It's the studio that put noir in film with The Maltese Falcon and other classics of the genre, where the iconic Looney Tunes were unleashed on animation, and the studio that took an unpopular stance at the start of World War II by producing anti-Nazi films. Counter-culture hits like A Clockwork Orange and The Exorcist carried the studio through the 1970s and '80s. About the Author:

Mark A. Vieira is a filmmaker, photographer, and writer. He creates educational films for the Cecil B. DeMille Foundation. He makes portraits in the classic Hollywood mode and restores studio imagery to fine art standards. He has written seventeen previous books, including Cecil B. DeMille and Forbidden Hollywood. He has lectured at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, UCLA, and USC, and he has appeared in documentaries such as TCM's Complicated Women. Vieira resides in Los Angeles.

William Klein (1926-2022) was an American photographer, painter, designer and filmmaker. New York-born, Klein settled in Paris in 1948, where he studied at the Sorbonne and pursued his artistic career working briefly under Fernand Léger. Best known as a photographer, achieving fame with a series of acclaimed photobooks, including Life is Good and Good for You In New York (1956) and through his fashion photography in Vogue magazine. Klein was also a filmmaker, directing both feature films and documentaries, a graphic designer and art director.
