildings such as towers, office buildings, museums, and opera houses. Klyukin is recognized by many for his pronounced individuality and the unique shapes of his buildings. He strives to make each building internationally recognizable and mark it as the symbol of the city, or even the country that hosts it. In 2016, he published a sci-fi novel, Collective Mind. This is a dystopia about the creation of artificial intelligence, a computer that uses human brain as fuel. The book has been translated into English and French and published around the world. The sequel to the novel is expected in 2019. Hollywood producer Peter D. Graves has optioned Collective Mind.

His main achievement is the live sculptures technique that he created in 2017 and that he uses to craft influential and memorable installations. His first solo exhibition of live sculptures is based on Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy and is called

In Dante Veritas. Currently displayed at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the collection of twenty-seven sculptures will soon be traveling to Moscow, then the Vatican, Venice, Miami, and New York.
