Житло є найбільш поширеною міською типологією. Житло також є основною архітектурою людського існування. Можливо, більше, ніж будь-який інший вид архітектури, житло визначає те, як міські жителі будують своє життя та будують своє спільне майбутнє.

Тотальна війна в Україні, розпочата Російською Федерацією у 2022 році, непропорційно вплинула на житло та житлову інфраструктуру. Руйнування настільки цілеспрямоване, а збитки настільки значні, що спотворили цілі квартали та стерли цілі міста. З огляду на масштаби збитків і втрат, а також майбутню масштабну реконструкцію, яка неминуче відбудеться після війни, це дослідження розглядає історію та типологію масового житла в Україні. Це робиться для того, щоб оцінити те, що втрачено, пояснити різноманіття способів міського життя, які існують в українських містах, і, нарешті, переглянути наратив про те, як виникло українське житло.

Цим ми прагнемо написати історію питомо української будівельної традиції та сприяти вписанню її в контекст загальноєвропейської історії архітектури.

Carlos Muñoz-Yagüe is a photographer and documentary filmmaker. Philippe Garner is an internationally acknowledged authority on photography and 20th-century decorative arts and design. A former deputy chairman of Christie’s auction house, he has written extensively on these subjects and most notably on the great photographers of fashion. Garner received the Royal Photographic Society’s award for Outstanding Service to Photography in 2011.

Renzo Mongiardino, born in Genoa in 1916, was one of the world’s most renowned designers of the 60s, 70s and 80s, and remains highly influential. A lively introduction to and history of international contemporary art from 1960 to the present

What does it mean?
Is it really art?
Why does it cost so much?
While these questions are perpetually asked about contemporary art, they are not the questions that E. H. Gombrich set out to answer in his seminal book The Story of Art. Contemporary art is very different from what came before. From the 1960s, where Gombrich’s account concludes, artists began to abandon traditional forms of art and started to make work that questioned art’s very definition. This is where Godfrey picks up the story.

Developments in contemporary art have followed no straightforward line of progress or sequence of movements. Recognizing this, Tony Godfrey creates a narrative from a series of often dramatic creative conflicts and arguments around what art is or should be.
